I agree Stipe gave great effort and put up a heck of a fight for being 42 and 3+ year layoff. But as concerned as i was about how he might look, he actually looked slower than i imagined. He did look big too to be fair, maybe that was part. But he looked stiff and outmatched to me.
I can see an argument for a lame main event, but the card was sick. Brahimaj vs Gall, Tybura vs Diniz, Onama vs Romero, Miller vs Jackson, and Oliveira vs Chandler were all sick fights.

Chandler two years out almost to the day and stipe over 3 years and half a step in the retirement home of fighters. Dana needs to stand back and take a hard look at these fights put on (also listen to the people that line his pockets). I love Stipe, and he was the best 5 years ago, and he should have retired then! It was really sad to see him tarnish his career by fighting Jon Jones!

When you hit 40 it usually goes very fast. Then way longer layoff for Stipe.
@ randy coture was champion at 40 years old. age is a numeric expression. it does not denote genetics, diet, recovery, etc etc. athletes in 2024 have access to all the latest to extend their careers, especially champions and past champions who have deep enough pockets to access these various supplemental items to help them perform at their highest level. now if you said Stipe did not engage any of the latest methods to improve his performance, that’s on him. jon recruited the best jiu jitsu player in Gordon Ryan and elite wrestler Gable Stevenson for his camp, furthermore, he worked specifically with a tae kwon do instructor 3 times a week to work on that spinning back kick.

These comments hating on Jones look really dumb, yes Stipe looked slower than before but Jon looked really good and you only have to go to the comments of the other ufc fighters to see how impressed they were and many saying he is the GOAT. The man is nearly 38 years old and is still at the top,yes of cause Aspinall is going to be way faster than Stipe which is going to be a problem for Jones but come on his haters no matter what he does even if he somehow beat Tom would still find something to pick at like oh Tom was not as good as we thought he was and so on and so on. Luke Thomas now says he thinks Jones can beat Aspinall after today.
Luke also says Jones is ducking Aspinall by demanding FU money because Jones knows the UFC will never pay it.
