Q&A part 1: Why are you so obsessed with the Apelles palette?

The main reason that I use the Apelles palette is because I have seen what Odd Nerdrum can do with this palette. In my opinion he is by far the greatest painter, so if this is the palette that he uses, then I don’t want anything else.
SIMPLE & STRAIGHTFORWARD
The other reason is that this palette is extremely simple and straightforward. You can quickly and easily achieve natural feeling colors. So for me it has everything I could ever want, and adding any colors to this would just complicate the process without giving me any additional benefits.
WHY CAN’T I ADD COLORS??
You can do anything you want. The reason I don’t add colors is because I’m trying to imitate Odd Nerdrum and I think it works really great as is.

The Bo Bartlett Center Columbus Ga. just received one of Nerdrum works for exhibition Big Stories. It is so gorgeous, beautiful sensitive handling of paint, dreamy. Just incredible. You are right he is the master!
