    Buy on Amazon: amzn.to/3A2gIaI
    Purchase on eBay: bit.ly/givi-himalayan-engine-g...
    I originally purchased from emlineamoto.com. Their stock may be out. (Not surprised after this video posted!) I was so impressed with these Himalayan engine guards construction and cost that I knocked out a video ASAP! Take into consideration I haven't done any field testing for a complete review, but I think you'll agree that GIVI's attention to detail and overall direction on engineering is admirable.
    At the time of this video publishing the cost was a mere $108 on emlineamoto.com, and shipping from Italy to Alaska was only $44. They were delivered within a week. Outstanding!
    Jerry cans and mounts are from Rotopax. Had to get the exact size through Amazon. Here's the link, amzn.to/2Yo4l7o.
    And the mount, amzn.to/2ZuFwDh.
    But you still need a bracket bolted onto the bike. I got mine from Enfieldacessories.co.uk.

    Just completed the install on my 2019 REH in an hour. It was ordered from EvoMotion (Italy) on Jan 8, and arrived on Jan 31. The box was beat to hell, and had a small tear opening, but the packaging held up and the product, unscathed. I was impressed w/ how well wrapped everything was inside. It cost me $150.84 shipped to Rhode Island.
    The directions were good, but I deviated from the addition of the 4cm long bracket which would relocated the brake fluid reservoir. I initially tried, but there was insufficient length of rubber tubing which connects the reservoir to the foot brake mechanism so I proceeded w/ the install in he hope the fitment would be fine w/o it (and it was!)
    I was prepared to release the exhaust from the cylinder head to get better access to the lower right side bolt install, but as the nut were being backed out, I noticed the shaft was also turning, so I went the lever on the pipe route (after first loosening the rear attachment of the exhaust.) I was able to gain the necessary few mm to insert the lower front bolt, and I agree that a shorter bolt would make the install a lot easier. I recommend inserting this bolt into the frame to create a channel in the paint before the actual install. This will make the bolt thread in easier when it counts.
    I liked your suggestion to use clear caulk on the thru and thru pipe attachment, but I didn't.
    In my case I was grateful there were no real "gotchas." I think it adds tremendously to the overall look and it may ever serve to make righting the bike after I dump it slightly easier cause it's a sturdy gripping area. I don't know about actual protection to the engine case. In the times I dumped the bike, I believe the rear metal panniers were the saviors. I hope I never have to test the engine case protection these bars are meant to afford.
    Thanks for the vid, I'll watch any vid you produce which goes over basic maintenance like brake fluid, disc pads, flat repair, tire, and oil changes.

    also, about the jerry cans, are they or have you seen water cans in place of for gas? if they are food grade plastic we could mount a spicket on the front or back bottom sides for a quick hand wash or dish wash...I guess even if it's not food grade could still do it, just don't drink it.

    Nice data points! Saves me a lot of research once I finally reach the tipping point :). I have often wondered why people don't paint their gear lighter and lessen the heat budget, another win. How have your tires been holding up, any flats to speak of? Do you know for a fact whether the front wheel has sidewall ridges if a guy wanted to run tubeless? I have heard the rear does, plus guys are putting the rim locks on and they seem to be doing well, thanks again. Should we start geosearching for roads that require your 4.5 gallon tank to be supplemented by two two-gallon containers? Hmmm :)

      @RC-uw9uy 5 лет назад

      @@KARMAkazeMoto Several on ADVRider and other places follow the link attached, the founder of BestRest products has a very solid process of sealing the nipples in the rim then sealing over them with an airtight application of tape and such. Now he recommends just using the same tire I think (need to re-watch) but there are rim locks available that go on the tires to prevent it coming loose in case of flat. If a person had lots of discretionary income maybe the BARTrims. Anyway, interesting concept and I would rather just plug a hole than have to put in a new tube, have done that many years ago and don't want to do it again, lol. There is some protection, yes, due to the fact that the bike tipped on its side is resting on the bars, guard and pegs or rear cargo rack. But if there were a rock right there that sticks up, is surely might catch a pedal. I believe the brake pedal is a bit flexible, if bent it can be pulled back out again without much trouble. Additional fuel tanks are not necessary in most western countries, it is very rare not to find a petrol station within a radius of 400 to 450 km, which is more or less the distance to be done with this motorcycle with a fuel tank. You can carry a small tank of 3 to 5 liters extra to ensure that you arrive. Only in Asia and Africa can you need extra gasoline.

    The guards look great, sturdy and good looking. The jerrycans, OTH, look oversized, so it kind of ruins the look of the bike, IMO. I believe Noraly´s are smaller (1 gallon?) and they look much better.

    • @KARMAkazeMoto
      @KARMAkazeMoto  5 лет назад +1

      I can't disagree with you about the cans. The issue is that where I'm going I'll need the extra fuel. Also, mounted upright allows the extra weight to hang lower and I can barely tell they are there. They do look a bit larger in video than if you step back and see them in person. Like on my recent Instagram pic they don't look so big, and you can tell they are thinner, perhaps better cutting the wind. We'll see how I get along with them and if I need to make a change. And thanks about those guards! Super excited about those. 🙂

      It will most likely protect them, especially on more smooth or only slightly rough terrain. Of course, that can be said of any engine guards.
