- www.hypeplustv.com/ - Rachel True is easily a recognized face in Hollywood after she would appear in films like Half Baked, CB4, Craft, and hit series Half & Half. In this episode of Unforgotten, we explore what the actress has been up to and why people may have started seeing her less on screen. Symphony Thompson reports. I’m right here & on an Amazon show called Harlem ..had some health issues after H&H that affected work..All good now
Yeah, I thought that was her on Harlem, but she looked a little different. She plays the owner of a plant shop.
Love you!❤
Money! Thats why.
Beautiful Dear Bless You 😘💘
I love! I’m glad there are so many views.
She hasn't aged at all. Rachel True is like fine wine.
Facts
@@deontethegreatone1367you mean True? In my 2 Chainz voice 😂
she's pretty, however, she's aging naturally.
She did say "Black don't crack, but black does sag" 😸
@@cedricwade926 Rachel doesn't even wear a lot of makeup though.
UPN had all the good shows back in the day
One on one was great with alexander flex
Girlfriends everybody hates Chris and Eve I'm feeling nostalgic but I was 6 😂 I surprisingly still vividly remember the final fall lineup
Facts
UPN stood for U People's Network!!
Y’all remember Eve? That was a hilarious show. Great cast. Brian Hooks was hilarious.
To this day I Half and Half is one of my favorite shows of ALL TIME.
MINE TOO 👍🏾
I watch it on Netflix every day!
I like Rachel True. I can cold heartedly say, she was a great actress not just on the tv sitcom Half & Half but in general.
*”Cold* heartedly”? What was cold hearted about what you said? I think you mean “wholeheartedly”. 🥰
@@hereforit2347 Coldheartedly is a whole OTHER level of honest.
@@thecosmicblueautie: 😂😂
Dang she was born in 66. She has always looked great!
I love watching her on The Craft as well as Half and Half
Rachel True, Lisa Bonet, and Cree Summers made it feel ok to be the blk girl with taste that vary from the cultural mainstream. I’m so thankful they were around during my formative years 🫶🏽
Those are all mixed/ biracial women🤨 so them not "conventional/ mainstream black interests" makes sense
@@shawnie2084 right…& plus, her "cultural mainstream" comment makes no sense…if anything, it's really the darkest black women & girls who actually suffer from not being "conventionally/culturally mainstream" due to being African & "white washed…" & the gag is, it's not just other black folks…biracial/mixedrace females often come at us for it too🤷🏿♀️no one wants to talk about that though.
@@shawnie2084 regardless of their racial/ethnic backgrounds, they share a phenotype with plenty of black girls, me included, and were presented as mono-racial which again opened up a space for us to explore ideas and activities outside of the culture and community. They also made a lot of girls more comfortable with their natural hair back in the early 90s before there was a whole movement 💫
@@didyallseethat499this is So true for me also
Makes me sad they were going to have a Craft reunion without her. A lot of these cult classics many of us loved had some sorry people behind them. Someone should have advocated for her presence there.
Yes exactly
its telling on how they want to control the story. these are characters and Rachel was a lead in a Horror Movie that did not die and had an impact. Just like the Bonnie character on Vampire Diaries who was horribly mistreated , Let Bonnie and Rachel be in the new craft and tear it up
The actress who played Angela in Boy Meets World had a similar experience behind the scenes.
Half & Half was such a gem...I was heartbroken when it was canceled, and yes, Mona was my favorite. 🥰 Big DeeDee was a close second...Her interactions with Phyllis had me on the damn FLOOR, chyle! Lmao!
So glad to see that Rachel's doing it her way and still thriving.
I loved Rachel True 😍🥰especially on "Half and Half" as Mona Thorne.
I also grew up to her being in "CB4","Craft" and "Half Baked" 😂.
I miss them UPN days with "Half and Half", "The Parkers", "Girlfriends" "One on One", "All of Us", all of that was dope then.
My favorite episode of Half and Half was with my dawg Merlin Santana as Dante' Miss my Dawg Rest up Merlin Santana 🙏
Yeah those films you just mention are all classic films. Two work with two of the biggest comedians in the world and star in a hit sitcom that's pretty dope.
Awwww man, the memories of Merlin😢
Its funny how the Craft cast called her "not as famous" cuz she's def the ONLY member I know by name not just face
And we're are all those other cast members they all fell off you know white girls are always jealous of pretty black women like that 😂
I loved Half & Half!!! Good for Rachel for speaking up. That would have not been a true Craft Reunion without Rachel!
I love Rachel. I follow her on Instagram. I used to have inbox chats with her. We had❤ a couple phone conversations too. She is so damn real and cool. She is literally, Mona from Half/Half.
How did you get her number
👀
Tell more
That's really cool
That's fiya
She could easily play Spice-Girl 'Mel-B' as they look so alike!!
They look similar.
They used that on a half and half episode 😂 Spencer had her to pretend to be mel b from the spice girls to get in a club😂
I miss half & half she one of my favorites
After all of these years in Hollywood, she's still being discriminated against. She tweeted that several conventions had booked her 3 costars and never invited her. She only found out because Fairuza Balk told her. My question is why would the 3 other ladies accept the invitations without her? The missed several opportunities to appear to be an ally.
That's so bizarre. Fans are always going to ask about her. They can't pretend she wasn't there. I guess they meant for the craft to be all white but I don't think the movie would been as popular
As long as white supremacists exist, so will discrimination.
@@vanessarichardson110 😂 she wasn't the main character! the movie still would've been a success because the other actors in the movie were really good at what they do and were very well known at the time. She's amazing don't get me wrong but she was just a lacky in that film.
@@chopsyang7886 what are you laughing about?
@@chopsyang7886 No the show would not have been successful without her. Don't down play her talent.
The did her so wrong on the convention circuit. I'm glad she and her co-stars spoke up and shes getting her flowers.
Am I the only one who LOVED Rachel as Dave Chappelle's love interest,"Mary Jane", on Half-Baked?
She was great in that film
@@angelaholmes8888 That's how I fell in love with "Mary Jane (Rachel True)".
@@angelaholmes8888 She really was !
She was great!
I loved her in "Half-Baked" & 'Half & Half', 'Hangin' With Mr. Cooper'. Though mainly as Dave Chappelle's love interest for sure in 'Half-Baked' that was such a dope movie with a cartoon feel to it lol
Loved Half and Half. Hope she knows that we are still thinking of her. Thanks for the update
Love her on Half and Half.
She kiillllllleeeed it, in The Craft ❤
And aged like perfection.
I love Rachel and Ms. Thelma Hopkins. They are true gems.
I loved Rachel True! I had a picture of her in my locker in high school! I loved the Craft and Half baked!
I need to get my reading Ms.True!
She’s on Facebook, I follow her and she has multiple projects going on.
Nice
I always love her roles on the craft and probably half & half.
I first seen her on half baked and ive been in love with her ever since. I think she is so beautiful..🤩🤩🤩
Much respect to Rachel True. It is great to know this as I only seen a few series, and movies with her in. I respect her grind knowing that she put in since, back in the early 90's.
Liked her in the craft 1996 and Loved her i. half baked as Mary Jane, unsung legend black queen.
How do they hold a reunion without Rachel?
It's ridiculous, when you think about it!
Anti blackness that’s why
That's blatant disrespect.
I literally still watch half and half everyday it's my favorite show
I love Rachael True. It was Half and Half for me. The whole cast was great. I haven’t seen her lately but she has other talents. I like her spirituality. She’ll never be forgotten.
She’s def unforgotten in my book, memorable , a baddie and funny too. She def put in work with what she’s done
I've loved her since CB4! She's always seemed like such a cool chick. Plus, her hair was always an inspiration. In a time when EVERYONE had a perm, I was natural and she was too. She, Tia & Tamera, and Cree Summer will always be special to me for that reason.
I think a lot of people know her from The Craft. That movie has a cult following. Her storyline was best written in my opinion.
I didn’t know who she was until Half & Half came out.
@@Mr_Mack88the craft wasnt marketed towards us
@@sp123all skinfolk aint kinfolk.
Man she was my damn crush in the craft.. She's too beautiful
God bless her and may she never
be forgotten!!!!!!!!
She's always gorgeous no matter what decade, my kind of woman.
😍👌🏽
I loved Half and Half! I really wish we could’ve known if Mona and Ol boy ended up together
I honestly always felt like she’s not the best actress but unlike some…..basic(?) actresses she’s HILARIOUS. She does a good job of being entertaining, hitting marks in a very awkward way that really suits her. She has her own niche style. Always be a fave for me. Everyone is not an Oscar winner and that’s OK.
Yes you are right she’s funny and she could have waned into being pretty but she went with funny
I love Rachel True. I always follow her shows, and she is on Harlem, and I follow that as well. Keep doing you Rachel True.
She was once mistaken for scary spice 😂
I used to and still do have a big ass crush on her, this women will always be one of my celebrity crushes.
How sweet!!!! She is soooo underrated to me!!! ❤
I'm so glad to hear shes doing well. Half and Half was 1 of my favorite tv shows and I really liked her acting style.
Thank you for this! I've always had the biggest crush on Rachel True! Such a beautiful woman, & apparently, very much like the characters that she plays, which makes her all the more appealing to me!! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰. I'm still mad about Half & Half's cancellation!
I Fell N Love With Her & Her Work As She Played Mona On " Half & Half"...Eas"T"exas Respect 2 A Beautiful Talented Underated Actress... Blessings & Continued Success Mrs True .
First film I ever saw her in was CB4. Very beautiful woman.
❤️I loved half & half she was living and funny way before her time
Shes my fav❤ loved her in csndyman, craft, half&half, half bsked, etc
She ain't play in Candyman lol. I think you might be mixing her up with the actress who played in Silence of The Lambs 😁
I've always loved her. I follow her on twitter and when she post she's shares from her soul and experience.
Symphony talking regular now but comedy hype news she be yelling. Still love you.
Damn, they're all getting up there. 💯 time passes so fast! 💯
I just met her at BlerdCon in DC, she was so sweet and took time to talk to all of her fans.
Love Rachel True, she is my favorite on Half and Half!
Love her in Craft My Favorite💯
I had the biggest crush on Rachel True as a kid!
Wow we are a day apart in
age.God knows she'll prevail
and I thank her for her works. ❤️
Wow As I'm older I'm just now realizing all the black shows being on at the same time now that she mentioned it. UPN9 on Monday nights was my go to, I was just happy to see all my shows coming on on the same day. I didn't pay attention to the division that was happening
Thank you for this. I often wondered about her back story.
I always my crush from the Craft and Half&Half she still look good ❤😊
Mona thangs was always thangin😍😍my childhood crush
Tbh I like this background music
Seeing a black woman on The Craft was the first time a lot of black girls was introduced to the fact that the practice of MAGICK that always belonged to them first.
Yes!!!! I loved that movie growing up and her character.
BS practicing magic black people have always done that way before White's what are you talkin about do some research don't even know about your own history wow
Um nooooo. Let's not promote witchcraft. Jesus and THE I AM has commaded us to not practice those things. And Christ was not European if you think that matters.
That’s crazy how her costars of the craft continued to not stick up for her. I never watched the movie, but that just seams so wrong.
It all boils down to antiblackness.
Rico’s t white girls, no surprise
I used to look forward to the Monday night shows and was very upset when they were suddenly canceled. I recently started watching them again on Roku apps. I can hardly believe how much time has gone by.
I’ve been watching Half & Half all week
I love Rachel..She is very talented.I’ve had the pleasure of having a little interaction with her on social media and she is very kind..Also her book True heart is fantastic❤️
I’ve always LOVED Rachel!..she seems like a beautiful woman in and out…it’s just so disappointing that she’s not getting much of the recognition she still truly deserves in both White and Black Hollywood…but now I’m happy that the world has finally come to know Rachel because she’s so TRUE to her CRAFT. ❤️💜❤️
My girl!❤️ and respect very beautiful, underrated, I watched every episode,
I wish all people could act like they have some damn sense. Acting should be the one field with no bounds. All you need is a great story line and an actress/actor that can pull it off in a way that draws the audience into the story. So sad she had to go through this.
I just met her at the midsummer scream convention we worked at a few weeks ago, we were both packing up and I got to chat with her for a little bit. Just that short meeting I felt inspired by her, she's such a muse and a bright light despite all the things she's had to put up with ❤ I wish I had watched this first so I could've praised her contributions properly
I've always liked her acting. Love half and half.
Sorry but she is most known for the Craft and it's a shame you didn't say otherwise 😢
Thanks for recognizing her though
Lol stop it 😂
My boo still around ❤
The Craft is the Movie 🔥
She's my favorite person on the Kraft, she gave the movie its vibe. That's crazy!
when i first saw her in Half baked as Mary Jane i fell in love with her i luv her beautiful skin and curly hair 😍 and i would have though she was like 40 wow
She's Always Beautiful Dear 💕♾️😻😍🤩🥰💋😊🙂
She's a good actress, like to see her in some more pictures and movies.
I always viewed her as a beautiful. I miss shows like half and half. Salute to Rachel True
Thelma Hopkins would be a good video to explore.
@8:52 She may not have been the most famous but she sure was the finest of them all and I bet she aged better as well. Kanye wasn't lying when it came to the entertainment industry.
Monica Calhoun next please 🙏🏾
Love Love Love Love Rachel True ❤❤❤
I'm in love with Mary Jane!
She was a beautiful little girl ❤
Shes such a pretty girl with gorgeous brown skin. 😊
.
I love when they play that song in the background. Does anyone know the name of it ?
She didn’t look like she was too old
I love 🎉 Rachel True ! I could tell you were special back in the day, 1 of 1 , on another level, a beautiful spirit ! ,😘 You made my day!
Beautiful in and out!
I like her as an actress, I did not know she was a real witch!!
She needs, to try out for one of Tyler Perry series. Mr. Perry, has many opportunities for Rachel True❤
I loved Half and Half
I loved her in The Craft!
I met her at a film convention in Tampa. She was so nice and cool too!
Rachel True is so beautiful as well as a gifted actress.
She's Mona in Half & Half.
I actually follow her on IG she is still beautiful
She started acting before I was born, so growing up I only knew her from Half and Half. Had no idea about all of these other roles, but loved her in Half and Half.
