What exactly is the custom EQ and are you sure it does better in bass than the XBASS mode from Tribit? To be honest I'm a bit confused. In the test from "Storytripper HD" one month ago, the Tribit seems to have the upperhand in bass. So the complete opposite result that you have gotten. Additionally, the JBL in your test has been on AC, while the Tribit isn't, although it most likely profits from that as well. Any reason not to hook it up to make the test more fair? So you are doing a bass comparison of these two speakers but don't use the bass heavy EQ on the Tribit, but you do on the JBL?
I use my custom EQ because it sounds better. I said the xbass is more bassy, but I didn't mean it's much more bassy, but just a little more bassy, and also the custom eq is only a little louder than the xbass it's not that big of a difference. The xbass is too bass heavy sounds like it's only bassat low volume and at high volume. But when set to 100% you won't get much more bass than the custom eq. It already distorts on my custom eq which is not as bassy as xbass. And speaking of the ‘Storytripper HD’, this guy has a very weak microphone that doesn't capture deep bass, so any speaker that is boosted in the mid/high bass range will be more powerful than the one that has deep bass boosted which is the JBL. The tribit, for example, mainly has huge boost around 60hz. The JBL encore was plugged in due to my difficult song, the battery didn't last and the battery dropped very quickly in the app (some kind of voltage spike?) and dropped 10% from the battery every 5 seconds. However, when I plugged it in it was back to its original state which is what it was before and as the battery was getting smaller (below 20%) (in theory) so was the volume, An AC powered speaker only provides more volume overall, not more bass. I also don't use the bassiest setting on Tribit because it won't be bass but rather distortions even tho it doesn't have that much more bass, but due to having less highs and mids and also having slightly more bass at that same time, it can cause more distortions, so on my setting you will hear more real bass than on xbass. On less demanding tracks (not as heavy as these) you'll get more bass on the xbass, but the limiter still works and will gently remove the bass so speaker is safe (sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't work) and this Blast 2 doesn't have unlimited bass power capabilities Have a good day

Am I the only one who finds the Encore scratchy (highs) and no mids whatsoever, or my headphones are trash? I only like the punch from the upper base to be better on the encore (it is bass reflex also, not passive membranes, but prone to fartin), but then again the tweeters are much closer, so I expect muffled sound when not in front of it. And since this is a party speaker, not a sound bar, you are expected to be offset to it axis. So Blast 2 for me.
Blast 2 is really muddy in person. It's very boomy and the treble response is so bad when listening off axis. listening to the sides isn't that worse but when listening above it, it sounds like a cheap speaker.
