I have passion vines Al over my yard and lots of butterflies, eggs and caterpillars. I've collected a few to watch their lifecycle with the kids. So excited to see these beautiful creatures emerge new. They are just as beautiful if not more so than their cousin, the Monarch.

What a great video!! Well done!
I am in the process of "raising" a Fritillary who's egg was layed late in the season as the passion vine was dying back.
I brought it inside, bought host plant for it to eat all the while inside my house. It's now in the pupation stage as of yesterday. There's no food outside as it's December.
I'm considering either using my refrigerator to postpone/overwinter it's cycle, or let it hatch and keep it inside my house for the duration of adulthood.
    Undecided which I should attempt.

Thank you so much for this beautiful video you've made ... and with a perfect choice of soft music too! I had never seen the caterpillar or the butterfly of this species before, and I just discovered a caterpillar feeding on my Passion Flower Vine the other day. Found it in my Butterfly field guide, and once I knew what it was, I did a YT search and found your wonderful video. Today the caterpillar attached itself to a tendril on the vine, and I'm looking forward to seeing its chrysalis, followed by the emerging beautiful GF Butterfly!!! :-) Btw, do you happen to know which species of Passiflora you have in your garden? I have 2 species, one of which is NOT a native Passion Flower, and this caterpillar wasn't at all interested in the non-native Passiflora (even though my field guide says that they eat the leaves of "other species.") So just wondering if you know what species your vine is.

They are on my wild potato vines too but the host plant is the passion vine. The butterflies will eat from many flowers. They love my butterfly plants and salvia.
