    To clarify, the difference between the subclasses in D&D and Archetypes in Pathfinder is mainly that subclasses do not change base features of the class. Nothing is ever removed by a subclass, and rarely are features from other classes added by a subclass. A subclass is more of an add-on then a total change. The archetypes have the potential to completely change the way a class is played, and change a lot more than subclasses do.

      Subclasses in DnD are also decision points within the class and you cannot decide to forego them and just use the base class.

    Nice, I really like the overview, but I would enourage you to check out the subclasses in-game before you do an overview on them, the character creation tables can be heavily misleading and/or very vague. For example, you failed to mention that Vivisectionist's medical discovery is not just non-bomb-related alchemical discoveries, but also includes rogue talents from the rogue class at every second level, not just once at 10th, thats just when advanced rogue talents are unlocked as options.
    Other than that, I really like how concise and to the point your videos are, no long-winded tyrades over balance which I see many RPG channels have a tendency to fall into.
    Keep it up my man !

    Thank you thank you for taking the time to actually research what the archetype changes. Continue to keep an eye out for what that feature REPLACES in future videos. For instance, the Hagbound Witch archetype gains a strength bonus, but doesn't get a hex at that level. That's the "cost" for the different ability. All of the archetype abilities look great on paper until you realize you missed out on an important class feature. They're sneaky.

    I think it would be cool to include a segment on available mythic abilities too, especially if there are alchemist specific ones

      I'll be sure to take a look, most of the class ones have been very general like more uses of class ability type stuff (inquisitor bane, and paladin channels/smite etc)

    Subclasses in dnd 5e add things to your character while archetypes of pathfinder 1e usually replace things. Also, in the TTRPG, archetype can be stacked if they don't replace the same features. This is why they're different.

      I was wondering how long it was gonna take for someone to explain it 😂 thank you, I honestly do appreciate anyone trying to be helpful. I learn a ton from people in the comments

      Yeah basically Archetypes in PF1E allowed you to change class features to something that matched what you wanted the class to do, and reduced the need for multiclassing and prestige classes. The goal was to have a lot of player choice at earlier levels rather than a subclass like in 5e, where it doesn't present with meaningful differences as often when leveling.

    I'll throw in some more details about Alchemist Class.
    Spells: Int is the stat for casting spells.
    Mutagen: one of the strongest ability of the game since it's bonuses are tagged as alchemical and, becouse of that, they stack with every other bonuses. Mutagen has very long duration (10 minutes for each level) and can be modified for non-physical version (buff to Int, Char, Wis while lowering Str, Dex, Cos) and both version can be improved to greater ones and feral ones.
    Archetypes:
    1) Chirurgeon: an healing focused version (an hybrid alchemist/cleric)
    2) Grenadier: focus on bombs (lots of them)
    3) Incense Synthesizer: focus on party enanchment ( an hybrid alchemist/bard)
    4) Metamorph: an alchemist shapeshifter (an hybryd alchemist/druid)
    5) Preservationis: alchemist specialized in summons
    6) Vivisectionist: an hybrid alchemist/rogue
    Vivisectionist: it merits a special mention becouse in Kingmaker was one of the strongest class in the game and a must class to add to every melee op build.
    Six levels of Vivisectionist can make any melee build an overpower one:
    1) Mutagen for 1h: +4 to main physical stat and +2 to A.C. that stacks with every other bonuses
    2) Feral Mutagen: extra primary attacks (at base highest attack bonus) and +2 to intimidation checks
    3) Feral Wings: +3 dodge bonus to A.C. (dodge bonus stacks) and immunity to effects of difficoult terrains
    4) +3d6 sneak attack: do i really need to explain this?

      Question: is there ever a point in playing the base class over the Grenadier?

    • @marcocolosimo1716
      @marcocolosimo1716 3 года назад +2

      @@DuelMp5 in my opinion? No. Grenadier is really good since even at low levels u don't do friendly fire.
      With mythic abilities, around lvl 5 you can choose to ignore any fire resistence or immunty while dealing fire damage (base damage of the bombs).
      A little spoiler: there are a lot swarm enemies in second chapter and grenadier is really good.

    I like the video, but for future ones, can you make sure that what you're showing on screen matches what you're talking about? For example, at the beginning, you're talking about mutagens while you're hovering over the poison immunity ability. It's somewhat distracting. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing more of these.

    Honestly coming for DnD 3.5 people tell me pathfinder is vastly different than DnD and I don't see it. Some things are changed but I've seen other RPGS with completely different rules. Pathfinder and did are just to close to me. Especially when your talking CRPGs.

    • @hawkeye137137
      @hawkeye137137 3 года назад +3

      I don't know who says that Pathfinder 1e and Dnd 3.5 are vastly different, but they clearly aren't. Pathfinder 1e is basically Dnd 3.5 which had an overhaul update. Pathfinder's martial class counterparts are arguably more useful than DnD's ones(compared to caster classes there is a lesser gap between power levels) and almost every base class is more interesting thanks to more unique class features.

    • @ChanceRiddle
      @ChanceRiddle 3 года назад +3

      I imagine anyone who says Pathfinder is different to DnD is talking about DnD 4e or 5e. Pathfinder is literally published using the 3.5e open game license. One of the main goals for it in development was to be as close to 3.5e as they could legally get it to be, the other being to fix issues they had with it.

    • @dagonofthedepths
      @dagonofthedepths 3 года назад

      @@ChanceRiddle I hope so, just had a lot of people on Kingmaker forums saying that class builds where totally different. Like how ray sneak attacks work and such. I don't know maybe it's a min/max thing. Didn't seem that complex to me.

      Yeah, when I first heard about Pathfinder people often referred to it as essentially 3.75. People use the term "3.x" to talk generally about 3.0, 3.5, and Pathfinder 1e.

    • @DragonKnightX12
      @DragonKnightX12 3 года назад
