    I hated the ending with a passion. The book is definitely my favorite book of all time but the ending left me in shambles. I CRIED SO HARD! I like that they left the book as a choice for the reader as to if they get together or not. I definitely believe they will!!!

    • @dannyrand.
      @dannyrand. 3 года назад +1

      @@legionair3 Ben is late to everything based on what’s important to him. He was slow with Art at the beginning because he hadn’t mentally moved on from Hudson. He was bad and late in school because he didn’t know what he wanted in life. But by the end of the book you see what’s important to Ben by how fast he suddenly moves. He bolts out running to the hospital to see Dylan and then he wakes up super early to organize Art’s scavenger hunt. And in the Epilogue he says he’s mostly on time for his new creative writing classes. (I just finished the book for the first time last weekend! Loved it!!)

    [SPOILER WARNING]
    This is probably the most real YA novel I've ever read. The real life stakes this book throws at us is hurts so much more because they are real. The worst part is that it all makes sense. There's no other way around it but that way. This is why I'm so hung up on this story. It gives us an ending but a very unsatisfying one at that. Not unsatisfying that no lose ends were left but unsatisfying in the way life gets you. It wasn't absolute. Their love was the only thing constant in the end but all the other stuff are not. I hope they give us some extra content soon where their relationship is given another chance. Most likely, Arthur will be the one to fall out of it tbh... I'm already crying just thinking about a reunion between the two.

    • @monsterkiller7218
      @monsterkiller7218 5 лет назад +7

      The book was really amazing! Except for that epilogue that fricking they did. It wasn't even subtle when they kicked us with reality. The epilogue really killed the buzz for me. Its like Becky and Adam spat on both Arthur and Ben's face, ESPECIALLY Ben and they're still happy. I hate it and I'm crying with you

    OK, this is absolutely the best bool Ive ever read in my whole life. All the realistic thing mixed with magic and universe stuff are absolutely amazing and well built,but I disagree with you when you talked about the ending. Im kinda a cliché guy with romance, I really believe in soulmates finding themselves and staying together they whole life through the difficults, and that why i didnt like that ending. The whole book brings a message that says "whenever you and your partner go through a lot of hard things you can build a beautiful not perfect love story but perfect in you own way", and in the end they just """forget""" everything. Yeah, it would have been really strange a teenager just move to NYC to stay dating his boyfriend that he only knew 1 month ago, but they didnt even tried date in distance, an online date or something. Didnt like Arthur with all that guys and I absolutely disliked Mikey and all that epilogue. Just soooo not well as the rest of the book. The book was so freaking good for having that ending.
    But I loved the whole book, and I wanna read the other works from Adam(but they will not be perfect as What if its us). Its the most brilliant book I have ever seen in my whole life, so well builted, with so good written. Arthur is literally like me in every single thing he does, I absolutely understand what he did and why he did. And I wanna read the sequel for having they together again. Thing that point to the fact that they end up together is that they both end single, in love, in contact and living close(arthur moved to Connecticut, wich is pretty next to NYC). What you guys think about all of it?

    *Spoilers for the ending!!*
    It's been over twelve hours since I finished the book and I'm still crying. I HATE it.
    They could have ended up together, they SHOULD have ended up together. I agree that Arthur needed to graduate back in Georgia, but he could have gone studying at NYU or Columbia. Especially since he didn't go to Yale.
    I read books to escape reality, even for a bit, and a grand reunion between these two would have been magical.
    They obviously still love each other, and not in an a-platonic way.
    I feel robbed from this ending and after being so invested in the story, a bit heartbroken too

    This book gave me sooooo much feels. Like I hadn't cried so bad over a book since I read Eleanor and Park.
    Ben and Arthur's love story is my dream. The authors made the book such a rollercoaster of touching the skies to sinking at the bottom of the earth. It was dreamy and realistic at the same time which not many writers can do. At the end while bawling my eyes out I realized that this book has become a big moment of my life. This is the book I finished in 8 hours non stop and I was left broken with romantic fantasies about my future.
    All in all, this book lived up to my expectations and beyond. I couldn't have asked for anything else. Even the ending was in it's way perfect.

    I love this book so much!!! It was so aaaahhh, like I cant even describe how awesome it was. It was like a slice of life, rom com, and fluffy angst and it just, all I can say is that I'm glad that I picked this book. I literally laughed out loud, cried and it made me feel emotions I never thought I would feel while reading. I honestly wish this would be a movie. Like, I would definitely watch that. It was like WOW. The ending was super unexpected for me. I honestly thought that they were just gonna have a long distance relationship and...I cried. I do not regret this book. I enjoyed this book so much! It was a fast read for me too, because it’s pace was so well done. The characters were set up appropriately and did have some development through the plot, which I enjoyed! I was also really glad that it was so relevant in a teenagers/young adults life; things like Insta, Hamilton, Dave & Busters, etc. I was okay with the ending, only because it seemed fair and right, but I was kinda stagnant on it. And hunni, I laughed so much while reading this, especially Arthur’s narrations! I can honestly see this as a movie and wish a company would offer to do this! It’d be so good!!

These references to musicals and stuff are so on point and I reherad the Hamilton soundtrack a lot latetly ^^ The ending left me satisfied. I felt a little bad for Ben since he is single and hasn't kissed anyone apart from Arthur. What I loved is the final conclusion which appears to be the ultimum of an open ending! They are still best friends and they don't have a clue what is about to come up. :) But they know that they can start from the exact point where they left...

I got to the scene where they were saying their goodbyes and I just started BAWLING. LIKE A BABY. I was INCONSOLABLE. And of course, this, THIS is when everybody starts to enter the classroom. AND THEY ALL JUST STARED AT ME like “omg. Are you okay? Did somebody die?” And I’m just sitting there in a puddle of my own tears like “No, no, I’m fine.” I WAS NOT FINE. The Upsides of Unrequited isn’t really worth the read. It’s not really relevant in the Simonverse and the characters were extremely flat with no real values- and the entire plot was predictable.

    It was a super cute story. But like Harry Potter, I did not like the epilogue at all. They had this really special connection that was built up again and again throughout the book and then for it to just end like it did. Felt lackluster and just sad. I'd say the only thing I did like about it was how intense their feelings for each other kind of reversed. Arthur was head over heels the entire time, and Ben was coming from a breakup so his feelings took longer to develop, obviously. And then Arthur is playing the field a bit and Ben is hung up on him and I'm just like ugh. Please get back together. Hate that it ended the way it did. I read to escape reality and get my happy ending. Maybe there will be a sequel to make it better. I'll hold out hope. BTW the audio book is so good and the voice actor for Arthur = FLAWLESS.

    There's one thing I found amazing in this book. Becky and Adam thought about little details about gay relationships and it makes their relationship very real. It's seems, as always, that Becky has stolen the diary of a young gay boy

    I just finished reading it today *Sorry for not being updated in books i just currently into reading thats why* Regarding the Ending of it, I was like "WHAT THE FVCK THE 'WHAT IF THINGY' GO GET ARTHUR!" but yeah it ends there. And I googled immediately if there is a sequel and glad that It has but after I saw the preview of the sequel it disappoint me to the point that I hate Ben :( Gawd this book is not giving you the vibes of Happy Ending we always looking for this book throws to us the 'Reality' that might happen to every people. Im still depressed and it was 3hrs after i finished the book but im still sad HAHAHAHAHA
