I had a close encounter with a Sasquatch on May 28,2010…7:10pm in the Allegheny National Forest here in PA. The sound this thing was making, approximately 30 yards away can only be described as a “roar”….I describe it as the sound that the T-Rex in Jurassic was making when chasing the vehicle. I could feel the bass reverberating in my chest and head. I have absolutely nothing to gain by writing this, I’m not exaggerating, I remember it like it happened yesterday. It’s not a question of “if” they exist, it’s now “what exactly are we dealing with”…..! I am one of thousands and thousands that have had an encounter, they are 100% real.

I don't know what to make of your story. Thanks for sharing. I have spent weeks in ANF. I have hiked the 100 mile NCST twice and spent many nights wild camping. Done Minister Creek, Morrison, Tracy Run, Rimrock. It's basically my favorite place on Earth. I've seen many black bears which always ran from me. I always had at least 1 working-line German Shepherd with me. About 1 am one night camped on the plateau above the Minister Valley I heard what sounded like a club being whacked against a tree trunk. My dogs alerted too. I estimated the sounds coming from about 1/4 mile away. I figured it was a prankster from the campground located next to Rt. 666. I went back to sleep, but I've never forgotten.

I'm thinking that they are migratory in Michaux area. In warmer weather there is an abundance of deer , especially along Rt. 233. Many deer are hit by cars along that Route. And then nearby there is the orchards and farms . Quite a variety of foods with hiding areas . Could support many large creatures that come down from the north or up from the south on a seasonal basis.

A beautiful spot WW and Thanks for sharing this adventure! Ive talked to a number of people over the year who have had encounters with Sasquatch or Bigfoot. One was my ex wife when she was in high school camping with friends at a state park in south western Pa. the area she was from as well. She awoke in the middle of the night and smelled a very strong musky odor, crawled outside her tent and stood on the near by trail. In a moment she was face to face with a large bipedal hairy creature. She said it’s eyes had an orange glow. It happened so fast and the creature just seemed to disappear. Not in a literal sense but very quickly. So fast was the experience that she wasn’t scared until afterwards. Another couple I knew were in the south west hiking in a canyon in the Four Corners area, I don’t remember the state. This large creature was throwing rocks down from above not to hit them, which would have been quite easy they told me but as a warning to leave, which they did. It wasn’t an area where there was hiking normally, more remote. Another man was with 3-4 friends in the Southwest and came across a large cave in a canyon. They walked back but only had a weak flashlight. He said the cave ceiling was high, perhaps 18-20 feet. About 16 14-16 feet up they spotted a pair of orange eyes. Indeed they got out of there pronto, as they heard very loud sounds they never encountered before. They never went back and if I recall they were looking for fossils and or geodes. So none of these folks had reason to make up stories, I trusted them all. So this is what I was told so take it as you may. There are so many sightings, trail cams, videos and stories and certainly some may well be contrived. But some are not. There are many honest folks who have nothing to gain from made up stories. My friends above rarely talked about their experiences or made them public in any way. I’ve seen UFOs in my years quite a few times and I know they were not the usual flying things we see any day or night. As most things we hear, there is an element of doubt until we ourselves experience it. Thanks Again WW! Perhaps one day you may see something you won’t be able to explain as you are Wondering. But isn’t this possibility something that gives life a wonderful mysterious element? Many Blessings with Joy of Being and Wonderful Wondering Adventures! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania

Of course I’m only repeating the stories I was told, second hand. So you as myself didn’t experience these sightings. I trusted these sources very much so there is something to be said here. So Kind Thanks and I’m sure we will both keep our eyes open in the woods, which I do anyway. Have a great week. And Many Blessings! DaveyJO

Nor do I care if anybody believes me. I heard a 6 to 700 lb bipedal creature run at least 80 mph very close to me. I wish I saw it. It just happened to quickly. A forest ranger told me once their are Bigfoot sightings there. Their is also a lot of cult activity, animals with their heads cut off, we have heard strange chanting and drums up there several times. I personally had a strange encounter while picking rasberries. I was picking rasberries near my sisters farm ( which you passed on the way up) when I heard something I turned around to look and and standing in the middle of the road was a huge black wolf it was just starring at me. I froze for a moment then slowly walked backwards toward my car parked near me praying the whole time. It then ran into the woods. I found out my family saw a big black animal in their yards earlier that week

Hello, again, Cliff, I really liked your first 2 Bigfoot articles on RUclips. I will be following to the end. Did you not mention that you may go looking for Bigfoot yourself? I can tell you have completed a lot of research on the subject and did some daylight hunting. As a source, have you conducted a RUclips search by simply putting "Bigfoot in Pennsylvania" in the search box? You can then scroll through and very likely find even more locations, facts and information. There is a boat-load of articles, some much better than others, and some fringe areas, like Somerset County and thereabouts are covered, even with a low density of the animal(?). If it is an animal.
I have given thought to looking for our quarry myself. From my hunting days I figure that the highest point of mountains one crests when you drive north on Goldmine Road, from Middlecreek Wildlife Area, is a promising area. At that spot is a game commission parking area for hunters. Following the trail to the west, it is readily observed that during the late fall a person can observe a very long distance into the woods down into the valley. Two things to watch out for there are large, deep foxholes dug by the Army when they held exercises there. They are camouflaged by dead leaves. The other hazard is the old air shafts from the underground mine tunnels. They are not protected and would be death traps if fallen into. I carry a walking stick and probe ahead in places where I can not see ground objects like rocks or roots. This is the eastern area of St. Anthony's Wilderness. I had given thought to conducting an overnight observation from a couple of miles west of the parking area. Unfortunately, I have a situation at home that will not permit that. I was going to try a couple of things I have observed on the TV program, "Expedition Bigfoot". Banging large sticks, whistles, loud guttural hoots and lights under a fake tent. And to have my camera ready (plus I would be carrying protection in the form of bear spray and my 44 mag as back-up.) Some thoughts for you, should you do some night observation sessions. In addition to having bright flashlights available, choose your protection in the event something goes awry. Another thing I thought of when a TV program interviewed people that had close contact when bigfoot snuck up on them. Have a large quiet and well trained dog with you, staying by your side. The dog will detect things with their vastly superior senses that you or I would never detect and have the dog trained to quietly alert you, the handler. That might be the most effective safety measure you could have. And the dog could chase bigfoot off if you so ordered. When on the offensive, the dog should be OK. (This also gives a good measure of protection from black bears.)
So, please give us (your followers) some notice when you plan on conducting these observational searches and when we can expect reports on RUclips. And BEST OF LUCK AND SUCCESS TO YOU.
Your friend,Brad Tipton (the unfinished millstone gu

I'm 56 years old and I have visited many NPs, have done much camping in many woods and I have yet to come across a Bigfoot creature. I'm not saying they don't exists but at my age and years of experience in the woods, I have reason for doubting the existence of Bigfoot.

I've heard coyotes bark, yip, howl, growl, whimper and sound like a crying baby. I've heard cats in the light of day make some pretty ferocious growls. I find it strange that a bigfoot would run away only to come back. Whatever it was may have had no interest in the camper at all. It may not have even been watching him. Animals do stalk other animals. Sounds more like a coyote. I know coyotes have infiltrate as far south as York and Adams Counties. Without an actual sighting, I'm skeptical about this one.

My personal opinion is a bear. Black bear do grunt. I've heard this personally in my yard. If this person was cooking food over his fire, that would draw a bear in from up to 10 miles. Yes, their nose is that good. Their eyesight, however, is not good at all. The only time I have ever heard of a bear roaring was a story told to me by a friend. He and a few of his other friends were bear hunting in upstate Pennsylvania. One of his friends shot a bear and the bear supposedly left out a roar. Again, this is only hearsay though. My theory? A bear smelled food and came to investigate. When the bear came closer the the person, the bear picked up the human scent. The bear, being frustrated, let out a grunt and ran off. Keep in mind, bears do not see well, so while it's running away, it's plowing over saplings, brush, and even small dead trees. The growl? Going by my friends hunting story, maybe in plowing through the brush the bear injured itself and then left out a growl.
Good story, and I'm trying to keep an open mind to all of this, but my opinion is he had a bear encounter.

My thoughts on Bigfoot really varies, on one side of the coin I feel like earth is a big place, who know what has yet to be discovered, but, on the other side of the coin I feel like if there were Bigfoot type creatures among us in the woods or forests, why hasn’t a skeleton or skeletal remains been found yet and why are there no credible or clear photographs of them, thousands of people use trail cams for hunting and wildlife photography, why isn’t there a trail cam picture floating around on the internet of one? I’m trying to remain open minded, if I’m being honest I’m leaning a bit more to the “they don’t exist” side of the conversation, strictly based on the lack of evidence and photographs.

Hi Cliff, could it have been a bear ??, I live in the UK so I am not totally familiar with bear noises per se. I am totally on the believer side of the
fence when it comes to Bigfoot, that could have been what he heard I cannot say for sure but you would think an outdoorsman would know
what a bear sounds like in his native land. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

Bears stumble around like big clumsy dogs. They kind of grumble to themselves as well. I have had one in a campsite and while they sit and ponder (if bears ponder) they can be incredibly quiet. But when it's a bear, you kind of know it's a bear. I think a Bigfoot is more deliberate and graceful, for lack of a better term. 😄
