BOB ODENKIRK IS A JOY TO WATCH ON ANY TYPE OF SHOW. WE LOVE HIM. A NATURAL TALENT.
Bob's one of those rare gems that's not only brilliant, but also seems like a genuinely kind, humble dude.
He also has a normal wife he's loyal to and seems to be a good dad.
@@edp3202 Seems that way. His son Nate seems like he’s got a lot going for him and is very funny in his own right.
@@samdustinchris sometimes the good guys do finish first.
I had no idea that Bob Odenkirk wrote for SNL!!! I really had no idea he wrote the infamous skit where Chris Farley was a motivational speaker who lived in a van down by the river!! I just want to say that one of my all time favorite Mr. Show skits was "My feet hurt". I love this podcast so much!!! God bless y'all!!
My shoes hurt. From the Bob Lamonta Story. From the episode Peanut Butter, Eggs & Dice
"My shoes hurt too, son. My shoes hurt too. "😊
Nobody was such an insanely good movie. Watched it three times. Brilliant. Thank goodness he made it through that heart attack. Now bring on a sequel!!!
This show has been my glory 🕳 hole, it’s such a pleasure, I can’t stop but I can’t watch. I know people complain about them interrupting but the guests for me, are just prompts for my two elvish comedic medicine men. I love it.
The scene in Nobody where he yells at the mobster about coming after his family gave me chills and made you really understand that you do not want to cross this guy...
Didn’t know Bob was originally from Berwyn and Naperville, IL. He’s a national treasure; been watching him since his Mr. Show days with David Cross and the Ben Stiller Show!
Bob is Awesome! Glad he made it through the Heart Attack and is still with us!!
Odenkirk is that rare ultra brilliant comedy mind that is light-years beyond most. I became a fan when I saw him on the Ben Stiller Show.
When Mr. Show came out, I realized that he is probably the greatest comedy writer of my generation. I always followed his work and when the Saul character appeared, I couldn't have been happier that he was finally getting the massive recognition he deserved.
Bob is one of the people who I just love to hear talk. So humble, smart and genuine. 💖
David Cross' speech when Bob had his walk of fame star inducted is worth a definite watch.
All three of them are amazing. This was a great interview. Bob sounded so relaxed and happy to be there.
I know right? They are having such a great time, It really is like being a fly on the wall.
My favorite interview from this podcast so far.
I love everything Bob is in.
Bob 👍
Same!!
That's what she said??
He was great on I Think You Should Leave
if there were ever a live action 'rick and morty' movie, bob odenkirk HAS to play Rick Sanchez.
Love Odenkirk. Mr Show was always my favorite sketch comedy growing up.
At about 10:55- I love that Spade gave the ‘Young Guns’ reference. Also, I love you guys. You are beautiful humans.
Another great interview! I appreciate your heart attack comments. Very good advice! I had a mild heart attack last May and had to get a stent. I live in Albuquerque and your comments about heart attacks and Albuquerque made me laugh. Dana's comments on getting a stent match my experiences so far. It was debilitating at first but regular cardio rehab exercise quickly got me back to feeling alive again. Glad Bob and Dana recovered from their heart episodes and are doing well today.
FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER! THAT SCENE ENCOMPASSES A BEAUTIFUL SHARED MOMENT IN TIME WITH MY DAUGHTER. WE STILL LAUGH TOGETHER ABOUT IT.
“And I come from Arizona with a banjo on my knee.” Love you guys!
Love show. Helps me so much to fill empty space love having something e enjoyable when alone at work on the road driving. Spade please do another sitcom I've watched just shoot me and rules of engagement a million times they play in my garages tv 24/7 u r my "radio"
I am rolling through Chris Farley's first year on SNL, 1999 to 1991. One of my favorite skits was the fake "Bad Idea Jeans" ad. It was one of the rare skits with Bob in it.
I absolutely love Nobody. I love how committed Bob was to the role and the training. It makes me think of John Wick if he qualified for AARP.
We are in an epidemic of loneliness, I hope you find someone
This comment is so funny when you realize Keanu is literally only two years younger than Bob 😂
@@planetfierce but as we all know Keanu is a blood drinking immortal.
@@peacecitizen1 true. He keeps up a good facade though…for now 👀
awesome...FYI...had MY heart attack at *39*...NOT obese...so if you're having chest pains off 'n on for months, and skipped beats, AND you know you have high cholesterol (that was all I knew at that time) IT can happen to anyone. It happened about 2 yrs after I found out I had high cholesterol btw, so I was on statins and totally changed by diet which wasn't that bad to begin with, but it still didn't prevent it. But the good thing is I was already so used to going to the ER w/chest pains and skipped beats, that when it really came time to go, I was ready. (FYI, the whole day before I had bad stomach pains/'acid reflux' that kept getting worse, then later that night that pain got worse and I could also feel it in my back, and THEN I threw up outta the blue, which I never do, and I thought 'ok I just needed to throw up, bad stomach thing' BUT within idk, 10 mins that pain came right back, and around that same time I noticed my heart beat acting wacky, so I knew I had to go 911 quick. SO yeah, stay alert, learn the signs, and don't let your Dr's treat you like an idiot if you have symptoms and they think you're too young etc)**
'Nobody' is excellent, the acting/music/direction/music and of course now known, the editing.
Mike Toomey and Larry Rheem. Mike Toomey actually sat me down after doing a show and taught me how important it was to never run a comedy show in a restaurant when people are eating.
. I followed his advice.
Absolutely love this podcast! I'm amazed this doesn't have way more subscribers.
Such a good fucking episode . Laughed out loud fifty times 😂
These interviews are so entertaining! Thank you for providing content on YT that's enjoyable and time well spent.
I second that
I just bought the audiobook. Great episode.
Wow. Great interview. I’m old so I have liked Bob since “Mr. Show” and was a latecomer to “Breaking Bad” because I refuse to watch shows people tell me I need to watch. Bob is brilliant and super funny. His Jesus in the “Marshal the 13th Apostle skit” 😂😂
"I AM the son of God, Marshal"
These podcasts have been addicting and cheaper than crack.
Alprazolam?
I was late to the party and just watched breaking bad this year. As soon as Saul was introduced I had my favorite character and even told my wife “I want to see more of this guy!” You can imagine how stoked I was to discover “better call Saul” was a spin off that I could binge watch immediately after breaking bad. I liked BCS more than BB! This guy is talented and charismatic as hell.
Bob was a kickass guest!
So insightful and sensitive, not surprised there are so many layers to Bob
I loved seeing Bob and Rob in Wayne's World 2.
Would have loved to have Bob as my waiter at Ed Debevic's. For those who don't know - it was one of those places where the wait staff dressed up as characters and danced on the tables and gave customers a hard (but funny) time.
Bob really rocks!
It's clear to me that for just about everyone who works on SNL, it is the central experience of his or her life.
“I just got to the Comedy, Comedy part” David spade
😅
Just the mere fact he could hold a job in hollywood that long is a blessing. He probably just needs a hug 🤗
I love Bob ! Breaking bad and Better call Sal are the best ! I havent seen his movie yet !
I feel like he made it possible for Tim and Eric to come in and do what they wanted. That kicked the door off of the hinges.
Tim and Eric are unbearable.
@@The3Stooges just like the three stooges
@@The3Stoogesjust stop. You don’t like comedy.
@@pigeonhed13 I watched several episodes of their "we're strange and not funny so that makes us funny" style of comedy and really wanted to like them. Then I heard a gunshot outside. Someone had shot and killed my dog. I found that funnier than Tim and Eric.
"I am not a robot!" -Vaughn
Odenkirk is my favorite standup. A guy who can read bazooka joe comics and kill the audience.
His new show, Lucky Hank, is really good.
SNL sounds like hell to work at for a young person.
SUPERIOR
Thank you guys
22:39 For me with Odenkirk, I am pretty sure it was NewsRadio that turned me into a fan. I'm certain I had seen him here and there before then, most notably on Seinfeld and probably in a few movies (I did see Clean Slate in the theater as a teenager :-)). But on NewsRadio when he was in the barbershop quartet, that was when I first learned his name and then I started watching Mr Show. Been a fan of his since then.
He was on NewsRadio as a doctor on one occasion as well.
@@tempsitch5632 Yep. But the barbershop quartet episode is the one that made me want to learn his name.
@@shsrpr Ah, you were being sagacious.
you wrote down by the river!!! Wow that line is in our family lmao :D people say this and i laugh my ass off well its pretty much gone but you know. I love down by the river
Mr. Show was awesome
It’s far better than most sketch shows.
WORKING ON SNL MUST HAVE BEEN A PRESSURE KEG TO SURVIVE. SOUNDS LIKE FUCKING HELL.
i know most of your movies David because i have sons! They love your movies. Me too :D
What a cute picture of my fake boyfriend.
Naperville Illinois? Holy crap! Are you talking Ogden 6?
OMG American Graffiti is a great movie.
i wish we could see you guys. I like seeing the talk
I think the video versions are behind a paywall.
My Grandmother, Doris, had a heart attack at 48. My Mom 50. If you know about residential schools you can see why.
Show of show led the way for Tim and Eric
Me. Heidecker is crushingly brilliant in The Comedy
From a clown to a dramatic sincere vulnerable raw performance
Doing cool stuff is what life is all about.
I know this sounds like I am blowing smoke but this is the God’s truth- I got to meet John Wayne right after he finished filming The Shootist.I was in 4th grade and my dad took us because his Aunt was in town for a nun’s conversation at the Hilton in Chicago. I didn’t know much but I knew who John Wayne was and I knew enough that he was three sheets to the wind. I got to shake his hand
Goody for me. It didn’t hit me til years later that was a cool experience. The shortest and the quiet man are my favorite JW movies
It pays to be Irish Catholic
I would cut off my LEFT PINKY for Bob to star in a SYFY movie where his character is named ...." CAPTAIN ODENKIRK!!" ( He goes where NODEN HAS GONE BEFORE!! )
How many careers got their start or a bump because of American Graffiti? Ron Howard ended up getting Happy Days because of it. Harrison Ford, Suzanne Sommers, Cindy Williams, Richard Dryfuss, Charles Martin Smithetc. It really is amazing how this cast went on to other things. And of course they had Wolfman Jack for crying out loud.
I admire David Spade, and regret that I never spoke to him when I lived in LA. I saw him about a hundred times at Rockin' Reily's or The Third Stop or Locanda Veneta, or Sports Club LA. Never once did I have the balls to talk to him. He even sat right next to me one night at The Third Stop, and I STILL didn't talk to him. I'm such a pussy!
I still freeze up every time I'm with the real Troy. 😮
The only good thing about no video is I'm not tempted to look at screen. But other than that it would be awesome to have video. You guys are legends and you get a lot of goats.
I wonder if Bob Odenkirk has ever worked with Steve Oedekerk? Two geniuses in very different ways with very similar names.
Steve is a genius? Which thumb feature showed you that?
@@pigeonhed13 maybe he really loves Ace Ventura

TOussaint? Can’t seem to find it
I think my brother n law, Pat Samson, resembles in humor and looks, Me. Odenkirk
I have no heart. I STILL have plaque on my teeth though. Astros!
I can't find anything on the movie Tucson. Was it ever made or did they just write it?
Scouring the internet a year later, I'm also finding nothing. Came back to the comments afterward to find no answers. More lost people searching for the same answers.
I found a Vultute article. Here's an excerpt that clarifies.:
"So what was the first movie screenplay that you ever wrote?
It was called Tucson, and it was for Dana Carvey. It was a character that he never did but that he did for me. He wanted me to write a movie about it. It was written for Paramount. It was about an Irish guy in the Wild West who has a fantasy of what cowboys are like. He comes to the Wild West and he tries to be a gunslinger, but he’s hapless and as sweet as Carvey is. It was a fun little movie to write, and it never went anywhere."
I can't find this movie Tucson on Dana or Lovitz IMDB, anyone have a lead?

I don’t know if it was Show of shows but I distinctly remember
Me. Odenkirk having a huge mole in his upper lip and I asked, why? It was so random and funny
What is "show of shows"? Do you mean Mr. Show?
SNL, KCOP, midnight
I know that time is limited but having Odenkirk on and not speaking about the genius that he, David Cross and Brian Posehn seems like a miss on your part. Even the work he did with Spade and Foley went unmentioned. This guy worked with three of the best David’s in comedy (Cross,Spade and Foley) and it was barely touched on if at all. 😢
why no video?
It sure save space
I think you can see video if you are a 'member' $$$
The only B.O. that doesn't stink, that bad
Can’t understand why he thinks he didn’t contribute.I’m sue he gave a lot more than he thought. Some people give nothing. If you have 1 or 2 big ideas that’s worth a trillion.
331!
I did a little shitty MC work for a couple of years back when Bob was still in Chicago Karen bark was there like to me I don't think I brought Larry Reba on it any stage but they're just little crappy comedy stupid things I threw together and in a couple of restaurants while people were eating so I learned a lot about how to be a good MC and one was never run a comedy show in a restaurant while people are eating
Pfft, he's nobody!.....Well he is!
U2 are way kool.....But, I betcha cant get BONO as a guest.......ur ratings go SKY high........that'd be kool
Uh short/funny version next time maybe. That was exhausting like BB and j s.
