  • amzn.to/3ruGrTN The Qfun store caters to the DIYer with measuring and precision toolsl on Amazon. They sent me this digital caliper as an upgrade to one they provided me with earlier. I mentioned my initial review that I liked the option for fractions of an inch. The new version measures to twice the precision of the General I had used for comparison. Now reaching to a 1/128 of an inch!
    I had also mentioned that the battery door was brilliant and so much better than other designs. Well, guess what. It's now even better! Wow, do they listen. And respond!

    Pretty good looking calipers! I have a Chinese digital set that's served pretty well for at least five years now.

      Yup! These Chinese instrumentation tools are really a crapshoot and I rely on these types of reviews to help me decide

      I really don't know where you received the idea that I think all Chinese precision instrumentation is junk. In summary to my statement that you responded to is this: I have found that Chinese precision instrumentation has failed, in my view, prematurely. And I said for that reason, I rely on these reviews to give me better insight on whether or not I will get lasting desirable use of the tool if I were to buy it. Of course I don't use all of it. Fact most of the time I just saved my money and buy either Japanese or American instrumentation. I have been more happy with that practice. Thanks for your comment

      No but it does have inertial dampeners to limit the impact of the Coriolis effect when using it left-handed.

      Bahahahaha! Only below the Equator! Well played sir! You know there is a Japanese tool designer that works for Mitutoyo out there who just read this and is furiously doing searches for research into Coriolis effect and inertial dampening.🤣 by God, he will not be bested!!!

      German brand calipers are also very good and cheaper than the Japanese ones.

    I have a few pairs of digital calipers but they are always dead. So I have several analog calipers, including ones that are fractional which are useful to me in woodworking. Especially as my eyesight is getting worse as I age. I can read something easily at 1/64" whereas on a scale it's just blurry to me.

  • @felixf5211
    @felixf5211 2 года назад

    The chips in this type of calipers have three modes. One of those modes is a fractional reading. Depends on which the manufacturer turns on. Typically, it's used as an excuse to charge more for an essentially identical gage. Uncommon with professional tools. They're totally different designs.

    I like big displays, it's easyer to read than with migraines. 🤔🤗 A led light would be also nice. 🤗
    I wonder how accurate they are in Inside and depth measurements 🤔 and how they are done on the metal parts, are they sloppy or this ki d of things, that would destroy the precision totally.

    128th is irritating. if you need more accuracy than 64th you won't be using fractional measurements. 64th is what you need for woodworking and metal fabricating. for accurage machining you will need to use mm or imperial decimal notation, not fractional notation. 128ths makes these nearly useless for woodworking because it takes more time to figure the closest 64th which is what you need to know.

    Thank you for the showcasing. I thought I'd do a youtube search on the blue industrial caliper and came across this video. I own a set of the General calipers and have been mostly satisfied with them. In terms of fit, finish, and smooth runout, which of the three calipers on your bench would be the better selection?Thank you!
