    I liked Phyllis Diller when I was a child, she was on TV alot during the late 1960s, and early 1970s. I remember this game, I was 13 during 1974. I mainly watched it during summers because I was in school when it was on.

      Ward was not Fang. Phyllis Diller wrote about that fact in her autobiography. She did say that her first husband Sherwood thought that he was Fang but she said that Fang was made up...

    My late mother loved "Tattletales".
    It was her guilty pleasure.
    One reason the original "Tattletales " was a big hit was the show's timeslot: Weekdays at 4 P.M. (3 in the Central and Mountain time zones).
    Not only did high school students get to watch it after school, but it was broadcast immediately after "Match Game", which by 1974 had become the most popular program on daytime television.

      Actually, Fang was a fictitious character according to Phyllis Diller's autobiography. Her in-laws did sue her because they claimed that she used them in her act. Years after the fact, Phyllis found out that her first husband did have a checking account under the name Fang Diller.

    It always cracks me up about the show that they make it sound like it's so much money but when you count everybody in the section it turns out to be about a hundred people so they usually get anywhere between maybe 5 and $15 each which is hilarious!

    • @Drchainsaw77
      @Drchainsaw77 5 лет назад +4

      Nobody makes it sound like "so much money." You can see how big the audience is, and Bert repeatedly says that the money is divided amongst them. They printed checks as they filed out of the studio. And none of them had to answer questions, jump through hoops, guess prices, or spin wheels to win anything.

    • @SaucyWench7
      @SaucyWench7 5 лет назад

    • @jethro1963

      In those days 10 bucks was a lot of money. MacDonald's used to have an ad campaign of feed a family of four for under $5. As a kid growing up in the early 70's, I dealt in nickles and dimes, a quarter was a rare windfall. A bag of chips was 5/10 cents, a can of pop was 10./15 cents etc.
