Thank you for this video! I appreciate that you said that training is ongoing for the dog and the human and that even the humans don't get it sometimes. Your videos are the only ones that make me feel like it's ok to not get it the first time.
My boy Scout will be 5 months old on Saturday (April 1). He is part Rottweiler, part German Shepherd and is a loving goofy boy. He is pretty good at his basic commands like sit, like down etc. In the house, but outside he gets very distracted. I find when I take him for walks, I have to bring treats. I do let him sniff a bit but he will linger forever if I let him lol. He also has a problem with eating stuff off the ground which I try to fish out of his mouth. We are working on his leave it which is good in some situations but not all. We are working through it.

It sounds like you're doing a great job with Scout! We definitely recommend taking treats on walks, especially high value treats because the outside world is sooo distracting. We are glad you are working on leave it and drop it. Those will be much better than fishing things out of his mouth. With time and training Scout will learn those skills!

Thank you for another wonderful video. We have been doing training since age 7 weeks when Gigi came home. Gigi is now 19 months old. Training is going great. We have learned so much together. Our newest training task is roll over. We are about 45% there with it. Any suggestions are always appreciated.

Thanks for watching. It sounds like you and Gigi are doing great! Rollover is a fun one to teach and it's great that you taught some of the basics first. Just be sure to have her practice this skill on a soft or carpeted surface. A hard floor might be a little uncomfortable for her spine!
