This was refreshing to watch. Clearly there were some challenges with the event. When some competitors choose not to come back on day 2, most of us can imagine the conversations that were had. What's great is that this video has presented the event with acknowledgement of the challenges, and provides a good learning opportunity for race committees and competitors alike.
Just a tip. When de-weeding during a race, it is illegal to push a boat away when finished. The boat must be placed back on the water and move away under its own power.
All boats in this event were carrying weed to a lesser or greater degree. This affected maneuverability of boats in a multitude of ways. Those with rudder weed had to try to get to the bank (on port) with no possibility of avoiding "right of way" boats. Judging mark roundings became very difficult. Even the slightest luff stopped boats dead in the water. Tacking often ended up in irons. Avoiding boats dead in the water became a nightmare.
