    Re: the painting
    When I was young, my family had a broken down dishwasher that my parents never bothered to get rid of. My parents were also under the impression that I liked Troll dolls. Sooo that's what I got. Birthdays, Christmas, just because. Troll dolls 24/7/365.
    One day about nine months after the dishwasher broke down, my mother opened it up and looked inside for some reason. I don't know what she was looking for, but what she found was all my Troll dolls, lined up neatly on the racks behind the locked dishwasher door. She called me in and asked me why I put all the dolls in there.
    And I just looked at her with all my 8 year old gravity and said "They're in jail. They were bad so they're in jail now."
    Months before, I'd had a horrible nightmare about the little bastards coming to life. It was bad enough that I locked them up in the most secure place I could think of, just in case.
    So I get it. Sometimes you just have to put the painting in the attic and the trolls in the dishwasher.

    The scariest moment for me will always be when Pennywise came out of the refrigerator to terrorize Eddie and you just know deep down that it is really Bill Skarskard performing that scene. To me that is utterly terrifying to know that an actor actually did that and generated that type of response.

    • @darcym9638
      @darcym9638 3 года назад +4

      Funny story about that. IIRC this was the first scene that Skarsgard and Jack Dylan Grazer shared. After the first take, Skarsgard was worried that he'd crossed a line with the kid and asked if he was okay. Grazer's response was (paraphrased) "Oh yeah, I love what you're doing with the character!"
      Again IIRC, Skarsgard has said this was the moment when he realized he was working with some tiny professionals.

    I own both versions and I gotta say that the original 1990 version has a lot more replay value than the recent 2-parter Hollywood release. There’s a lot more charm in the first TV-movie version. Anyway, there’s so many decent scares, it’s hard to pick a favourite; probably Beverly visiting her old family home.

  • @failedcomedian6394
    @failedcomedian6394 3 года назад +8

    As much as I enjoyed chapter 2, I felt it was severely bogged down by mediocre cgi. The Mrs Hersh scene had a good buildup, but when she ran out of the shadows I found it more funny than scary. Same with the leper, Paul bunyon statue and the Chinese restaurant scene (probably my favourite scene in the movie up until the crap cgi fortune cookies). The scariest scenes were the ones with just pennywise, like the bleachers or the funhouse. Yeah they both had a little bit of cgi but it was minimal and it still allowed Bill Skaarsgard to just do pennywise. I know in the books pennywise takes many forms, but the shoddy cgi really ruined a lot of the scares in chapter 2. It’s still a good film, I love the cast, but definitely not as scary as it could have been.

    I recently finished reading the novel for the first time and so much of the story is skin-crawling and eerie good. Love what the Chapter 1 & 2 movies did represent as true to the book as possible and there are a lot of unsettling scenes, almost hard to decide which is the scariest. Albeit I do love the 90s miniseries and it slightly creeped me out more even now just for the realism of it, yet the films still exuded the same atmosphere from the book in notable parts though. The CGI in Chapter 2 (which should have had better screenwriting) could have been better in some scenes too. For me, Georgie's death creeped me out the most just for the chilling and predatory undertones it gives off, both in the text and on screen.

    Scariest part of It2, was the opening kill.
    Mrs Kirch scene was very creepy, but evaporated into comedy with the witch.
    Most of It1's scenes trumps 2's scenes by a mile.

    #15. I've had one, but it wasn't a painting. It was several doll sized figurines. I think they were part of a collectors set. They belonged to someone my mama knew. She displayed them in a room near the front door that connected to other rooms & they terrified me. I hated walking past them. I hated being near them. I hated looking at them. Thankfully, the room in question wasn't the only way to get from one part of the house to the other. The kicker is.... ALL of the figurines in question were CLOWNS!!!!!!! I kid y'all not. 😅😂

    I actually think that pennywise was partially responsible for Eddie growing up with a bad mom by attacking her when she was a kid and making her attempt to process the deadlights which caused her to begin going mad, which only got worse when she grew up, got married and had a kid, and Pennywise decided to mess with her even more, by causing a car crash and killing her husband, which drove her even madder
