A legendary song from 1985. We Are The World was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones and sold more than 20 million copies making it the 8th best-selling single of all time. The video to this song is iconic as all of the recording artists stepped up to the microphone and did their bit and if you haven’t yet seen the Netflix docomentary, ‘The Greatest Night in Pop’ it’s a must watch!
I hope you like the intro - I had to work it out - and I think it sounds right. As with most of my arrangements, I start out softly and as the song progresses, I build the emotion and action on the piano. The song is played in the written key of E Major and I particularly like the bridge in C. My arrangement takes it up to F Major for the ending. To be uploading this song in 2022 with all that's going on in the world, I think it's rather poignant 37 years later. I hope you like it.
