  • So this is a video all about whether or not popular wedding greenery will last outside of water. I basically did a test over 48 hours to see whether these greens would be as vibrant and fresh looking, or whether they would seem dry and dead.
    Create an Amazon Wedding Registry: amzn.to/2QhpgTu
    WHY DID I DO THIS VIDEO: I desperately looked for this info online when I was wedding planning last year so that I could DIY the greens going down my reception tables but ended up not finding the info, feeling worried, and going through the florist to set it all up. Folks - this cost me 6x what it would have if I DIYed it and based on my test I found that I DEFINITELY could have DIYed it. Sad. But the good news is I can share this info with you guys (the world), so hope you enjoy.
    GREENERY I COVER: Israeli ruscus, salal, silver dollar eucalyptus, baby blue eucalyptus, Italian ruscus, variegated aspidistra, aspidistra elatior, asparagus leaf. Leather leaf and myrtle are also good!
    WHERE DID I PURCHASE MY GREENERY: So I live in Ontario Canada and I got it from Forest of Flowers, which has several different locations. But try to find a flower wholesaler and shop around for good prices!

    In water, Israeli Ruscus lasts WEEKS. I got a bouquet for our anniversary (IR and roses), 13 days ago. Threw out the roses already, but IR is still going. I transferred the IR to a vase with Statices (statices are from a 23 day old bouquet). So pretty! Israeli Ruscus has become my favorite greenery!

    what is your opinion on making DIY lengths of garland with the italian or israeli ruckus then adding in flowers and refrigerating- would you recommend refrigerating the flowers e.g. roses scattered throughout the garlands OR adding flowers with water picks on the stems to better preserve the flowers?

    I have a question. Do you think I could buy all of my greenery 2 days before, make all the centerpieces and runners and just leave them inside in a little bit of water until the day of?
    I’m trying to DIY those pieces, I just don’t want to leave them out for 24 hours without water.

    • @DIYDalia
      @DIYDalia  4 года назад +2

      It would depend on the type of greenery but if it is a kind of greenery that would last out of water for 24 hours (like the ones I tested) then you could absolutely do what you planned and buy 2 days before keeping them in water. They would be even more fresh than leaving them out for sure. Try to leave them in a coolish room, away from direct sunlight and you should be good!
      If it isn't a type of green I tested then I'd recommend buying a stem or two and just testing it out yourself. But I think most types of greens should be fine.

    Thanks for the video. It was very informative. My only wish is that Lamb's Ear was included in the line-up of leaves. I have never created an arrangement without ensuring each leaf is in a water source. I appreciate knowing how the leaves will behave if they are not inserted in a soaked floral foam.
