We have this small hopper in our shop. The whole hopper vibrating badly is a big downside for me. It pretty obvious that you noticed that yourself and put yout hand on it to stop vobrations. Can't beleive Mahlkönig let something like go into production and makes even an EK43 feel cheap. Quite dissapointed in with this and hope thar others consider this problem before buying. It would have been nice if you talked about this downside in the video aswell. Also, we've had two hopper and both had fitment issues with the lid.
I agree with your assessment, I wish I had read the comment before buying the mini hopper, the lid vibrates badly and he put his hand on it to stop the vibration, that is not cool.
@@greysuit17Have YOU used one? They are well built, smooth and quiet (running but not grinding) grinders. It's a fairly high quality item and feels it. It's just a slight build quality issue with this new hopper. Turning your grinder on and have the lid vibrate off onto the table does not "come with the territory". I've since bought and sold a couple mini hopper and some have not rattled.
UPDATE: omfg, I hope my counters can take this thing! ...weighs a TON! I like it though. It'll be the world's most under-utilized EK43S, since it only has to grind 2-3 20g doses / day. heh. Thanks for the ultra-fast delivery!
Testing UPDATE: Dang, the EK43's retention is far lower than I expected! After a week's testing, I'm getting between 0 and 4 tenths of a gram per 20g dose--shocking! Static is a bit of an issue around the spout, but I can probably mitigate that with RDT, or just continue using the small pastry brush I keep next to the grinder. I waited until the single-dosing trap door hopper arrived to actually start grinding, so I don't know how the taller, stock hopper works for single-dosing, but I'm extremely happy with the combination reviewed here. The build quality is unbelievably high and the particle consistency is excellent. Thanks!
This one exactly reminded me of how Mahlkonig products are always overpriced. No products are ever perfect but there are just too many design and production flaws with their products for the price.

Tried this small hopper this morning. It does vibrate badly
Yeah the mini hopper does look cheap, and the price is higher than a secondhand Mazzer SJ
You do realize how powerful the grinder is right? The whole thing vibrates and is loud….kind of comes with the territory of owning one.
