Alternative dwellings are great when it's your choice to choose to live that way, but do you ever wonder why less of us are able to buy a traditional home?
The answer simply is currency debasement. The answer more deeply is answered in my new podcast

"You make do" "How do I deal with the space? I deal with it" You do indeed. Enjoyed the practicality and simplicity of this van tour!
He looks like an easy going guy and resourceful too. Doesn't need much in life other than essentials. I like that. Built it perfectly for him. I enjoyed his outlook. Safe travels young man. You did good.
I really like your choice of van. The roof just looks wonderful.
The roof is such a selling point of this van, thank for the comment dyno reed
I love your roof! Whoever doesn't it get hot in your van with so much glass exposed in the summertime, especially in the desert?

Not a lot of dessert in Canada
Great 👍 Mmc delica like new ruclips.net/video/Nkd6AuBrUd4/видео.html
Great build & van life philosophy! I've done 8,000 miles last 10 months in a minivan simple, self built conversion at 63yo. Brett's an inspiring, knowledgeable nomad, keep going with the flow... Thank you for sharing! See you on down the road✌️
He's got a great attitude, love his enthusiasm and practical outlook.
I love that his essentials include a whole drawer full of books!
Can't agree more! Simple, comfortable, no toilet! These are same as my philosophy of van life. And focus on the road time through heart. The most you need is just the exciting feeling about the new journey.
One day at a time can be really fun
I really like the layout of this build, the simplicity and laid back style👍🌳📹
A canning funnel draining into 1-2gal jug is great as a "sink" 2 spit in when you brush your teeth or empty a collapsible washbasin into until you can empty it outside. It doesn't take up all that much space and is nice 2 have along with an emergency folding toilet....you never know.
I LOVE my Delica. I also have that feeling of wishing I had a Sprinter but also what I would be sacrificing...... I love driving my Deli onto the beach and knowing it is very capable
What an awesome guy! Incredibly wise. I get a Buddhism/ stoicism vibe from him. Resonates a lot with me.
Great interview .Thanks for all the great information .Good luck Brett .Keep on adventuring
That's a great setup! Fairly simple means less things to go wrong. Other people have their kitchen area, bedroom, garage area, trying to believe it's a house, but to each their own.
Great honest overview man. Similar outlook and experience to yours. My van is only 2WD and much smaller than yours, but stiill have freedom.Great stuff.
I really love the windows in the roof they are beautiful so cool to be able to lie there and look at the sky !!! I want that if I ever get a van !!!
Always a treat watching your videos Forrest!
Thanks Joel!
Your van layout is fantastic! It's unobstructive, simple and plain.
He has a great outlook on life. He’s 28 and still hasn’t figured out what he wants to do? I’m nearly 53 and still haven’t figured out what I want to be when I grow up! 🤣
61 and still the same. Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.
Finally found a small van build with a kitchen out the back like I’m wanting to build! Shocked more people go for this layout! Thanks for the video!
Nice build and it looks really comfortable. Thanks for the video and I wish you safe travels.
I agree. The advantage of doing a vanbuild slowly is all the thought time permitted for ideas along the way.
Thx4sharing
Kool I'm 75, & I've learned from you.,yes ..I'm a part timer .with home base..but love getting away.
Books and a GBA, that's like the best box ever, top man.
Seems like a really cool dude. I like his minimal van. Very clean and cozy.
This was amazing truly great video this guy is what vanlife is all about 👍
That roof is amazing. Great build!
Brett has a great mini van, probably the best I’ve seen. His cabinets look professionally made, his friend did a great job. The cabinets are thr perfect height for using them while sitting on the bed, brett can stretch out. If the cabinets were higher like most his knees would be bent up and he wouldn’t have enough room. I learned that short cabinets are the best for at least a mini van. The only thing id suggest is a van to storage container which would probably allow him to carry more water, either on top or inside somewhere. A plastic wash basin would probably be something else id want. Im hearing that the most important things needed for van life are good coffee, skateboards, fairy lights and a bed. I wish more time was spent on the outside and the mechanicals. Do those roof windows have built in shades? “Bury your shit people”. I get the suspicion that a lot of van dwellers don’t. I know from personal experience that a lot of hikers don’t and it ruins the experience for everyone. Listen to Brett.
Brett id also suggest if you’re feeling alone to go to your nearest animal shelter and adopt a small to medium size dog that’s athletic enough to do the things you want to do. Sure it may be a pain sometimes but The dog will be your best friend you ever had and what ever you want to do and when ever you want to do it, your dog will be all for it.
Good on you mate. I'm doing the same thing in a 4wd 2008 Toyota Hiace. Can't wait till I retire next year and take off. Good luck on your journey.
No wet wipes for food related, vinegar and water in spray bottle
Mitsubishi are great vehicles. I'm suv camping this year in my 2003 Montero. I get asked all the time to sell my suv. No way. It's a fantastic rig. I see my baby making it to 30 plus years of adventuring.
I have a Delica camper to, I love it. Nice build
Super sweet setup
And I thought I was alone loving and living in a Delica!
Hey man! We ran into you a couple of times down south, at the Grand Canyon and then in Page I think? We were in the old blue Ford from Nelson BC. Sweet build!
Never seen one of these vans. That ceiling is badass
Loved everything about your van and video and you. Thanks so much!
Laid back vid man. Really appreciate it
Get some luci solar lights all need is the sun and to make it warmer inside get some reflex's and cover side windows and watch crime and his sink idea it's amazing❤️❤️❤️❤️
1st time seeing a delica and im in love
👍 🌳 🎥 Great video as usual. I never heard of this van & am going to look it up. 👍🌳🎥
cool van and very well maintained😎 .
i didn't know than Mitsubishi make van like this it is amazing this view to the sky.
Wow if youre coming to overland expo next week, would love to check out! I have a 2022 Hijet with a 2.0L conversion, big brake kit, custom roof storage, still working on solar and need to finish interior!
Nice set up, keep on living the life you love brother…🇬🇧 FREEDOM!!
Building ours up right now! Jealous of your Terzo ladder 😂.
That roof is AMAZING !
Very down to earth young man…good build..
You remind me of Nick Swardson 🤟 Dope video, I agree with the 'less is more' mentality.
if he likes it then it's perfect but compared to other minivans I think space could be used better and he could definitely have some kind of sink, even if it was just a bowl with one of those usb rechargeable water pumps.
That man lives the life!
When you get old, you might know why people put (not smelly) toilets in their vans! 😆 #urgency
To the contrary, that bed rocks. Super efficient. I'm so tired of seeing the pullout beds. My favorite bed I saw was like yours, except: large wood storage boxes under the sofa part. You can access them by flipping up the top of your sofa. But to convert to bed, pull them out horizontally and they hold up the other side of the bed when you flip it out.
Not sure I did that justice,, but I think I saw it on Bob Wells' Cheap RV Living on RUclips. Best of beds.
This was a lesson in life philosophy.
Nice conversion. Safe travels.
We have a rubber sink that folds flat and spout on the water jug. Wah lag sink and tap. Plus they have the usb water taps which stay charged for months
GREAT build!! Wish I had it in my Sienna!!!
Collapsble plastic tub for sink works awesome
Very efficient and tidy. Nice
In Honduras with all that glass the thief will be more abundant than the 🌟 stars.. hahahaha 😂 hahahaha 😂 hahahaha 🤣
Nice video, good dialogue, a bit more detail about what’s under the counter tops would be great, how they are built be nice
I love the rooftop
That van is awesome!
What a great van. Looks great
He has all that open space across from the bed and in the back where he could put a sink and cabinets or shelving. Is he trying not to block the windows?
Is your vehicle lifted? I’ve never seen one of these! The inside is great!
a rubber maid pan 6" deep... perfect "sink".
Do you have a flexible gaspipe for the camp Chef? Looking out for one
I wish i could do this…. Family gets in the way.
Great guy great van great life view
Great video! Love his laid back attitude
This is a must have
I love this man
The only criticism I have is Van Envy. Dammit, why did I go for a Serena when I should've looked for a Mitsi Delica? It's an excellent, envy-inducing build. Liked & saved :)
Great video's keep them coming 😀 👌 👑
Thanks Mike, new ones every Sunday 🙂
Big things have small beginnings 😉
My name is Brett and fuck yeah go Pokémon blue and van life. Recommend going to the Olympic national forrest here in Washington State.
Nice video nice delica like my delica too.😉
I get your drift. Your cool ..
Is the Delica considered a K car? Because in California you can’t drive K cars on the freeway.
I think people need the wood because it gives them a more home feel
Excellent intuition.
Nice van
Gees not bad and I luv the roof .....👍🇭🇲
Wow… very nice design…
love this episode 💞
Great job looks cool
the 80s ones are cooler, dad had an 85 I think was an absolute fatty, had tape decks in the back, need I say more 😁 But still love Mitsi's of any era😁😁 Nice choice bother😁
honest man !!!
Could totally hook up tv, gaming, laptop, and internet with a bit more battery. Get an electric blanket, boom.
That a sweet van
protip: vinegar spray bottle and papertowels to clean dishes
The advantage in Canada for an import is as new as 15 yrs whereas in the States is 25 yrs.
What kind of mattress is that? Connected in the middle on one side
nice van bro
Get solar lights so do away with charging♥️♥️♥️♥️
You can buy a collapsible plastic sink from Amazon for $9.99 that takes very little room.
Hahah "I dont want my van to smell like anything but roses... and my B.O." so relatable! I'm a lady but I dont put on deodorant unless I'm hanging out with other people. My sisters poke fun at me if I dont while visiting them.
Not being to dit upright is such a nono
When you're in the heat and sun that has to be so hot in there for you not putting you down I'm just asking you that has to be hot
How’s the right side steering going in the US?
