    That is such a pretty Catt, and smelling of roses? OMG! I so want one now :)) great growing as always, lots of blooms on that psb :D good idea with the wire, I usually stake them up but I might try this with the drooping dendrobiums, think they will prefer this :) thanks for the tip|!

    i truly enjoy your video clips 100%! two things though... it's "cat-leya" not "cattle-leya"; second catlleya's is far from smelling like roses... miltionopsis are the ones that smell more like roses... :)

    Very, very nice blooming. Just one thing : you say ''might report after flowering''. If its new roots start after flowering, sure. Otherwise it is better to wait for the moment you can see the roots on the new growth starting to show.

    how long does it takes for phalaenopsis roots to regrow after timing rotten roots?

  • @ThePetraji
    @ThePetraji 10 лет назад

    Hi - one question: when you repot the Cattleya form this small clay pot, and considering the roots - which you so carefully nurtured - are growing through some of the holes, would it be ok to try and pull the roots through the holes or would that actually require breaking the pot.

    I have a cattleya mahalo X aloha, it doesn’t look anything like any other cattleya I’ve seen, idk how to care for it. It hasn’t bloomed since I got it last year for Mother’s Day. Do the grow more blooms for the same area where the flowers have been cut off?

    Hi Brad! I love watching your videos about orchids. Very informative, thank you. I am interested in purchasing one of your Catasetum Mellinium Magic Witchcraft. I can't find it anywhere here in B.C. Or if you know a place that sells them please let me know. Thanks.

    I need your help. I just received a Cattleya Pot. Netrasiri Starbright with all healthy green leaves and pseudobulbs, except one purple one. Is the purple one suffering for frostbite or an infection? Should I remove it? This one purple pseudobulb with its purple leaves looks healthy, except for the color--the color is not black, but purely purple.

    Is that spanish moss in the background ? or what exactly is that ? the one hanging . Also the yellow nepenthes pitchers look good.

    • @BradsGreenhouse
      @BradsGreenhouse  11 лет назад +1

      Yes, that is a few big bunches of Spanish moss, I think the Nepethes your looking at is a Ventricosa. It is just starting to vine and produce cute little pitchers

    Hi Brad, we youtubers love watching your videos - all kinds of interesting stuff but nobodys said anything so I will! Cattleya orchids came from the guy that discovered them - Cattley - so they called them cattleyas (cat - lee - uh) not cattle lay uh - there are no cows! haha Anyway I feel sorry for you now because if I'm right your going to have a hell of time switching. Now, I'll be watchink - Burr says haha.

    • @timcattley1056
      @timcattley1056 8 лет назад

      Brad, Burr Nelson is quite correct, the generic name comes from my ancestor William Cattley an Englishman but you are way off in pronunctiation which should be:-
      KAT-LE-YA
      You are turning a 3 syllable word into a four syllable word and also mispronouncing the double T spelling, by replacing it with the spoken letter D :-
      Kadd-a-lay-ah ! Please at least try to get Williams surname correct.

  • @koipondity
    @koipondity 11 лет назад

    Hi Brad,
    I recently acquired a large cattleya orchid. It appears to me to be a very healthy plant although it is very lopsided and top heavy with the newer pseudobulbs extending a few inches beyond its pot. It will not stand up on its own. Because of this I would like to repot it, however it is in its growing phase and has two new growths on it and it is expected to bloom in the summer. Should I wait until after it has finished blooming to repot it or should I go ahead and repot it now? Is it a bad idea to trim some of the dead roots while it is in its growing phase? I would like to hear your opinion on it.
    Thanks so much!
    -Amy

    • @BradsGreenhouse
      @BradsGreenhouse  11 лет назад

      I would wait until it is just growing this years new bulbs but before the new roots start to grow. trim the dead roots at the time of repotting.
