Undeniably the 986 Boxster is a great car, but having owned one I don’t think it’s a pure ‘sports car’, it’s far more of a grand tourer in concept & it feels just too dulled and remote from the visceral buzz & involvement that a Caterham or Elise brings, both of which I have also owned. Today, I have an early S1 Elise, it doesn’t give you the highs of a really quick Caterham but it’s pretty quick & far more involving than a Boxster ever could be.
