Joe, I was snorkelling off the southern Ireland coast last sepu, in gin clear sea. I have NEVER seen so many giant shorecrabs in my life! Absolute tanks, justmlule these ones you have here. Got a huge bag of them and cooked them into pasta. Delicious!
Those Kung Foo crabs turned into a biblical elixir. The micro nutrient value alone of that bisque would heal most things; no wonder your ear healed rapidly eating all those Devon crustaceans these last months. Your barefoot foray into the mud and storm is appreciated! 😋🧜♂️🔥👍🏻
Great video Joe. You are so lucky to be able to forage like that. I'm 2 hours away from a decent shoreline. Amazing to see your family getting involved aswell. Teaching them where food comes from. Great stuff keep it coming please 👍
The hours we spent as boys and teenagers fishing for shore crabs with a length of string, an old nut for a sinker and a limpet as bait. Never ate them though.
You need to make a very salty brine and pour it down the razor clam hole, salt granules tend to stick to the walls and not get down the hole well especially when in a deep burrow. Loving the vids and the crab
Nice one joe Spot on little vid as usuall Me and the kids will definatly be busy when we get to the coast now catching and cookin some of these crabs and the little prawns like in the last one I cant wait 💪 Cheers bud Take care n i look forward to the next one ✌
Didn't know we could eat these - fantastic, we have loads of these in Scotland. Hopefully they don't look too similar to anything that will not be edible though.
Another fantastic video, Joe. Much braver than I am--I would never be able to search those holes. Also, the Channel's growing very fast. Well deserved!!
Just started following your channel and I love it! Where in the UK is this? I would love to holiday there. Do you do foraging courses? if you don't you should.
hello. iv always wounded about eating the big shore crabs me and my old man found on the beaches of anglesey , we called um doggeys, the claws looks really big on some of um, but im going back about 35 years
I agree sound effects made me laugh loudly. I don’t normally do that loved it. Do some more little random ones for other things cos it’s good. If u find a crab in mud all angry there may b a peeler crab female underneath in mud that it’s protecting. There’s no way I would stick my hand in a muddy crab hole like that cos hand eating alien 👽 monsters live in them. Or that’s what my brain tells me. ‘‘Tis a good job it’s rough as nuts there’s no hankerings to get that ear wet 😀 Gods just saving summer till your better. 6-7 foot swell here and no boating out the estuary I recon it was 2-3 in Est when I went out for a run to pep the batteries and check up on the rib 👍👍👍 good to see you out 👍👍
Sure has been windy as of late but clear weather ahead and eardrum lockdown is over!!! Spearfishing coming soon 👍 Thanks for the tips about the peelers 👌
I about died laughing with the sound effects!! Your soup looked amazing!! I worry about your toes though. I’ve been pinched by crabs that size and it’s no fun. Lol
Joe Pk lol I was wondering about missy. I worry for her little nose with the crabs! Lol. Thanks for the update! Can’t wait for your next adventure!! I’m in Tampa Florida and it’s miserably hot out so the beach isn’t much fun for us right now. Even the water is to warm to be refreshing! 🥵🤣
Can any one recommend me some spots in south Devon, im going this weekend. Ive got my Fins and speargun incase theres good eats fish around. im after some nice clear water to dive in from the shore line to hopeful find some crabs. Any recommendations would be a help.
Great video Bro i always enjoy watching this content i hope to see more lobsters content in the future idk why i like these thing of catching crabs AND lobsters have a good day :)
Great videos as always. I am a care worker and just spent 13 weeks away from my family. finally have a few days off and my partner wants to try foraging. I spent my years spear fishing Portland and that sort of area. That’s where I lived. Just moved to south Devon. My partner wants to go rummage after watching your videos. Any not so private spots you would be able to share. Thanks and hope that ear heels up.
Wow you deserve a break. Amazing how you have looked after those in need all this time 👌 Any beach works mate but the key is to be there at a low tide. Most of my adventures are in my local kingsbridge estuary.
Joe Pk thanks for replying. Appreciate it, it’s not far from us, so will give it a crack. Only scuba dived for scallops. Love a shore caught one. Cheers
🤣 wondered what’s was going on with those sound effects, reminded me of Kung Fu, I think that was a bit before your time JPK anyway, great entertainment as always....keep ‘em coming 👍👍
Shore Crabs more like War Crabs, they're so aggressive and armed with sweet Bruce Lee moves 😳 (I was not expecting those sound effects, please do add more in the future if you feel comfortable doing so, it was hilarious. Also that bisque looks soooo good 😢)
for some reason I thought the gills of crabs were poisonous, come across plenty but never thought to eat them, I also may get a hand spear and try to spear some sort of flat fish this summer after seeing your channel.
The sound effects had tears in my eyes 😂😂😂👍🏻 great video as always. Thank you

Thank you Brent. It's always a pleasure to see your comment 😊 My next video will be some spearfishing by the way! 🐟
@Joe Pk I’m not sure how you’re wasting time across the pond there in the uk but we r expecting two or three vids a week. ;)
Unexpected sound effects made me chuckle. Great video mate. I really want to learn more about coastal foraging. Take care. Si
As always sir a pleasure watching the vid, some gourmet tips as well. Good to see the whole family eating the spoils of a good forage.
Thanks Adam 😊

The ninja noises were gas!! Thanks as always Joe, another brilliant video 👍
Those Kung Foo crabs turned into a biblical elixir. The micro nutrient value alone of that bisque would heal most things; no wonder your ear healed rapidly eating all those Devon crustaceans these last months. Your barefoot foray into the mud and storm is appreciated! 😋🧜♂️🔥👍🏻
Haha more barefoot forays into storms are needed, or perhaps into more clement weather looking at the forecast 👌
Another quality upload Joe! The bisque looked tasty! Regards to you & yours - stay safe, stay well.
i love your videos they are awesome
Great video Joe. You are so lucky to be able to forage like that. I'm 2 hours away from a decent shoreline. Amazing to see your family getting involved aswell. Teaching them where food comes from. Great stuff keep it coming please 👍

LMAO the sound effects to the crab... I'm dying 😂
Good stuff👍👍🌟
Great vid man! I wish we had so much life on the Baltic sea coast and so much clear water. Here in Latvia we mostly spearfish in the fresh water.
Great viewing again chap!
The karate-crab sound effects made me chuckle
:-)
Thanks Karl 😄
Great video once again Joe. I think Chloe was the star of that one though. Has given me the hunger to try that recipe. All the best.👍

Haha thanks 😂
The hours we spent as boys and teenagers fishing for shore crabs with a length of string, an old nut for a sinker and a limpet as bait. Never ate them though.
great vid
The sound effects were great, made the crabs more aggressive XD
The cockles that we get on the coast here in Oregon can grow the size of a softball and weigh over a pound
Are they tasty though!?!?
@@JoePkSpearfishing they are amazing great for chowders and even clam strips

Excellent video as always and great sound effects pity about the weather. Thanks again for sharing your adventures Joe. How is missy?.👍
Hi Nigel we had some stormy weather recently! Missy is well and she is coming along on the next foraging adventure!
Didn't know we could eat these - fantastic, we have loads of these in Scotland. Hopefully they don't look too similar to anything that will not be edible though.
All the shore crabs I find at this beach north of Boston are tiny. Hoping to find some big ones for some good eating soon!
Good luck on your mission 👌
Another fantastic video, Joe. Much braver than I am--I would never be able to search those holes.
Also, the Channel's growing very fast. Well deserved!!
Yummy crab!!!
Love your channel mate 👊
Thank you 😊
Great video and I was watching the large carbs then thought, did I hear that crab make i noise 😂😂😂😂good one
Maybe the video should be called 'kung fu crabs' 🤔
great content! 👍
Thank you 😊
How does shore crab taste when compared to spider crab?
It tastes less sweet and more flaky, very like brown crab 👌
Just started following your channel and I love it! Where in the UK is this? I would love to holiday there. Do you do foraging courses? if you don't you should.

Haha didn't get pinched this time which was lucky. And by the way, Missy was visiting her sister during this adventure but she is back for the next 😊

Are they similar to the green crab ?
They are green crabs - same thing.
Joe Pk I thought so :) I love catching them! Recently found blue crabs coming in! Love your videos!
First view! Thanks for the videos Joe
Thanks Ben 😊
a lot easier to get shore crabs when u throw in a pot with fish heads and you end up with a pot full after 24/hrs :) but great video
That was great, man 🤣 fantastic video lmao. Had give you a like as soon as I heard the sound effects
haha thank you 👍
Ive always wondered if you could eat shore crabs, I presumed it was a no🤷

your family is beautiful
You are so kind
Do shore crabs not have lungs/gills or 'dead men's fingers' that need to be removed?
What makes you think they are any different to any other crab?
@@rhys8049 I think the original poster is saying they weren't removed?
What do you use to edit ??
Hi Goatdog I use sony vegas pro 14 👍
Monster black crab but it is small. Try to find for big crab. friend.

They certainly aren't nice but I don't think they're poisonous... (don't take my word for it 😂) good luck with your flatfish mish
Joe Pk alright thanks mate, I’ll let you know how it goes :)
Nice , where in Florida?
Blue Ocean he’s from the uk Devon
Devon Fishing oh , thank you for tell me
Never knew you could eat shore crabs...??? Thought you'd have gut and clean them too though....????
No need- none of it will do you any harm 👍
He kinda looks like Chris Evans with a buzz cut
that looks crabalish
lol, who edited this! XD Made me laugh.
Some crazy fool
Lol keep the sound effects brother
😂
Biggest ones I've ever seen aswel
leave the small ones
You should put the females back . But funny sound lol
Really? Gazillions of these things 😂
Aren't you supposed to leave female shore and swimming crabs?
I don't think so these crabs are not a commercial target like brown crabs or lobsters where it's better to leave females.
Not for me.
