Juno Flies Past the Moon Ganymede and Jupiter, With Music by Vangelis

- On June 7, 2021, NASA’s Juno spacecraft flew closer to Jupiter’s ice-encrusted moon Ganymede than any spacecraft in more than two decades. Less than a day later, Juno made its 34th flyby of Jupiter. This animation provides a “starship captain” point of view of each flyby. For both worlds, JunoCam images were orthographically projected onto a digital sphere and used to create the flyby animation. Synthetic frames were added to provide views of approach and departure for both Ganymede and Jupiter.

Still gone way too soon!!!!
Indeed Vangelis was great composer. His music covered the earth and cosmos. Epilogue in El Greco album touches so deeply. A fan from India.
The swirled clouds reminds me of van Goghs 'Starry Night' absolutely beautiful
My thoughts as well
I first seen a painting of his 30 yrs ago, and immediately Jupiter popped into my mind.
Van Gogh also made a series of paintings of the surface of Jupiter, called "The Juno Nights".
From Blade Runner to Carl Sagan's Cosmos Vangelis is so right for a video like this.

Yes but why in the close-in fly by jupiter the camera loses resolution instead to maintain the details of finest atmospheric objects?
@@zdenekburian1366 - Coming that close increased it's speed from 40,000 mph to 130,000. It traversed the planet pole-to-pole in 90 min, and Jupiter is HUGE. Just a guess but maybe it's harder to take perfect pics from that close at that speed.
@@SamM-gl9zc Because i think this is just 3D animated with Textures slapped on from the images taken during the flight. Which makes this less cooler than i thought it was going to be :(

Jupiter's cloud patterns are so beautiful, yet very intimidating-looking.

There was a Juno Fly By with 2001 Space Oddysee music. Anyone knows the link?

RIP Vangelis; thank you for the music...
RIP Vangelis Papathanasiou :(
This monumental composer is no longer walking among us, he set sail for the universe.
Fair winds on your sails then and following cosmic seas, on your never ending journey amongst the planets and stars now...
Thank you for having existed here!
We shared the same time and space with Vangelis my friend.
We have been blessed with his music which will travel through time for a long time.

Played at lower speed and with strained music still powerful. Amazed at seamless alignment of images considering relative speeds.
Gorgeous film and excellent music choice. Love Vangelis!
RIP VANGELIS.... proud for his kindness for his talents... Proud of him to be a good man and proud to be a Greek...but one country it's such a limit for him...his destiny is and was the UNIVERSE!!!
He is in the company of Socrates, Plato, Euripides and other giants of classical Greece!
Rip to the entire homeless population who could have been rehomed in all of England with the money it cost to fly a camera past an uninhabitable planet.

Thank you NASA and thank you Vangelis, for continuing to show us the universe. And for much more centuries!
It would be nice to see a raw version of this as well. I can't tell what is "real" and what is "CG". A raw version would make it more "NASA" and less "Star Wars Movie" - I think there is a bigger thirst for rough Vesta style images - which seem more believable. My two cents. Great work on all respects.
