LITERALLY JUST DID THIS 24 HOURS AGO AFTER GETTING SUBBED MORE IN 1 DAY THAN I HAD IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS COMBINED 😭😭 I almost ran a stop sign because I was so deeply contemplating where my life went wrong 😂😂😂
Mad Respect for you man for showing a video of you getting tapped and having your off day. A lot of BJJ youtubers don't like showing videos of themselves getting smashed. Although you're a absolute Beast at BJJ, we all have our good and bad days, it's all part of the game and it makes us better and this video shows your humility.
Tyler, I'm so used to seeing you get a tap or at least hold your own. This just goes to show how deep this martial art can get. Dust off and keep on going.
The icing on the cake/adding injury to insult was the “you’re tough” he gave you at the end. We’ve all heard that after getting smashed and know exactly what it means.
Its nice to see you are human and still learning as well. Much respect for showing this on RUclips. It was weird watching you get man handled though. Not used to seeing that. Just shows how good he was. Great beak down as always even if you weren't on the winning side. Your videos always make me laugh. Much appreciated.
lol appreciate the candidness showing the video and in the commentary-- you made me lol several times here, props. People tend to think "black belts are invincible", whereas the painful reality that an older or purely recreational blackbelt can very often or very easily get handled by a true competition ready lower belt on the mats is the real truth. Its no knock on you at all. I just got my black belt at 44 and 155lbs after grappling since literally 1995 after seeing Royce do it in the UFC. I have competed a few times, had a cage fight, won a few gold medals, few silver, few bronze, a NAGA belt, etc-- but I train extremely casually and have had very long periods of not training which is why its taken me so long to get the black. I hold my own in my own gym against guys my own size and bigger, but occasionally have to tap , its no big deal. If I let it be a big deal, I wouldnt have gotten my black. Just reality. Props for keeping it light.
It must be exciting finding a black belt who owns you. I look at these moments as motivation, that there’s a lot of more work to be done and with hard work means one day you can be that black belt! 🥋
Just keep showing up and trust the process! ;) Jokes aside, thanks for showing that even the upper belts have "those days" too. You lived a lot of the mantras we tell ourselves; - Check the ego at the door - Tap early, tap often - Be gracious, they are your partner not opponent - If you get spanked, make sure to talk about how your gym doesn't train gi/nogi as applies to the situation - Stay calm under pressure, everyone has the same weird thoughts Respect my dude
I admire your willingness to get beaten so badly by a top class player. The man is amazing at JJ and it just goes to show that even a very skilled grappler like yourself can be outclassed. It is a big world out there and we all need to be humble. There is always SOMEONE out there who is next level better at anything.
Theres a near endless selection of Marcelo Garcia, Roger Gracie, Mica Galvao, Gordon Ryan, and Rafa Mendes videos out there if watching black belts getting tooled helps, lol. I watch them religiously. 🤣
I remember meeting you that morning (Colin, tall, bald brown belt) and I looked over mid roll to see you going with Jackson Nagai, and said to my partner, “that’s not a fun time.” For the record, he does that to everybody in the room. Hopefully next time you’re in town we can get a roll in.
I’ve personally rolled with Jackson myself and I could tell he was being nice. He is a stone cold killer on the mat. So good at hunting submissions and going for the kill just like his brother. He’s also deceptively strong. He’s got heavy weight strength
You may have lost but none of us know everything and we, as martial artists, know that a loss is where you learn. If you think about it that way you may lose the match but you still win because you learned from it. I think you do a fine job.
The amazing thing about Jiu-Jitsu is that there are so many levels of making the person below you look silly. When I roll with someone brand new, they look silly. When I roll with someone who's been a blue belt for a while, I look silly. When I watch them roll with a purple belt, they look silly. Then that purple belt rolls with a brown and looks silly. And so on. I'm sure Tyler is at least 5 orders of magnitude better than I am. And yet, this roll could've been me against an upper blue belt.
I just got beat so bad at a new academy that I felt like the last 8 years of training have been a waste. Jiu jitsu makes you feel bipolar. I needed this, thanks. I know I'm not alone now lol.
You made me feel good today as I started training at a new gym that cross-trains in NoGi. After years of GI BJJ, I felt like a white belt when rolling without a GI.
Damn! This guy made Tyler's Jiu-Jitsu look like mine (purple belt) when I roll with black belts. Thanks for sharing. It did me good to remember that I'm not the only one who takes multiple submissions and even gets embarrassed from time to time.
Driving home with the radio off after a rough night … oh those are bad times. Just sitting there, reliving all the terrible positions and submissions you got caught in Lol
If your defense is great in a Gi, it improves your defense in NoGi by 10x. Tyler, you were beating yourself by blaming the Gi, your better than that and I've seen you do some amazing things in a Gi. This just shows you have more to grow in the sport. We are always white belts in learning! Respect sir! LOVED WATCHING JACKSONS CLOCK CHOKE AND HOW HE MOVED TO DOPE MOUNT. Nice!
Very good stuff..!! There's a reason it's called MMA..!! I was a pretty high level wrestler in my younger years but Judo opened up so many possibilities for my grappling..!! I would highly recommend any wrestler learn Judo or BJJ..!! They complement each other so well..!!
Yea my man Jackson Nagai is no joke. I had the opportunity to train with him and his brother Samuel at my gym. lol on Samuel’s 18th birthday none the less. lol he sent me home with a quiet car stereo too. lol. 😂 😂😂
Love your work. You are brave and ambitious. I hope your emphasis on winning and losing are in jest. It’s the getting tapped fast and often is how ya learn. Enough of them and you improve. The fact that you are doing Gi means you are on a disciplined path. Discipline is doing what we hate to do because it is necessary to reach our goals of self development; moreover, to do it until we learn to love it and make it a part of our lives… this is the way!!! It is my hope that if I ever get to meet you that you allow me to drill with you enough to be tapped out enough to learn !!!
This happens to me (2-year brown belt) at least once every day I roll 5 to 6 days a week, Haha, As they say, "You aren't learning if you're not tapping".
Exactly why I really don’t like doing gi. Grip fighting to me is too exhausting. My gameplan always is to let them get the grip. Engage me with whatever lapel game they have and then I use the fear of my ancestors disowning me to get out of a submission/ bad position.

Nevertheless i think it is a good one 🎉❤🎉

Your picture 💀
LITERALLY JUST DID THIS 24 HOURS AGO AFTER GETTING SUBBED MORE IN 1 DAY THAN I HAD IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS COMBINED 😭😭
I almost ran a stop sign because I was so deeply contemplating where my life went wrong 😂😂😂
I have also experienced this haha. And many sleepless nights replaying stupid mistakes I made that evening.
We've all been there for sure!
I came here to say this. I'm not the only one clearly.
Mad Respect for you man for showing a video of you getting tapped and having your off day. A lot of BJJ youtubers don't like showing videos of themselves getting smashed. Not just "good day/bad day" obviously Tyler puts more time into no-gi so this guy is going to have the upper hand. Mad respect indeed.
Thank you for the roll brother
Thanks for beating me up for the world 🌎😄
Made homie look like a white belt. 😬
@@brandonkeach3344🤬 do u even grapple rookie
@@brandonkeach3344 You train with the right person, its 100% going to happen to you too, lol.
I’m a brown belt and there’s a few black belts around here that make me look like I haven’t trained a day in my life. Glad it’s not only me!
Then one day you’ll become so technical…. And also 70 years old so the 20 year old blue belts beat you
Brown also. Just rolled with a competitive black belt and he tapped me about once every 1 minute. 😂
@@TylerSpangler
Black belt here and same thing for me, too.
Purple belt here, I’ve been tapped by white belts
I needed to see this after getting my ass handed to me these past few sessions. Thanks for showing that we all go through ups and downs.
Tyler, I'm so used to seeing you get a tap or at least hold your own. This just goes to show how deep this martial art can get. Dust off and keep on going.

You’re not alone mate. I’m 6’5 230lb, recently got my black belt and my instructor still makes me look like it’s my first day. 😂
He was having fun playing with his play toy!🤣😂🤣
Huge respect for posting is all a part of training and learning

LOL. He was grinning and so relaxed the entire time he was making you feel like a little girl. That was amazing.
... sorry... I don't know how you felt... I meant "look like a little girl"

Just a bunch of lessens. A lot of humor in humility. Thank You.
You looked like you had fun, so you did great. There are so many levels to Black Belt.

Samuel might be an even bigger monster. They're both killers
Great video, as usual! Thanks so much
Your hilarious and encouraging to the jit community. Thanks
I am convinced that there are some folks who have another person's "number" and no matter what, always win
I love how he said your tough at the end 😂
Your commentary is legendary, mate 💪 hilarious and educational

Love his game. Slow and steady pressure.
Mad respect bro! We love you no matter what lol
Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Appreciate you being humble and showing this roll when you were the nail. We have all been there. 😊
“Sometimes you’re the hammer, sometimes your the nail.” It happens bro.
Good one. The levels seem endless but then that’s the beauty.

This is your best video yet!!!!
This video is a valuable lesson because you have shown us how to lose and accept it without the humility.
This is much better to learn from because we know what you are thinking and I second that driving home with the radio off😉
The main thing I don't like about the gi is the mental gymnastics people will do to justify why we still wear it
There’s value in learning to use people’s clothing to control them.
This was basically my roll with Samuel Nagai, lol. You never truly know enough hahah
"I realized I'd have better luck just by taking his pants down." +1 😂

Good tapping 👍‼️no injuries
That's what you get for being a dirty guard puller!!
The real question is, does he handle you like this no-gi? If so, then he's better. If not, then he's a clothes folder.
There's Levels to this game. 😅 But you're being a good sport about it 👍
