All pop groups have a life span. The Rollers did very well. You're still watching them here, after all. Undeniable proof that they made an impact on the history of pop music.
I love the Bay City Rollers....Thanks for sharing this video....
That was GREAT!!!! LOVE THEM! Glad his Mic tipped over! Great to see Woody move over & sing w/Ian! Reminds me of The Beatles sharing the mic! LOVE IT!!! 😉💕👏🏼
Same here - all the pics from "Tiger Beat", "16", etc. Loved those boys! And this was my favorite of their songs.
Love these BCR clips that have Ian in!!!

Actually, they are from Scotland. Awesome... simply awesome... I was just little kid when Rollermania hit but I can sign to every one of their songs :)
Great memories from my last days at school! Unforgettable ....long live the BCR!
The Bay City Rollers were not a rip off of the mighty Beatles. They were a 70's era bubblegum pop rock band in which they performed pop rock music which the Beatles perfected many years before. They followed a format as most bands have their entire careers. The Beatles touched everything that came after them and nothing can exist without their influence be it production, layering, harmony or writing format.
These guys were every teen girl's dream!
BRILL THE 70S FOREVER, ROLL ON
Love the Rollers, esp. Ian. What a doll !!! Would love to see more clips with him.
"Saturday Night" is the one that got me hooked. There was a helluva lot of talent harnessed in with this group.
mmmmmmHmmmmm! so true! ;-)
Looking back at the seventies is like looking at another planet.
Had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing them. They were great guys!
I was an official member of the BCR fan club and I'm not ashamed to admit it! I love you Leslie!!
freakin' amazing! I Love the Rollers! Bay City Forever!!!! Fo'eva!!!!!
This is great song!!!
Thank you sooooo much for the reminder :-) I tore my place apart last night & found my CD "Absolute Rollers" which I bought in the UK 12 years ago! Yep, I travelled half way round the world, but I made sure I came back with a BCR's CD! I knew my priorities... okay???
great song of this fantastic band that today no many people remember it, despite they have sold over 75 million albums around the world...specially in UK and USA...
Les was the love of my life back in the 70s even though I was only about 12 I loved their songs but especially Les
My gosh!!! They were all over my bedroom walls. Loved 'em!! (still do)
ooooooooooops! :-s that sucks! poor woody! ;-) love the song! i was in my mums tummy when this song was a hit...or close to being in her tummy! hahaha!
Long live the Rollers and the crazy 70s !!
I remember when they came to Bay City, Michigan
Shortly after SATURDAY came out. They had an escort to Bay City's, City Hall from the Tri City Airport, received a key from the Mayor and had their pictures on the front page of the Bay City Times. A special platform was built for the presentation thousands of people showed up and girls were screaming all over the place and they were doing only an appearance, no concert. I still have slides of the event.

The Arrows singer Alan Merrill was hanging out in Tokyo with Les's son Richard in Tokyo this week. Richard went to see Alan's show at the Shibuya Duo Exchange with his mum Peko.
The money that Arista records owes the Rollers still has not been recovered. But hopefully will be soon. At least if any of us loyal fans have anything to do with it. It's money that's rightfully theirs not the record company's.
aww poor woddy Hehe and ian So Cute Lol
Oh Wow! now am Hooked on Ian! hahahahaha! what a doll! ;-)
BCR #1 Forever!!
I totally agree!!
Love these guys!
Heavens! You had the Bay City Rollers all over your bedroom wall? What on earth were you doing with them?!
I remember my plaid hemmed jeans. I had a huge crush on the guys.
Amen!!
Há ai um baterista que é Grande Gente!!
GOOD SONG,
From what I understand, studio session musicians were used for their first album since they were only given two days to put it together. I am not certain about the following albums, but I don't believe that was the case (I could be wrong, and if I am, I'm someone will jump in and correct me). Nonetheless, they did tour, so I am assuming they were all playing the instruments themselves. Even if they weren't (and I believe they did), this can't take away from the fact that Les McKeown DID sing.
Itt Magyarországon is sztárok voltak, pedig ha 1-2 dalukat ismertük!
Csaba from Hungary
Yeah No Kidding!i would love to be that mic stand! OMG! *melts* ;-)*sigh*
thats funny but still great because its about the music and not anything else. Even if the microphone fell.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! but where is the rest of it?:-s ah well! that's ok! LOVE IT!
Oh you lucky girl, what I wouldn't give for a kiss from Ian Mitchell!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOO! thats too beneath him i think!:-| ah well! Woody and Ian have GREAT HEARTS!

Great song! Does anyone have the BCR's version of "Be My Baby"? I heard them singing it on an Ann Margaret Special a lifetime ago, but still remember it like it was yesterday!
Love how the guys from across the pond's pants were so short...
ah the confident strutt of mr mckeown
thats the breaks of "LIVE" tv !!! can't be redone once something wrong happens.
DEVINE ! lol
@buddyeagle Rod Stewart of The Faces wore tartan outfits as well. It was the seventies. People were experimenting with style and fashion. Slik, another Martin-Coulter produced band wore baseball outfits, and they were Scottish! Don't blame the band. It was generally a management decision. The late Tam Paton probably decided on the band's attire.
@slider876 Yes, outstanding teen icons.
Said ...bcrfan79 (5 months ago) Eric is on lead, Woody on bass, Derek on drums and les on lead vocals.
But there are five of them look at 1:55. i thought there were only 4 too
@KeithTheKing An old story in rock-n-roll.
@clearviewmind This was a hit for them in 1976.
@manbigus... and Ian was from N. Ireland.
@quatt47 The Byrds didn't play on their first records, they just sang except for McGuinn. On the Byrds records it was Hal Blaine on drums and Carole Kaye on bass. The Monlees were the same. It's not so unusual. However, Les sang the lead vocals. Fact.
Cool clip! But why couldn't Les pick up Woody's mic real quick? Poor guy lol.
@beamerZ - I'm sure they played and sang live when they did concerts. It was fairly normal for bands to lip sync back in the mid 70s UK. Even bands like Queen and Pilot did it on TV.
can u believe it
getting old certainly beats the alternative, doesn't it?!!
When they reached superstardom, couldn't they have worked out their contract with Bell/Arista, and produced good AOR rock, as they were talented enough to do. Something went wrong somewhere because they should all be retired multi-millionaires by now, up there with the likes of Pink Floyd, Elton John and Paul McCartney. Because, let's face it, they were popular enough.
@KeithTheKing :-) Nah, I remember The Bay Shitty Rollers fondly if I'm honest. I had this song going around in my head all day long, and just had to check it out on youtube when I got home. What year was this?? I was born in 1970, and I reckon it must have been 1978-79 max!
who are the memembers from this era
like who played lead, rhythm, bass, sang and drums... thanks
It's off of an over 30 year old video tape. You must be young and used to the digital age. It's a miracle this tape survived at all.
Do you mean the Sid and Marty Kroft TV thing? To be fair I think the Rollers didn't like doing it very much. They said so on a VH1 documentary.
@KeithTheKing ...that's part of the plan! ;-)
@unclemort1960 Big Jim Sullivan was the preferred session guitar player for the BCR producer Phil Coulter. As good a player in his own way as the far more charismatic photogenic Page, who (alternately with Chris Spedding) worked for producer Mickie Most. Those were the three pop guitar studio hit men. Page, Spedding and Sullivan.
@schultz970 Yeah. A better planet.
someone knows what they are doing now? I was crazy about them, they are part of my teenage years
@PAULLONDEN That's your opinion, and I respect that. There are BCR fans here who won't be to happy about these sort of comments, so let's say 'the spice of life is variety" and "to each his (or her) own." Tis thread must end here. As Les would say... "cease!" - LOL
Ha Ha!, nothing to do with the video, but I love your username! I'm sure there's a story in it somewhere!
i wasnt even born then Lmao
I think they were from Scotland.
@atomic3939 Yeah, that's why all the hip hop and rapper artists sample the 70s, and make recycled hits out of this good stuff.
i STILL think Eric's pretty cute
they were from edinburgh scotland not england
Which band? The Bay City Rollers were primarily a Scottish band. The Arrows were an Anglo-American band.
Nothing wrong with those young Scotsmen, those who produce so much of this crap we hear today could take lessons from these guys.
@missmarypickford - The manager died. I don't think the case was ever resolved. The money seems to have "vanished" - sad for the band.
@Litawyn With all respect, the Bay City Rollers had more young ladies throwing themselves at them than you've had hot dinners, funky teeth and all, so I think you should put it in perspective. You can critique their dental aesthetics, but they were popular all the same. I find it more amusing that you care so passionately about this oddity.
Apparently the case is all but resolved with a large payout coming for the boys. They put aside their differences and are meant to be on good terms with plans to reunite in 2014 for a world tour and new music. Nothing is written in granite, but man that would be awesome!

Slime Tron has been banned from posting here.
Wonder what they look like now

You dont want to know or look :( we are all old!!!
Arrows Jake and Paul have passed away. Lead singer Alan Merrill still looks fit in 2018.
