- RUclips, meet Olive, but she totes said you can call her Ollie. She was super nervous appearing in her first RUclips video but I think she did great. Olive was born December 7th, 2014 and weighed roughly a dozen olives worth (maybe more, who’s to say). Now I need to find another idea for Valentines Day.. which is what the comment section is for (jk(kinda not though (seriously help))).

Anyways, since I randomly found you on RUclips, you guys have literally been my favorite RUclipsrs and the cutest couple. Just finished all of your videos( of course Ethan's) which everyone is genuine and inspirational. So sincere that they wipe out all the frustration and sadness. Now every Tuesday and Saturday( due to jet lag), there is something that I can look forward to. " Everyday is a great day " is indeed a simple but life-pursuing phrase. When I wake up I'm just have a smile on my face, going to check my Snapchat. Now I'm become more confident instead of dwelling on those negative stuffs. Thanks to you guys, I'm start being who I am. Puppies, just like human babies, need a lot of sleep. I would definitely set her up with a crate for when you go out, so she learns to not go in the house. Dogs won't mess their "den," so if you make her crate a positive place she'll behave when she's alone. Also...doesn't your roommate have a dog? Have they been introduced?
Absolutely HATE crates, It is cruel for the dog. And before people say the dogs love it, I suggest LOCKING you in a crate all day and saying HOLD IT while the rest of the world goes by. Crates are also dangerous. The dog has no way to defend themselves in a fire or flooding situation. Dogs also have been trapped in a crate that is too hot or too cold when power or other issues arise. Animals deserve the right to try to protect themselves without being trapped in a crare. Crates are for annimal owners only
Seriously? Have you ever had a dog? A crate, when used properly and not as a punishment place, are ideal for potty training. Once your dog is continent enough to hold it until you return home, then you can allow them free reign. Crates also keep puppies from getting into things like food, wires, chemicals, etc. when you aren't there to supervise them. Having a puppy is like having a baby. The crate is like a crib; where they can safely sleep and play when unsupervised. There is no need to keep a dog in a crate 24/7, but to ensure you don't come home to a pee in every room or a dog who's eaten something hazardous, they are wonderful. I've had six dogs in my life so far, and ALL of them have been crate trained until they are safe to be left alone. Both of my 80+ pound Goldens are healthy and happy, and they can comfortably laze around the house for hours without having accidents.
I still don't get why you need a crate. We had a dog who never had a crate and he turned out fine. Btw I'm in no way trying to be rude but what exactly is the reason people use them? I've never really understood them because not a single person that I know has used one or never really even felt the need to have one. I know it's often a safe place for the dog but still, I can't even think about putting my own dog in one for the time that he is left alone. We always just let him walk around the house even when he was alone. I've never just understood why do you need to use a crate. But idk haha
Razzlewolfflight We have never had a crate for our dog. A puppy should NEVER be left alone for the first period of ther life. And once they are big enough to start practesing being alone, they are already big enough to hold it for the short period they are alone.

I am 100% sure if you put your baby in a crate while you left the home for a few hours you would be arrested. If you left your child in their crib all night screaming when they were hungry or needed their diaper changed to try to "potty train" them, you would be a child abuser.
If you do not have the time to properly train a puppy without a crate, you really don't need a dog.
Every point you made is about the PEOPLE, and not once did I hear you say anything about it being best for the ANIMAL.
When I have had dogs they have never been put into a crate as a CONVENIENCE to me. If it is really where the dog wants to be, leave the crate open.

Because any peep that's followed #methan for any length of time already knows they're not the type to just DO something (like THIS, at least) on a fucking whim w/o exploring all avenues and talking about it at length. The concern-wrapped-in-judgment is misplaced, imo. It reminds me of when Mark & Ethan moved in together, and peeps were all 'dating is easy, but living w/ someone can bring about many challenges, praying7y'all!' or some such. X-D Like EVERYONE is suddenly an expert on a thing, and the particulars of a situation are boiled down to a singular point/issue, and all da context of the thing is lost in space... I mean these guys maintained a long-distance relationship with the kind of steadfast determination and conviction you rarely (if ever, lbr) see in peeps - they drove 2+ hours nearly every weekend to see each other. That's not to be looked at as an aside! That's the kind of guys they are. Ollie will be fine, and anyone 'worried' because Mark and Ethan are 'so young' need to get themselves together right quick!

WOW! She is so adorable. Puppies are the best. If I may offer some advice, crate train her. I always hated the idea of doing that, but when I got my last dog, the breeder highly suggested it. It's been the best thing in the world I could have done. Now, all I do is say "time to go" and he runs to his crate. Another piece of advice, stick to one word commands. CIts easier for dogs to pick up single words than it is for phrases. Use "sit", "stay", "down", "come", etc . . .
Also, noticed Ethan's arms are getting bigger. You two are so cute.

Just saw on Mark's instagram that yesterday was Olive's birthday. She's 6 years old now. But Ethan is not allowed to see her anymore since they broke up. Mark took full custody of Olive and sadly Ethan gets no visitation. Pets are like children and they suffer too when their parents divorce. It's heart-breaking seeing this video and remembering how much Ethan loved Olive. I'm sure she misses him too. 😭💔

I’m not going to quit on you guys, get your asses back together. Whenever I see that video now and your latest video..... Isn’t this dog reminds you of happy moments that you spent with him. Don’t be stubborn guys, get back together.
Why should they be together if they're not happy that way? We don't know what their relationship looked like behind closed doors. We only got to see the good parts on RUclips. For all we know, they could've been miserable together 24/7 and just faking it for the camera. Relationships change and people grow apart. It's sad to see but unfortunately, it's the reality of life.

its the warmest day of winter there, he said it in the beginning, and labs have double coats when they reach about a year old, meaning she might be cold now, but the double coat is basically if a human had 3 fluffy jackets on to keep them warm, labs are awesome

I never get tired of watching this video. Ollie is SOOOO cute. I laugh like crazy when she dives into her food dish and her little tail that is always going crazy. She's so sweet.

It might be a coincidence but it seems many gay RUclipsrs follow this formula in evolving content for their videos:
(1) Do "coming out" video(s) on RUclips [I love watching these];
(2) Include friends and/or family in subsequent videos;
(3) Get a boyfriend if you don't already have one, and introduce him via a "Boyfriend Tag" video;
(4) Move in with boyfriend sometime later (so it's easier to do videos together on a regular basis :);
(5) Get a pet, usually a dog and/or cat.
Mark and Ethan Hethcote are now at stage 5. The stage after this is getting married and maybe becoming parents, if and when they choose to do so.
I rarely watch straight RUclipsrs' videos (not as interesting, sorry :), so I don't know if they follow a similar formula.
and after the wedding, do a bit of ''we got married'' videos, then eventually quit youtube like Billy and Pat :(
thats how relationships works, its not a formula for youtube. usually you come out, then you introduce them to your friends and family and then you move in, and maybe get a dog a little later. its how real life works. we're are just lucky enough for so many great youtubers to share their real life
pppmanly That's not so much a 'formula' as much as how life/relationships tend to evolve, tho. I mean you come out to your friends/family (many youtubers consider the yt community as such), introduce friends/family to each other, etc. Introduce the significant other to your circle of friends, etc. And moving in together or getting a pet or whatever just come part and parcel w/ the documenting life stuffs. Mark's said before he has difficulty keeping secrets, and he loves youtube, so he wouldn't be able to do yt if he weren't able to be as open as he is and w/ a guy that allows him to be as open as he is. That's why peeps are drawn to them: what you see is what you get, no bullsh*t. LOL

Please tell me you didn't get her from a breeder. Seeing you getting the puppy in a parking lot, makes me suspicious that this is who you got her from. If you did get this puppy from a breeder, and met that breeder in the parking lot somewhere, chances are very likely that she came from a puppy mill. Puppy mill breeders are very well known for meeting perspective buyers in parking lots or other businesses, and not at their own home/place of business, for obvious reasons. I know this, because it happened to me years ago, before the dirty business of puppy mills were even a topic of discussion. I hope to God I'm wrong, and please forgive me if I am. Ollie is a gorgeous dog, and I have no doubt you guys will take great care of her.

Mark commented to someone else saying that the person they got this dog from was insanely desperate to get rid of them. So this dog would've been put down eventually. Don't judge so quickly if you don't know why they chose to get the dog and from where.
Abominable Love It's willful ignorance to tell somebody how they should be getting their animals. Taking care of another living thing is a full time job that nobody is obligated to do, and all dogs deserve a happy life. It's sad that a lot of them are put down, I can empathize with that. I actually am more predisposed to dogs than humans, and I would happily adopt or rescue a dog if I could at this point in my life. However, it's wrong to judge or berate a person if they choose to get their dog a different way.
Same thing with actual children. There are a lot of children out there who really could use an adoption and have a loving, happy home. However, it's wrong to look down upon a couple for wishing to make their own child versus adopting one. It's a sad and difficult situation, but that's just how the world operated. Sad and difficult. The least we could do is not look down on one another.

Guys, Olive is so precious and cute and it looks like shes a natural in front of the camera as you both are. I was just in Bloomington, IN this weekend visiting my sister who moved up their not long ago. Its a very nice town and I got to visit some of the places you guys have shown in your videos. I went to Uplands of course LOL, went to Darn Good Soup and Feast Bakery as well. It was very cool to visit some of the places you guys frequent. Was hoping to run into you guys maybe next time.

cute dog! I recommend putting a ball in her bowl when feeding her to prevent her from gastric dilation volvulus. its common in bigger breeds. they also make bowls with a protruding ball-like part to slow the dog down from eating too fast and getting gdv. i did it to my pup and it slowed her down. from one pup papa to another. =)

Hard experience learned raising many puppies and kittens: Invest in a wet-proof mattress pad! Puddles [and piles] may be accidents during house training, but bouts of sickness and upchucking will be with pets all of their lives! A behavioral fact is a loved pet will always head to where ever they feel safest and go looking for protection when they feel sick, and the owner(s)' beds normally carry our scents the strongest and without any strangers' odor to confuse them.
It's much easier to launder bedding than it is to clean the mattress [an almost impossible task to do completely!].
Great choice in a Lab - considering what we see of both of you in the videos, I would guess the breed is a great lifestyle and personality match for both of you,
