Cycling saved me too from terrible anxiety, stress, overthinking and low mood. The immersion in nature, the sounds of the wheels and the exercise benefits have helped me massively over the years and I’d recommended it to anyone who needs find inner peace. Get riding! 🚴
Cycling quite likely saved my life during crippling depression and near suicide. After a back injury, and quitting cycling completely for several years I can see a definite pattern of decline back into poor mental health and destructive habits. I'm in the process of reigniting my passion with a few adjustments due to my back issues. It's the utter simplicity of cycling, self esteem gained and positive endorphins I'm already being reminded of again. Keep up the channel...good message to share!
My divorce brought me to my knees and I was close to my dirt nap. But my fixed gear saved my life and my relationship with my kids. So I know how you feel. Keep up the positivity
I started cycling during Covid and then retired two years later and decided to get the racer out and keep going at 67. It’s amazing how the apps help you improve and set targets. Enjoyed your video.
Yes man, I'm so happy for you finding something that you love so much. And I can totally relate. Cycling is my therapy, too. Being so present in the moment and enjoy everything that is flying by... you just being your authentic you, in all that sweaty glory...;D ... just here enjoying life... Wonderful.
Just came across your video. I have started riding again after many year away. I have gone through many bouts of depression. I ride to work and I can see how I feel more positive and happy during the day. Must do something for the mind as well as the body
THANKS for a great video - at 65, very overweight and suffering from Major Depression Disorder - cycling saved my life!! It help greatly with the depression and out look on life and help me lose 165lbs!!! Highly recommend a simple helmet and a bike!!
Oh wow it's great to hear that cycling helped you too! That's amazing, such an inspiring story! I wish you all the best in your mental wellbeing journey :)
cycling really saved me from anorexia, a terrible relationship with food made me eat good and healthy to ride further faster and to be stronger. an amazing sport
Just became your 400th subscriber! Hopefully I’ll be able to help my depression with biking too. If got worse over the lockdown and then never got better 😕
Legend thanks so much! It will definitely help I'm sure! I think a lot of people struggled during lockdown and there's definitely some long lasting effects going on! I hope you feel better soon!
What if depression is getting in the way of your cycling? I ask because I like training but lately I can't be bothered to do intervals on the trainer, something I actually used to look forward to.
This happened for me too! Don't put too much pressure on yourself :) I think that can add even more worries. I think doing what you feel like doing is important, if that's skipping training then that's fine. It's also know thought that sometimes you may need to push. Depression for me, wanted to stop me doing everything. Sometimes the best thing I did was not give in and do it anyway. It's tough to do but can help to beat the cycle :)
Small steps. Use the tiny bit of energy you do have, and put your shoes on, get your bike out of the garage, and go sit on the porch with it next to you. If that’s all you can do for the day, totally fine. If you feel the urge to hop on from there, yay!

Could always try a recumbent bike.
@@laminarthos8211 I did, but found it wasn't good for my back at all. I'm now cycling 200km+ per week on a touring bike without any issues.
Amazing story! Thanks so much for sharing! It's great to see how getting back to cycling is helping you too! All the best in your recovery :)

I noticed

I'd imagine stair climbing would help your cycling for sure!
