Sounds about right, my man Shockwave is ALWAYS getting the butt end of the stick when it comes to screentime in EVERY continuity, so I'm honestly not dissapointed by it at all. As Shockwave's self-proclaimed #1 fan, I've come to expect it, and I always appreciate the screentime we do get with him. 💯 (Plus, in this film, he pulls alot off during his limited screen time. Super impressive!)
To see a character like Shockwave done so dirty is sad :( I have the studio series figure of him and this other small one which I'm gonna use in my upcoming stop motions. I can ensure u in my stop motions, Shockwave will get the glory he deserves

I liked how they strayed away from Shockwave being a scientist and more of a brutish assassin, wouldve liked a mix of both but yeah, Shockwave was a beast in the film
Don't forget that he took control of, and modified, a giant driller creature, as well as baited Optimus into causing the movie to happen by messing with the fuel cell at Chernobyl, the guy was definitely still a scientist of sorts.
@Blotzwave also the PS3 game showed that Shockwave was ordered by Megatron to go get the fuel cell from Chernobyl , Shockwave never knew where it was but he knew that he would draw the attention of the Autobots.
He was apparently going to be the main villain at some point during production, but I can’t recall how far along that got before he was usurped by Sentinel Prime.

A shame his model wasn’t used in Genshin Impact. That would make for a great quest. Imagine the Traveler and Paimon stumble upon him with heavy damages after his death at Optimus’s hands. So you retrieve parts to repair him. Some high level enemies appear and you get to play as him and after that you get some dialogue before he becomes playable. I know someone will say: “But he’ll be too overpowered!” Well that’s what Shockwave is. A overpowered, dangerous monster that is motivated by one thing: Logic.
