Just wanted to shout out and say thank you! Your videos gave my the confidence to actually try and fix my t17's myself! I would of never even tried if it wasn't for you! Appreciate you and all your hard work!
Hi Mike, Thanks much. Be sure to watch some of the more recent live videos of mine that replace the chip. I am much more successful than just using a hot air gun.... If you join the discord, there are a lot of people that can help. Once i a while, I do a live webcast and announce it there. You can ask questions during that time and I can respond. Thanks!
This is awesome, thank you so much for the videos I’m going to replay and replay and replay lol want to learn how to this in my garage make a living quit my corporate job!
Love the video! I am looking to get into asic repairs myself. Your soldering skills aren't bad but this all looks very similar to console repairs. I think you could gain a ton of technique watching those videos. Northridgefix is a great one
question can you use the hashboards as is in the same type of mining rig (antminer s17pro in my case ) or do you need to reprogram the chip data of the hash board ? i wondering if thats just needed when you change hashboards between say a s17 a t 17 or even an s19 trying to find out wat it takes to reuse old hashboards
I have a question. I thought the soldier Bitmain used had a melting point of 140 degrees celcius. Am i mixing faherenheit with celcius here as you use 450 degrees heat gun? Thanks for your video, you are the only one explaing this well to repair bitmain asics.
Hi Arthur, You may be correct. I was reading on bitmain.org where someone posted the solder they are using for the chips. It was the two solders I am using. higher temp for the chip, and lower temp for heat sink. I do know that I am having better luck cleaning all of their solder off before replacing the chip. I am only talking in Celsius. I got the 450 from a video on zeusmining that says to put on the BM1387 chip, to hold a gun at 450C for 20 or so seconds and the chip would seat. I haven't had such luck as you see with my videos. I appreciate any input or discussion you have. Keep it coming!
@@AntminerRepair Great thanks for your answer. I am planning to use 138 degrees celcius soldier paste for repair. It is the same type of melting point soldier bitmain use i heared. I heared a lot of stories about melting soldier when an antminer is not cooled properly. So it has to ve low melting point soldier? Not sure if you damage components when using higher temperatures for repair . I realy like your repair journey. Keep posting!

Hello i have been testing the kiloohm value on T17 boards ... so the reading should be + - CLK o.l , CI o.l , BI o.l , RST around 10.00 and RO 2.500 on my reading of RO i get a few 5.10 -6.00 so i guess that chip that has that reading both ends is the bad chip. my question is why my I loosing a decimal why reading is not 5.000 not sure it matters but i like to cover all angles Also have another question .. i have a few T17 boards that are all over the place in terms of asic detection on my test jig : for exemple i will test a board it will give only 18 asics a few times in a row then it will say 24 asics once or twice and then it will read 3 asics starting to get suspicious of my test jig ... anyone has any idea what would cause such different test results .. thank you very much for your time
Hi CZ, Yes, I have since moved to a workstation with infra-red and a heater. It is a game changer and my success rate has jumped much higher. I have a video on that also. But that is normal. I set the plate to about 180, but start the rework at about 120-140. Sometimes I use the infra-red, but lately, I just use the heat gun. Much nicer! Thanks for your comments.
When you remove the heat sink again, you are likely to get the chip also. chips require higher melting temperature (182C) and heatsinks require lower (132C)
Hello, I have several damaged T17s, I managed to recover some by changing asic and temperature sensors, but due to an oversight on my part, there was a screw in the rods that feed the current cards, after that it throws me this error. Hi Agustin, I'm not sure specifically what you would like to know? Solder? for the chip, 182 degree, the heat sink 132C degree. If you would like to ask more questions, come on the discord. Sometime it depends on the board you work on also.

Man you're hitting it hard. Any thought on using a pre-heater on the board? Say bring it up to 150c or so first, then use le heat?

what will be the problem if use same solder paste for bouth chip and heatsink?
When you remove the heat sink again, you are likely to get the chip also. chips require higher melting temperature (182C) and heatsinks require lower (132C)
Do you recommend the "ZEUS MINING CRYPTO MINING PRO" fixture? thanks
I think they are a reputable company.
What are your thoughts regarding the S17+
They are good at feeding my hobby of repairing boards. But seem structurally pretty good, just some solder issues.

Hi, do you have original s17 heatsink (radiators) to sell?
Hi, I have some s17 radiators, but there are people on discord that could probably help you in that. Just post in for sale - wanted....
can you not use a tinning tool on the chip????
Hi Bobi. I had some issues with the running tool early on. I use it pretty regularly now. Thanks for watching.
what material do you use?
