Great video. But True has a critical flaw. They have rivet issues. I had them for a few seasons and was always needing to replace the rivets. I went to Bauer and have had zero rivet issues. From my understanding, its not the brand of rivets True uses, its the sole that doesn't allow the rivet itself to securely bite into.
If you look in the footbed, a lot of the rivets arent flush, they are mushrooming out which is not good, something with the factory, that’s why you never see NHL players with true holders
@@jeremystrauss3440pretty sure Marner is using the 9x4 with a powerfly holder. I wanna do the same but I doubt I’ll be able to get a pair manufactured with that holder and I don’t wanna go drilling and removing and making new holes in my 1000 dollar skates just to mount a new holder (which may not even be mounted correctly alignment wise)
Great video! Very thorough comparison. Would you recommend the Tacks XF90 (two steps down from pro level) over the Tacks AS-V (one step down from the pro level)? Both are essentially the same price, so I was curious what you thought.
How do the 9x4 compare to the SVH I really want a custom skate but the design (stitching eta) and looks are better on the 9x4 for sure and if it’s pretty much the same thing I’d get the 9x4 but if customs are really that much better then I’d get those
A nice feature of the CCM toung is there is grooves in the plastic protecting which helps hold the upper laces in place. I never lace my top eyelets so I might notice it more than others.
Where the xf pro vs asv pro video at? Ima jetspeed/vapor guy by the way. Love the design of the asv series. So much so ima bout to try out an asv90. See how it feels. I still know that im not a tacks/supreme guy.
Tried on all of these. But our feet are like footprints. So everyone is different lot of variations. And definitely player type aggressive skaters with crazy stop and go footwork. Smooth skaters shifty skaters. All how you use for feet where is the pressure there's alot of anatomy more than just looks. Agree or disagree. Love the Chanel got my 1 year old skating on his own great stuff
As someone who has skated on all three of these skates (the previous generation for each), this advice is all very accurate. The biggest accuracy IMO is the boot height situation. I’ve been playing hockey my whole life at a decently high level. The Mach’s simply have a boot height so low it feels like you *don’t* have control. Crossovers and long sweeping fast turns feel weird or are not performed as well/easily. I honestly think some people have lower ankles and can justify the Shadow/Mach, but certainly not me.
A friend who works in a hockey shop has tried Sumpremes and Vapors, and felt a difference in the stiffness at the top of the ankle and lower down, that might explain it. However, I don’t have Bauer shaped feet and could not skate in Bauer custom supremes. Foot shape is key IMO.
@@StillAliveAndKicking_ definitely a stiffness difference. I went through the fit lab and got a fit 2 skate and got a orthotic to match. As far as the boot heights, he’s really splitting hairs
I had vapor 3x and went to the Machs when they went on sale. The skate height is certainly something I have noticed, but it hasn’t been an issue for me. I do have issues with keeping the top of the skate tight because hey are so stiff they loosen the laces even with waxed laces. Otherwise they have been nice. Only issue I had was out the outside of my feet being squeezed a bit. I wound up cutting the outer edge of the footbeds and that solved the problem. I have a very wide foot (8.5, fit 3), but didn’t have the issue in the same size vapors.
I took a puck off them the other day, my first time wearing them, and it was fine. I don’t notice a significant difference one way or the other from my last skates APX2, 2SPro, AS3 Pro, and now XF Pro.
The CCMs are £895 in the UK for retail. I would buy from hockey station or Willies if you live in the UK (online with stores up north). You can get skates baked at any local skate shop.
I use a bauer vapor x 4 senior stick you cant go wrong with a 200 dollor stick the vapor line is my favorite Stick you dont need a hyperlite 2 at a 400.00 price range to pay rec or pick up or shinny i really recommend the bauer vapor x 4 easy on the wallet
My 9x4’s as a Referee who averages 5-10 games a week are amazing. Did 6 games in a row without a single ounce of pain or fatigue.
Superfeet comfort?

Are you guys going to do a review on custom bauer hyperlite 2 / shadow skates?
Love the automotive analogy of the skates. Great job of explaining the experience of playing in the different skates.
Thank you very much

You should do a on ice review with Hyperlite2 , Ft6 Pro and XF Pro! Why? Those are the most common in NHL.
Can you do XF vs 7x4?
Liked the car analogies.
Loved it too.
Thanks guys!
Great review. and IMO 100% accurate. As much I didn't agree with you previously now I totally agree on this one.
Is the true 9x4 the top of the true line or is that the bottom of the true line

Are the sizes comparable, is it pretty similar in length and width across the brands?
How do i puchase a custom jersey? The website for your shop doesnt show it, and im in the UK
Opinion on the xf pro toe cap? Felt really soft and squishy in hands, not so sure about the protection tbh

Where's best place to buy CCMs?
If the USA purchase only what's the extra costs to buy them from the UK?
Thanks guys

I have a very flat instep, low volume, but wide foot. Do you think the Shadow in a Fit 3 would be the best option?
I have similar fit as you. From my experience Mach fit 2 was too small. Fit 3 was too big. Hyperlite 2 fit 3 fit like a glove

But are the CCMs an M5 tho!?!?! 🤔
What does Chris mean when he keeps saying “if we VS them ….?”
Versus ie compare
I went from ccm asv to Baur shadow I always felt in my ccms that I was on my outside edge Baurs fixed that
I just want skates that don't break in 2mo
Same ccms I had were ridiculously durable only lasted me like four months
Ccms are just to clunky. They are literally ski boots. You look down at your feet and just say eww brother no
I think that way about my Ribcor 76k, A fat boot but man that power transfer out of them is outstanding.
So based on what I see:
CCM: A reliable Honda
True: A road-legal Sportscar
Bauer: A Formula 1 car
Looks like the Bauer has fewer eyelets.
You’re definitely correct.
durability is always suspect on true
The new 9x4’s are hugely improved for durability.
They've been improving tbh.
I'm a Bauer guy, but I think the True slander RE:Durability is getting old.
Massive improvements regarding general durability. Issues with holder separation also corrected. 9X4 are a huge all round improvement
@@Pokemonmaster150b lol "slander" first hand accounts from multiple friends co workers kids etc I hope they have improved tbh
@@irishmanwrx7715 They seem to have improved. See more people with Trues on, and they don't complain about durability.

Skates that have more lace bite than others are often a symptom of some manufacturers trying to save weight by cutting material out of the quarters.
I have brutal lacebit with my old 6k reebok. Can u elaborate on this?
