Ludwig feels like 200% more theatre kid by the end of this episode and I can't tell if it's because he was cold and wanted to move more or if that was just this episode's energy.
ok im on the last segment, didn’t realize that they say how cold it is in the middle of the podcast also yeah ludwigo is definitely a fuckton more theatre-boy-esque in the last quarter or smth lmao

I'm on my 6th month of working as an English teacher in Japan through JET after graduating comp sci last year in my home of Canada. Can confirm that while Japan is an interesting and beautiful place to visit, I definitely feel like an outsider at all times despite living here and speaking Japanese. Just "being in Japan" does not outweigh the dissatisfaction of a job you're not interested or the difficulty of navigating the piles of paperwork, radically different societal norms, etc. All this to say, I wouldn't recommend taking the easy way into Japan by becoming an English teacher if you're not genuinely considering that career path. And even then, it can be really tough. I made the decision to go back to Canada four months early, but I would consider coming back to work a tech job at an international company in Tokyo, Osaka, or Fukuoka in the future (note that the salary here is typically lower, but cost of living is as well). Feel free to shoot me a reply if you want to know anything else.
I'm autistic and going into a profession where I want to help people who are autistic and I think the best and most accessible resource for anyone who is questioning or just wants more information on autism is Unmasking Autism by Dr. Devon Price. I think it's weird to armchair diagnose people you do not know but I think making resources and information more available is overall a good thing. The book goes in depth about autism and masking but it also weighs the pros and cons of getting a diagnosis. If anyone in the comments is considering a diagnosis I highly recommend reading the book so you can make an informed decision.

Hey nick, historian here. The "bless you" tradition comes from people believing that evil spirits were released from sneezing. So people said bless you. Because you were more holy.
A couple of weeks ago I moved to Seattle from the middle of the Desert in California and I think I'm starting to realize how different the culture is and how I kind of did it to feel like an outsider, to alienate myself because I hated the surrounding people and I wanted to have a newfound respect for those surrounding me, such as the salaryman. 56:21 actually hits so close to home now cause I realize the sentiment behind why I did it.
