The creator I believe wanted a more snake like resemblance due to the Aztec resemblance or something to that effect. The person who wrote the show in referring too. And they wanted them more serpent like instead of bat like to fit with the lore and stuff. Lores very interesting especially in the snow.
Yeah the vampires in the movie are just mindless monsters for the most part they seemed to act human to perform for the patrons before feeding but the vampires in the show you are still pretty much yourself except when you get hungry or you get angry then your vampire (culebra) side comes out
Cogan my boy. Can you please make some more videos covering the world of darkness or vampire the masquerade universe? They just released information about bloodlines two and making videos up to its release in fall of 2024 might not be a bad idea.
Man I wished this show had got a fourth season I was all into this show and I was bummed when this show didn't get a fourth season also this show was how I was introduced to Eiza Gonzalez before she started being in a whole bunch of movies
Thank you Cogan for your explaination of From Dusk Til Dawn the series. This is my favorite tV series. I love take the time to explain each detail in every video you cover. Your explaination of the show now makes a lot of sense. I like how you fill in the gaps that alot of us miss when watching. By far your best explaination covered series
I was real young when I watched the first movie, Man guitar still got me fucked up. But these are some really interesting vampires I love the unique lore.
So I think my take on the snake venom affecting vamps in this show is that; since most snake venoms attack red blood cells and clotting, if that gets into the stomach of a vampire, it's not going to go well. Their digestive systems are probably changed up somewhat, so the venom disturbs THAT process somehow, not their own bloodstream. ... I spend too much time thinking about this stuff
To tell you the truth I'm not a big vampire movie watcher, especially these kind, because they scare me, but I think it is better as our duty as fans that we do not neglect that despite youtube existing, these guys rely a lot on customers to make money, maybe there's a better way of sharing content like this on the web.
maybe Malvado was the snake that went into her mouth, as weird as that sounds. and before anyone says it's the same snake in the vase they find, no the 2 snakes are completely different looking. and given the lords have a special snake inside them, maybe he shed his human form in order to transform her. plus when we see her coming back to the temple, she almost looks possessed, like someone else was in the driver seat at the moment
This is great I love this. Definitely makes me want to watch it again. A few problems: 1. Xibalba is the Mayan underworld. Supernatural places like that tend to have rulers and tend to be their own entity in of themselves. Hades is a good example. Also, remember in a lot of federal court cases it's [X person] vs The United States. A place can be sued as well as make decision's too. 2. The whole point of the poisoning was that they aren't human still. So they can be affected by things that humans are not affected by. Aka snake venom being ingested as opposed to injected into the blood stream. Also it just paralyzed them so that they could be killed if I remember right. 3. I could've sworn there was a whole half an episode where they explain Malvado's role in the ritual. I think it was with the replacement that he tried to make of Santanico. Could be wrong, hence why I'm watching it again. 4. Carlos got the ability to never die by drinking the ancient blood at the end of season 2. 5. Opinion here - good the professor is in Xibalba, he's both always wanted to go and deserves to be there. Incase you missed all the messed up stuff he did in season 2.
Interesting is that this series is strongly inspired by Mayan and Aztec myths, where is one of few true vampire bats in mythology! And of course this vampires aren't bats XD
I like the serpent approach to the vampires since the Mayan and Aztec gods and goddess are mostly snakes or some type of reptile I know there's a few feline gods and goddess as well which still fits
@@CharlesH-t9r I don't think there's all that many deities that are linked to snakes in Aztec or Mayan myths. Do people associate the Aztecs or Mayans quite strongly with serpent iconography? Yes, because it's a strong motif in some of the major temples, but I don't think they're any more noteworthy to their myths than they are in others. There's plenty of serpents (and serpent-like dragons) in Greek myth, the Yamata no Orochi of Japanese myth, etc. Like, there's Quetzalcoatl (the quetzal-feathered serpent) and his Mayan counterpart Kukulkan, who actually take the form of snakes instead of a human form, and there's Coatlicue ("she who wears a skirt of snakes"), who was the mother of the sun god Huitzilopochtli, but there's not a particularly noteworthy amount of deities who have a snake iconography or are strongly associated with snakes, even if they have the root word "coatl" (serpent) in their names. There's an iconography of jaguars, birds, and skeletons (or other representations of the dead, since the agricultural god Xipe Totec is often shown as a skinned man wearing another's flayed skin) that's as strong or stronger than the link to snakes among the Aztecs, and the Mayans have a literal god of bats in Camazotz.
I was wondering when you'd start looking into the From Dusk Till Dawn Vampires, it's interesting looking at the Aztec Vampires cause we all know about the European versions of Vampires, Also Can you look into the Lore of The Interview with a Vampire versions next that'd be awesome 👌

@@BlackEnchantress Mythologists have pointed to the myth of Sekhmet being a possible starting place for some aspects of the vampire myth, as she was sent down to destroy humanity for betraying the gods, and took such pleasure in drinking their blood that she didn't stop until the gods flooded the Nile with liquor dyed red to look like more blood. That unquenchable blood-thirst certainly gives her a place in some of the formative steps toward vampires, even if she herself is not one. Also, nobody was linking her to the Culebra vampires of the From Dusk 'Til Dawn TV series, so what made you jump to the comment about cats and serpents? There's literally no links to the two in this conversation.
It is worth noting that the idea of vampires as snakes appeared in The Lair of the White Worm a 1988 supernatural horror comedy loosely based on the 1911 Bram Stoker novel of the same name, it follows the residents in and around a rural English manor that are tormented by an ancient priestess after the skull of a serpent that she worships is unearthed by an archaeologist. This was probably the only series keeping El Ray channel going. It be interesting if Rodriguez and Tarantino could show their films on it on loop. I found the lore changes pretty interesting, but it seemed to get bogged in lore rather than telling an interesting plot.
Presuming that they don't drink blood via their fangs, which would be implied by them drinking it from goblets, then their being able to be killed by drinking snake poison does make sense given the direct connection between their stomachs and their own blood [if the purpose of drinking blood is to replace their own, at least.]
What I believe is that mavado snake was the one that went into santanico. Since he was an elder. He could survive without his snake for sometime. Then they removed it and put it back in him.
I remember at the end of season 3, the ending focused on Amaru's necklace which was picked up by someone. I think it has special ability to do something. Maybe open a portal to another realm.
