Somehow missed this one but recently considering this camera and glad you did this review!!! Seems perfect for documenting my boxes of vintage RC cars before I find a way to sell or donate them somehow.
Those teeny little AIO camera units are super!!! A complete package, camera, lens cover, transmitter and antenna a d a 3.7v 350 mAh lipo weigh 4.3 grams. You can solder in a micro switch and still be under 5 gms. I love em. For $18 you can make anything FPV. You can get a 40 ch receiver/monitor that works with the AIO cameras for about $30 or so. A really good one like a Little Pilot for a bit more. Add a set of matches Pagoda antennas for another $12 and that's a complete FPV system; camera, TX/RX, paired antennas, batteries and a 4.3" or 5" color LCD monitor for less than $50 if you do some research. Some of the monitors require 12 volts, but if you look around some only need 4 "AA" batteries.
Being able to use the box as a remote control for the camera is actually the main thing I miss with the first version, so that's a very big improvement! However, the price of this new version is also a lot higher, so that you suddenly end up with a GOPRO or OSMO ACTION, which also offer a lot of functions that this camera clearly does not offer.
Just the best and most appropriately detailed review of all the ones ive seen today. An amazing amount of effort has clearly been put into this. Thanks.
Great video! The little blue information box was a new idea? Anyway I really like the added information. This video was really well done and makes me want to purchase the camera. You did not talk about the water proof or I missed it, I assume you meant for rain and not underwater. Your editing was great and I liked the information on each setting in the video very helpful! Waterproof is in the title of the video and in the description. It is Winter here... no water but plenty of snow, which you saw it used in. You need a waterproof camera to film in falling snow.
Hi ya. I've been using the tiny, little 40 ch, 200mW AIO FPV el cheapo AKK or Wolfwhoop brand units. The camera, transmitter, antenna and a 3.7v lipo weigh less than 5 grams. They are 40 channels,20 to 200 mW power output and work great. They have 2 different types of antennas. A brass omni-directional or dipole type. The whole unit is about a half inch by half inch and cost $17 to $25 for a good one. If ya don't know anything about these Google them. A lot of people have never heard of em. They even have little 3D printed mounts for like a dollar.
@@FlyturboKwad easy solution: don't crash 😛 But really, if the magnet is strong enough it shouldn't pop off. Maybe a 3d printed mount with embedded magnets of opposite polarity could really secure it... If I had a 360Go I'd throw something together, but I'm able to pick up used GoPro 6's and 7's for around $150-200 so I won't be grabbing one anytime soon.

Go 2 is really nice, but $300 makes it a really hard sell for me. I feel this form factor has an inflated value because there's no competition at this scale right now. At $200 I would have picked this up.

I REALLY LIKE this camera. Was tempted to purchase today, but the color held me back. I wish this thing came in dark grey or black. Wait a minute - back with an edit. I went to the site and saw a black skin. Darn it, I'm jonesing again.
Looks great and I love the case design, but man that price is steep! Definitely a good buy if you fly small stuff but for 5" and up I think you're better off with a new GoPro.

Yes, it did show up in mine. However mine was a advanced production unit and the new firmware came out on the day of my video so I'm not sure if there are new options.

I know it’s still pretty cold out there, but does the camera get hot like the first one does when recording for 5 minutes or more? Does it record every time you press record? The first one would bug out a bit and not record all the time mainly because it would get too hot, overheat and shut off.
With the remote it works everytime. If you don't have the remote with you, then you set up how you want it to record by how you press the button and the number of times. It does not seem to get as warm as the first model.
Awesome little camera. I wonder it be so lite and small. Can i attach it to the side of my Evo1. Getting 2 perspectives at the same time would be so cool in posting.
Ordered it this morning. Didnt realize gained 7gramz.. almost as much as my smo 4k.. but way more durable and has horizon level. Hoping quality better than go 1.. resolution isn't everything. But the longer batter and record time is such a pro over go 1..
FPV mode was not available in the firmware of the camera when I received it. All FPV Mode does is permits you to flip and have the image flip with you with no horizon stabilization.
Has anybody done testing on the blue-tooth/wifi range for live-feed on this? I know B-T is usually ~10m/30 feet, but we all know that's far from always being accurate, and WiFi is much more a function of system power. Wondering if it would work for monitoring the rear of a 40=50' trailer for backing up or putting at the top of a tower for scenic shots

There is no alternative in the CAMERA DRONE hobby. You really drop in quality when you don't select DJI for a CAMERA DRONE. There is the BUGS 7 as an example.
Great review. A few questions. 1. Looks like you can only stop start recording using the remote. No button in back of the device. Correct? 2. Can you see the state of the batteries or the memory used? 3. Does it get hot and shut off like the GO 1?

Would not work for still shots as you are out of range. You’d have to do a Timelapse and then pull the individual photos and hope to hell one of them was framed correctly. Much easier to just pull a photo from the video.

Yes, it is 1440p at 30 or 50fps (24-25 in the future) and can be in Pro Video mode (full sensor and horizon lock) or Video Mode

Since the back is magnetic, why not make a mount for your drone that's just an angled metal plate?

They sell alot of skins for the camera!
Dark grey or black would be hard to see if it flies off your quad.

I think it all depends on your phone's reception and surrounding interference.

Assuming you now have horizontal mounts, has it fixed the jello issue? I've seen quite a few videos complaining of jello problems with this camera.
Yes and no. It depends on the quad... if the quad vibrates with prop wash, you will get jello.

The Insta360 GO2 does not take micro SD cards.
