I think about a year or one and a half years after The Channel started, Simon renamed it into "BrainBlaze". So, "BrainBlaze" is actually the new name. And let me tell you, none of the actual OGBBs wanted that change. We (almost) all hated the renaming. Because "BusinessBlaze" was a giant and iconic meme on this channel, and he renamed it to try and cater to a wider and newer audience.

It wasn't long before we learned that there's no such thing as "equals" in such situations and things got very sour. As time went on and they bought other companies, they learned the lesson and didn't even bother trying to make the employees at the other company feel good about it. Simon's description of the AOL/Time Warner merger gave me bad flashbacks.

Up until about 5 years ago, my step-dad still had dial-up because they're on a fixed income and satellite cost too much, and cable provider broadband is STILL unavailable in their area. The connection was so slow sometimes the computer would often just give up trying to connect. 😂😂 It's so bad that someone local ended up starting their own internet company because they too were tired of lack of access options.

It's funny that Kevin made a big deal about how it was a waste of time for the AOL and Time Warner CEOs talking to eachother for afew hours to get an idea what eachother was like but then later talks about how one of the downfalls for the Skype and EBAY deal was that neither had any idea what the other's personalities were like.
I love it, in these videos, when Simon just randomly bursts into moments of pure aggression and starts shouting at the camera and sometimes grabs a huge knife, stabbing the desk with it.
I always wonder when I watch Brain Blaze: is this the drunken version of Simon or the sober Simon in other channels is just his acting 🤔

Up until about 5 years ago, my step-dad still had dial-up because they're on a fixed income and satellite cost too much, and cable provider broadband is STILL unavailable in their area.
The connection was so slow sometimes the computer would often just give up trying to connect. 😂😂
It's so bad that someone local ended up starting their own internet company because they too were tired of lack of access options.
The truth was that AOL had to murder robots to power their internet, and the secret time portal they harvested them from was destroyed. They used the merger as a distraction. 😂

We used to have a little cardboard display unit for AOL CDs at the Blockbuster I worked at. Years later when we were clearing the shop out for the closure, there was a handful of them found under some of the shelving units 😂

I worked at AOL at the time (from like 02-06), and the reason they has so few employees was bc they used outsourcing & contractors, not employees.
