It's not what was mentioned, it's not pictured here, nor do I have any info on whether they use them- but it would make sense for them to possibly use the Bullpup M95 Variant at times.. Not saying that's what he meant, but if you're very generous, and you think about CQB and Hostage Situations, a Bolt action might not be the worst thing, and I can't think of a scenario that would require one lone sniper to let off consecutive shots from a Light Fifty to save a hostage.

I would have loved to hear updated stats on how often people attempted kidnapping for ransom before the HRT and after the HRT. Many years ago, I heard they had dropped kidnapping for ransom to nearly zero. No idea if that is still true.
The FBI has always been anti-kidnapping in general, but during the early days, it was hampered by politics... which ended when Edgar J. Hoover became director and transformed the FBI into what it is today.

The Hostage Rescue Team is the elite tactical unit of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The HRT was formed to provide a full-time federal law enforcement tactical capability to respond to major terrorist incidents throughout the United States. Today, the HRT performs a number of tactical law enforcement and national security functions in high-risk environments and conditions and has deployed overseas, including with military Joint Special Operations Command units. The HRT, along with the Crisis Negotiation Unit, the SWAT Operations Unit that manages the field office SWAT program, and the Tactical Helicopter Unit, comprise the Tactical Section of the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group. The Hostage Rescue Team was founded in 1983 by Danny Coulson, former Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI, and completed its final certification exercise in October 1983. It was originally composed of 50 operators, later increased to over 140.

The purpose of breeching rounds is not to bust hinges or to bust locks... it is to do that WHILE avoiding casualties behind the door. Any shotgun can bust hinges and locks, but special rounds are used to make this 'safer' for people inside and out

@@nursestoyland yeah, normal rounds can ricochet off the metal of a lock or hinge, shotgun rounds are especially designed, oftentimes made of ceramic, to ensure they don't ricochet back and hit the breacher in the face.

Waco saw the HRT put on the side lines and told simply to advise everyone else on what to do because they were a very new unit and no one had confidence in them to actually do it. Could they have saved the children? We’ll never now the FBI choose different means then a counter terrorism unit to resolve the situation. And as dark as it is they did exactly what they were ordered to do at Ruby Ridge making it an operational success. Now what they were ordered to do just wasn’t a good thing.

Some people said the Branch Davidians were pouring oil inside the complex during the siege but at the same time tear gas was being deployed but those things are flammable when activated which would likely be the cause of the fire. Both sides are at fault though, the ATF had eyes on the cult leader before the siege but they just let him go back to the complex where this whole shitstorm happened
Forgot a few weapons: the E-11 (originally a Sterling SMG) & the A280 (an M4/AR-15 variant); primarily designed to double as flashbang, where each round is technically a tracer round, it helps further disorient anybody who was able to cushion the shock of the flashbang grenade & are often used either during the night or when the room(s) in question are already dark.

I think team this was the basis for Tom Clancy's Raimbow 6 though they have a varied nationalities.
Edit: from the wiki on R6, originally it was to be on the HRT teams but due to the difficulty in authorizing for them to be deployed, the idea evolved to highly trained operators like HRT but with people from other nationalities. I remember in the R6 2nd game, rogue spear, they even had a south Korean operator.
Doubtful, since R6 is supposed to be an international anti-terrorism organisation, while the HRT is primarily for domestic incidents.
