BOBlibob it's because it isn't protable, meaning they can push the processor without being limited by battery, it also doesn't have a screen to power and also doesn't as many games

BOBlibob It's completely unusable unless you're streaming, which pretty much everything "supports" 4k, not just runs it. It would be completely pointless on a switch since you aren't streaming or anything with it, and obviously it's not powerful enough to drive 4k natively.

That's what got my attention and will be the selling point for me. I can't afford a new gaming rig at the moment and this could be welcome substitute. Granted not all games work but the ones that do are enough for now.
@@mightysaitama5749 you can get amazing exclusives that are only on PC like ARMA (which is so realistic it was used by the millitary,but use a mouse and keyboard cause its awful on a controller) plus games are cheaper than on console,its a great deal if you cant get a PC but want to try it and you keep the games you get on steam if you do get a rig.

A gaming PC on par with a ps4pro is only 500 and a ps4 pro is 400 after only 2 years of paid online its cheaper to have a PC and cause PC doesnt have generations a PC lasts longer.

I don't think a lot of people realize that this isn't marketed as just a gaming console. Sure, you can get a PS4 or Xbone for around the same price, but the shield offers much more functionality having Android TV, 4K HDR, and most importantly in my opinion, Nvidia Gamestream.
I guess I see it as more of a PC player's companion device than an actual console player's main system
True. The xbox one s has 4k, HDR, and windows 10 game streaming to the pc, so it kinda makes a pc a console gamers companion :)

You can connect a mouse and keyboard to the Shield TV and play games that way too, it supports both bluetooth versions and hardwired as you can connect a USB hub.

I use it for GeForce now. I play monster Hunter world, elder scrolls online, black desert online etc all on ultra settings... It is really worth it, you can play any games you own on steam and Uplay and a few other stores. I do not own a gaming PC and honestly you do not need one with this

You can get an Xbox One S with Battlefield 1 bundled in for like $250. Doesn't really seem like this is worth it.
Xbox is not worth buying at all since most of the exclusive games on Xbox can now be played through windows xbox on your PC, i have forza horizon the new one on PC and it works on Xbox if i get an xbox also, but i really see 0 reasons to buy an xbox over a ps4 after they did so you can play xbox games on your PC, really 0 reasons.. ps4 atleast still has its exclusives lol
And im not a fan of either console just pointing that out, for examble i like ps4 for being more powerful but i like xbox for the controllers they make, their so much better than ps4 controllers

In terms of hardware, the Xbox One S is a better value than the PS4 Slim. The Xbox One S has a 4K blu-ray player, HDR support, backwards compatibility, an IR blaster, and an optical port(not a huge deal, but it's a must have if you have an older surround sound system like I do). Really the only thing the PS4 has over the Xbox One S is a handful of exclusives and slightly better performance(which is pretty much negligible at this point). And while it's true that Xbox One doesn't have alot of exclusives since MS released games like Gears and Forza on Windows, those games still can't be played on a PS4, whereas they can be played on an Xbox One. Plus, there's a good amount of last gen games, like Red Dead Redemption, that the PS4 can't play, but the Xbox One can due to it's backwards compatibility.

I paid $500 when it came out. It's the best streamer you can get. Get kodi, retroarch, hyperspin, add a lard capacity external harddrive and you are good to go. Play up to ps3,switch,wii ,mame,and of course the snes,sega gen. It's the Ultimate arcade console media box
A big thing you missed with this, that makes it super useful, is that you can use it as a Plex server.

Those games are being streamed off of a server and aren't running on the actual hardware
It doesn't run those games on its own hardware. It's only streaming them from Nvidia servers. It's nowhere near to Nvidia graphics cards in terms of power, I would say it's closer to integrated Intel graphics
I bought one and loved it I have a PS4 and gaming pc and my Nvidia shield is most used out of all of them. Many emulators and streaming services.

10 years old with a great library of games. I still play the original Xbox, PS2, PSP, I havejust as much fun as I do on any modern piece of hardware. The games still do exactly what they where designed to do, provide entertainment without the need of 8gb updates, installing games to HDD, and all of that shit. I use my PS3 for online and my PC for most of my up to date gaming since paying for online services on consoles is an outright scam.

The original Shield was a handheld with a folding screen and a joystick. Second and third were Shield tablets. I still have both.

its not really a game console only, you can use GeForce Now to play any PC games. You can play any android games, android apps like netflix to stream movies, there are so much this little thing can do. I got one in every room and i just love it the best thing you can buy. There are also a lot of free android apps can be install on this to watch live tv channels free. You can also sync your xbox one controller to this device
Should I buy this or just build a PC for around $300? I live in Canada so the shield is only $40 less
Ian I'm not a PC person so you don't have to take my advice but I would go with a PC because you would probably have a lot more games and power. This is a streaming box not a main console or PC replacement.

Definitely get a pc. This isn’t even a full on console, just a streaming device.
My advice would be to get a Dell Optiex with an i5 in it, then just throw a decent card in it and would cost around $300.
well if ur deciding between a shield or a pc, u wont be able to build a pc worth anything for $300(unless u already have most of the parts). I as well as anyone else would get more use out of a pc than any console whether the console fan girls want to admit it or not. As long as u can get an i5 or higher proc, and a 70 series gpu, ur all good. part of the allure of the shield is how it works in conjunction with a pc tho(it allows u to be able to use both platforms from 1 console). In gamestream mode u can mirror your pc's screen thru the shield which of course allows u to play your pc games and control your pc on whatever tv u hook the shield up to. So at the push of a button u go from the usefulness of the android platform to the power of a desktop pc. good luck

I have the flip version. It flips open. It was made in 2014 and holds up for SO LONG. The only game I play on it is Minecraft Pocket Edition, because it has JOYSTICKS! Also, MicroSD.

In some countries, the difference is nearly 100$ or more. Over here in the UK the XBO and Shield are exactly the same, which is why I personally wouldn't get it. However, in other countries it is way cheaper.

This is the a really good console. The signature things it does is:
1. Run Kodi super buttery smooth
2. If your into Android games , then it runs them at Max graphics and is a smooth experience
3. You can use it as a Chromecast.
4. You can stream games from Nvidia GeForce now it's fun if you want a quick gaming session.
5. They now have metal gear solid 3 snake eater in HD for the shield TV natively
6. You can run emulators for your nostalgic ps1 psp Nintendo Sega games you name it, it runs it all perfectly.
7. Nvidia is working on getting more games to run natively and stream on the device
8. If you have a gaming PC you can stream your games on the shield TV, that's awesome because if your PC is in your room , you can take your games to the living room!
9. I have a Xbox one, but I use my shield tv when I want to play nostalgic games and use Kodi.
10. Do your research on RUclips. These is a great device, but it won't replace your PS4 or Xbox one, its nice to have and fun to use, check on eBay or offer up and you can probably snag one for $100. I got mine for $125 on eBay and love it!

Not sure how much it is in dollars, but I got a brand new Xbox one s for £200 from amazon, I think that’s way better than this nvidia shield thing for a similar price
Spend the extra 50 for a Xbox one or ps4 slim. It does 4k blu rays, actually plays games, and isn't just a streaming device.

But if I can Stream in 4k, why wuold i go buy disc? and If i have a pc why would i need an xbox at all? hmmmmmm. hate to be the one to let ya in on teh secret, but game streaming is the future. alot of games are already available to be streamed online and as more and more people have access to true high speed internet and stronger infrastructures, more and more gaming will be streamed. @@marksapollo the xbox one s does 4k blurays though. Neither of the PlayStations does 4k discs. The PS4 pro does 4k streaming, which the shield can also do.
U can get PS4 slim for better options u just need to add more bucks

Nvidia shield is a common buy for those who use kodi tv or streaming tv. Its speed and loading times are top notch for that. The new Amazon Fire tv in comparison is slow as hell.
