Transformers Reactivate was going to be a big triple-AAA experience and unfortunately we were let down by higher up positions. It wasn't the developers fault but the people managing Splash according to many developers. This is just one side of the story and no doubt there will be more as time goes on. Transformers fans could have really, truly had an amazing game on their hands by the developers making the game. Unfortunately the vision was changed so many times and financial issues that Tencent pulled the plug on the game. Not even attempting to bring the assets to a new studio for continued development. Only time will tell how this story will unfold in the coming months. We as Transformers fans can only wait and see what kind of new Transformers game we will receive in the future... #transformersreactivate #playtfr #transformers
Is there a possibility for the game and assets to be handed to another studio. I feel awful for Splash Damage's employees, and I think a new studio who care about Transformers games should be handed the project and finish Splash Damage's work.
Wouldn't that essentially be forcing high moon a studio that only made single player games into a live service mold? Realistically? How well has that turned out so far?
Splash Damage should have went to kick starter near the end at the very least. Be clear as possible, get the fanbase involved and other gamers. Such a shame as this, along with Crimson Desert was my most hyped game.
Thank you for everything Robo. My heart goes out to the developers of this game, seems there were so many awesome ideas and creativity behind the game. Hope we do get some big TF game in the future. Have a good week.
Someone from Splash Damage, please, I beg of you, leak the source code! Let us fans complete it for you guys! Or at the very least so we can play the demo that others got to play.
Hopefully, one day robo team who brought the old tf games servers or a big gaming company will take over the canceled game and bring it back, playing a open world tf game would be the best thing that happened
So basically we all got screwed over, Hasbro, splash damage employees and us. It’s so upsetting to hear that THIS game would have been THE transformer game everyone would have wanted and now we can’t have that
As @revanlord05 pointed out, this game's cancellation is probably for the best so as to avoid it having become the next Suicide Squad game. However I also ge the sense from the dev's post that they made this big, rookie-level mistake of almost ALL creative endeavors, which is that they were trying too hard to make something "perfect" with each base-level concept that they lost sight of one fundamental rule of art: STICK TO SOMETHING. If they'd just chosen one path, even if they didn't think it was 100% up to their standards, they would have finished the game and made it as great as possible. It's that they were laying the foundations for this building, and then scrapping it and starting over, because the foundation wasn't "good enough". Just make a foundation, worry about that game being built upon it, and don't scrap it because the bare-bones concepts you have are obviously not perfect. This is hopefully a lesson they can learn from, and maybe any creative person reading this comment. Stick to your foundation, even if you don't think it's perfect, because you will build on that and add in or remove stuff to make it a great project as you continue. While I understand how devastating it must have been for the developers to realize their dreams of making a AAA Transformers game were snuffed out, I cannot help but feel like there was some major league incompetence that nobody who took on project lead just flat out told them "It won't be perfect now, obviously, just stick to one thing and build on that".
That likely because of the management constantly switching, It's hard to get a clear vision even from the foundation when you're getting told to take a different approach before u even finish it to begin with 😭
WELP! Bring us War and Fall of Cybertron! 😢 I was super excited for this game and even theorized it would be a great idea to bring in the Dinobots and even a cool Wreclers story line but I guess we’re not getting that now unfortunately
It really is unfortunate that this was cancelled I really hope that someone will pick it up and start working on it, but only time will tell and that could be at any moment.
I wonder if some of the old devs that worked on this that may have lost their jobs could start their own studio maybe get the assets back and start work on this again. Probably wont happen... its sad to hear about the hell its been through
Man, it's a shame because there was so much hype for this game, it was bound to be a HUGE success. How is it that companies cancel games like this and the Mandalorian game that was canceled, but give things like Gollum and Rise Of Kong their full support? If I was a company, I'd fund this without thought; I mean, there was so much support for it already and the gameplay already looks amazing. Shame that the upper management made the development so rough on the devs. Wishing them the best.
CALL ME CRAZY BUT, the devs should reach out to the fans, the community. Now idk how capable the TF community can be on this compared to the idk lets say the crazy sonic community where they fully rebuild, fix or create games better than the official ones, but the assets and code should be released for the community to collab somehow. I truly believe that the community can create at a former self or what it was to be
A free to play live service game would’ve been awesome, if they kept the support up and the characters coming, with multiple cosmetics to finance the game as well as the action figures. Such a bummer this got cancelled
I would love to join you about the investigation about what went on with TFR. I wish i could speak to the devs myself or even the Splash Damage company so we could potentially bring this game back to life by moving it to a different studio because this hands down would've been an amazing game. If you wanna dm and talk about TFR, i'd love to :)
I have a question for you guys if you were to pick a game studio to make the next big Transformers Game who would it be my money is on Insomniac for their work on Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank, and also Saber Interactive because of Warhammer 40k. P.S. I am very sad to hear about the game and the development hell it went through but I hope that someday a new big Transformers Game will rise from the ashes of this dumpster fire.
Alright I know my play for Devil's advocacy won't go over well... but if you think about it, it kinda makes sense why Splash Damage higher ups would be nervous of the idea of a full "triple A title". Splash Damage's main focus for development is multiplayer, it's been that way for nearly a decade and is essentially their bread and butter. When you hear "Splash Damage", you typically associate it with multiplayer, and the only time they ever tried to branch out from that was Brink. Brink was developed with the idea of it being a big triple A experience, and I think we all know how that went down. My point is that Splash has a track record and it wouldn't surprise me if that track record was still on the higher ups' minds. Moreover, asking people who specialize in multiplayer to shift focus to designing narrative, level based mission maps would've been a huge undertaking. More money and more time essentially, and Reactivate was already years behind schedule as it was.
Gonna be honest i don't see how you could claim it was going to be an amazing game when they couldn't settle on what reactivate was gonna be but the devs post if real is interesting yet confusing he said the UE5 leak was a version years from the final of the build of F2P version but that leak has a water mark with the year 2023-04-12 (UE5 transfer finished in march 2023) and they said they wanted to change it to a AAA premium and tencent gave them a extra year to produce results but pulled the plug in summer 2024. the maths dont make sense we need a time line
Can you still play the certain Affinity build Robo? Or you can't anymore, because it would be cool to see more gameplay of other characters like Powerglide, Prowl, Hotrod and see how they play.
Wait…. So they pulled the plug in summer 2024…. Then who updated the trademark for the official site to 2025? It’s odd bc splash damage doesnt have theirs updated. So who has the official playtfr website now? Or if they still have access to it, why would they update the trademark just to announce it’s cancelled like 2 days later?
@frenzy-r12 probably the greatest question on everyone's minds. But I think that these games should almost die off. We keep repeating history and not moving forward. What happened to Reactivate is devastating because it would have pushed TF Gaming to a new level
@@celestialprimal very low chances. If the company didn't get paid for the assets they had made to that point. The assets won't be released or given to another studio. Hmm after seeing the post i got a few questions first if nobody decided on a idea why couldnt they just make a mini poll between themselves and go off that its clear there was some opposing of ideas but like they dont have time for that and they acted like they did better to just all come together and decide on 1 2nd they should have just kept the unreal engine 4 game and updated off there cause rn id say unreal engine 5 is a major crutch its now harming games instead 3rd well just talk to your damn community sometimes you gotta talk then be silent and screw up
Maybe this is a sign that Transformers isn't ready to return to this turbulent gaming space. In my opinion, ditching the F2P would have hurt the game more than you think. Because it felt they were keeping the live service elements and gunning for an AAA pricing on top of that, it would've ended on the same trappings as Suicide Squad. Now that I think about it, maybe the cancellation was a blessing in disguise.
