Hahaha, fair point thou, she is okayish unit, gud synergy with gaming, hutao C0 (can play new combo with plunge and it better than solely jump cancel which C0 tao will use if u main her), diluc, xiao obviously. Also gud at exploration. She is just like shenhe to be honest value wise.
Hi , i was wondering if you could give me your opinion on what you think is the best c1 r1 Neuvilette team now? I either run him with: Furina (C2) , kazuha , and Lisa w/ PA on Maidens, OR Fischl, KAzuha, Kokomi on clam. Thank you :) (i don't have Zhong,,, i tried AP ning with PA, but not a fan of picking up crystalize shards, and i got similar results to using Lisa)
This actually isn’t true. Faruzan C6 provides constant off field grouping every 3 seconds for like 18 seconds. While lynnet’s forced grouping is meh at C1; she has the best taunt in the game and it lasts 12 seconds which is a main dps window. It’s not that they’re not releasing cc on anemo units…. They aren’t releasing upgrades. Kaz and sucrose because of their generic buffing will stay kings while C6 faruzan, the best multiwave grouper in the game, feels niche to anemo only teams.
Same here. I was just bored with Nuvi and his pi** stream 😂 I had 257 pulls , i spent 150 and got nahida , CR and her signature. Not to mention c6 gaming . Its fun to change gameplay once in a while. 🎉🎉

The first five minutes of this video are critical to understanding WHY you should pull ANY character. What do they demand of you? What playstyle do they fit into? Do you like them or do you enjoy playing their teams or neither?

People look for both damage and likable characters. This isn't hard to figure out. Its worth noting that Xianyun is at minimum one of the top 3 characters for traveling around the world. That is also a factor.
@@Elrog3 yeah, I myself pull mostly that way. Hutao and Yelan are the only char I pulled just looking at their design and animations + VA. Navia is the only character I pulled after her story quest. Mostly all other chars, only for damage. But ended up liking some. Eg., Yoimiya Kazuha Raiden.
Honestly Jamie I love your content wholeheartedly, I just feel the way things were taken into account in this video were a bit scuffed compared to how you usually review things. For i.e. there are other uses for Xianyun, whilst niche she does work with Chongyun infusion+Shenhe and C6 Lynette infusion+Faruzan. The damage in these teams, at least from my experience with the C6 Lynette ver is very high. I get reviewing Gaming cause he's new but only reviewing one specific 4* when there are others that work well seems confusing to me. Still a great video as it was pretty insightful though it just felt really baffling at points fot e.g. to put certain characters on that chart and then to not include others (some standard banner 5*s and only 1 4*).
I'm lucky enough to have a c4 Jean so I was always on the fence about Xianyun after her reveal. I'm kind of glad that I chose to go after Navia instead of her.
She's basically made with the intention that you're bored and u need a new way to play your chars. If that doesn't say anything about this game idk what does. For a game u play 15 mins a day at most to be boring instead of making u want more.
I honestly think what they had in mind with this character is overworld comfort and ofc her looks. Im at a point where abyss is so easy i now only consider looks. Ofc for newer players, meta wise, i think its best for them to invest on nahida instead
I think Neuvillette needs Furina way less than other teams need Furina + Jean/Xianyun. Which isn't necessarily a reason to justify rolling for her in and of itself, but I think he doesn't mind it quite so much as other people mind getting that combo.
Wtf are you talking about with normal attack cancel on hutao? If your hutao is c0 you're already jump canceling so you might as well use that jump cancel to plunge
0:47 to 2:00 Not only Xianyun need Furina but furina also need xianyun in the team for permanent ousia mode, if xianyun is on vv she can buff Furina's passive damage while enabling fanfare. Jean requires the team to be around 50% hp or low at start of rotation for efficient fanfare while with Xianyun use burst and forget about healing for 16 seconds.

You made some good points. One thing tho, imo Neuv is less reliant on Furina than a lot of dps especially at c0. His Forward Vape comp is already strong and i don't think Furina is that much of an upgrade
Keep in mind how Jamie casually tells you to do 100 (one hundred) PMA retries in order to see for yourself how unreliable vaping with Furina gets. If you're average person I guess you'd get similar amount of "fun" playing 20% crit chance Eula 😂
25:27 - Plunge Vape Hu Tao may feel scuffed to you, and you may say it's still better to just simply stick to her traditional setups, but tbh if it means I won't ever need to pull c1+Homa to give my c0 r5 dragon's bane Hu Tao a team on par with my other carries, that's a price I'm well willing to pay. Plunge Vape Hu Tao was one of Xianyun's main selling points for me, as someone who likes her but doesn't want to commit to spending on cons/sig weap for her. Despite having all her traditional supports (zhongli yelan xingqiu), running her trad team without the aforementioned upgrades felt weak and like a downgrade from my other carry teams who didn't need as much investment and I always hated that.
Jamie, it doesn't matter if the likes of Xiao, Diluc, Gaming and Hu Tao probably wants Furina, with or without Furina Xianyun is still a BiS support for them, Furina simply manages to work better there as well instead of Xingqiu for example, Xianyun doesn't NEED Furina in those teams

personally, i like seeing niche characters being strong options for a very few characters especially older ones feel like a W to me but i do undzrstand her flaws from a hardcore perspective
She bring new play style, and Fun to play, decent buff, her teams can clear abyss fast enough. Those are the things that matter, and Xianyun meets them all, MihoYo did well this time
I think you’re comparing her a bit unfairly here. Like sure Neuvilette doesn’t care about Xianyun but he also doesn’t particularly care about Furina. He cares a bit more about Furina than Xianyun ofc but his teams were insane even before Furina came out and a bunch of content creators and theorycrafters said that they were surprised that Furina didn’t actually end up elevating his best team very noticeably. Alhaitham as well, sure his quickbloom team with Furina is just beyond stupid with how fast and consistently it shreds through HP pools, but even with Yelan it's still a stupidly good team. Ayaka I remember you specifically talking about how it makes things clunky for her and how you prefer her old teams because of their easier and more flexible rotations and setups, I could be wrong tho. Hu Tao too, does not get any insane team upgrade from using Furina compared to her older teams and people still play VV vape or xq/yelan Tighnari from what I hear from Tighnari mains still prefer using his classic spread teams. Wanderer usually wants a shielder right? So it has some anti Furina synergies. Kokomi is a healer so she shouldn't be counted imo. Raiden first of all should work with plunges as well as Beidou but that’s beside the point and also I think a lot of people still prefer her rational and hypercarry teams with sara and bennett. So I think with all these characters having other viable options other than Furina, it makes using Furina with Xianyun not be as bad as you’re making it out to be. Especially for characters that plunging actually works for and they prefer a hydro that doesn’t need to be triggered on a normal attack. I think it would actually be better to use Furina in a team like that instead of putting her somewhere where Yelan or XQ could work just as well
Thanks for raising that issue about Furina. I was kinda close to pulling Xianyun, but I had forgotten i'm using marechausee Navia in a Furina team while I'm waiting to farm an echoing woods set for Navia.
Keep up the cope bro A character who buffs 2 characters is not considerd good in any game. Furina make every team op and let me guess the other Hydro is Xingqui or Yelan. This are 3 top Supports in the game almost every character gets better with them.

I agree with your concerns regarding Xianyun. I will be pulling for her because I have C0R1 Xiao with 90/200, 140 Er also it be nice to use my C4R2 Diluc again. My Navia came with QiQi, so Xianyun is kinda free for me😅. Also, I feel like C0 Neuvillette has good teams outside of Furina comps, and because he is so busted even without Furina he feels strong. But I am not a speed runner so my thinking would be different than someone who is. Edit: So I pulled Xianyun with guaranteed pity but I needed one more Faruzan's con for C6. So I did one more 10x pulls and Keqing came with Faruzan.

I saw "Gatcha Gamer" showcased this team in his guide- ruclips.net/video/KUoEIZREUL4/видео.html. I am also interested in this team so I'll test it once my Xianyun is Lv 90. My current favorite is Kazuha, Keqing, Fischl, Baizhu but I think Xianyun comp might come out on top in ST situation.

The only better team is VV Vape with Kazuha which outside of speedruns is a team that requires good ping and very tight rotations, and basically cope af with multiple enemies. Sounds like those that didn't bother to try out Xianyun with Hu Tao are spreading some bs around but whatever, genshin community is not something I'll lose my time with.

And even if we are talking about Hyper Investment with cons, Jean would only get worse, C2 Furina doesn't need as much healing anymore, and C2 Xianyun offers a massive boost. The main problem here is future impact...people just can't come to grips that a person raising REAL and VALID concerns about a VERY EXPENSIVE CHARACTER being VERY NICHE is a perfectly okay thing to do...and is SEPARATE from FEELINGS and EMOTIONS that are not RATIONAL about a character's PERSONALITY and DESIGN. Jamie, and others, are not attacking the character...your delusions are fabricating that. These are very real and needed criticisms for a premium unit. She's fantastic...for Xiao and Gaming...for other characters, she's just okay. Is that worth 400 dollars? You need to decide that. I would say hell no. It is what it is though. This "Play whoever you want" is B.S. because people always use the meta and info from meta players to clear abyss and build teams. This hypocrisy has to stop. People MUST be allowed to criticize units like Jamie does, with facts, logic, and reason and evidence.

Great video as always. I think some of the negative response comes from an audience that is used to a more general guide that is more focused around the new character, whereas I always thought of your channel as more centered around the handful of characters you basically specialize in. And then it's looking at how those specific characters are maximized. I prefer creators that follow this approach since, well, it's a game I might as well pick my faves and make them strong, and I want to hear practical advice from someone who thoroughly plays them too. But with you joining the cc program and releasing these new guides as soon as characters come out... are you looking to shift to more of the generalist approach? Seems like much of the negativity comes from 'you didn't test x' 'y is amazing and you overlooked it' and while these critiques are valid, this type of generalist content isn't what I associate with your work. But it is more popular so it could help with audience expansion, so I understand if that's the goal. I didn't think you were negative at all (like come on saying she's not an upgrade is not negative and certainly not slander) so I hope you don't dwell on those sorts of responses, and as always I look forward to your next video!
I was expecting a Klee guide with Xianyun but seems it wont happen xD For me, Xianyun is amazing. She feels incredible for Gaming, Dliuc and Xiao, and many other characters feel good enough. She enables new teams that use a new way to deal dmg, which brings variety, even if it is not insanely powerful. For that I think she is extremely good and everyone who is not a new player should consider pulling for her. Also, as my only anemo healer (not counting Sayu...) she is pretty good with Furina, and she fits in almost every team where Jean does. Again, more variety.
I've been having a lot of fun with plunge Shenhe (Xianyun, Furina + Chongyun). The icy quills + Xianyun's buffs coming together to buff Shenhe's plunges results in quite nice damage, and it's nice to have a team of characters that are all related to each other in some way (except Furina, she just got adopted I guess)
Good analysis. I got and built Xianyun mostly because I was desperate for a way to make my Diluc and Xiao better. My conclusion is that she definitely did that... but that level of investment shouldn't be needed to make someone viable (and not even necessarily optimal). Xianyun is fun... I just don't see using her in the Abyss much. We just had the plunge bonus in the last round and I didn't use her at all. I used Alhaitham Hyperbloom and Ayato Vaporize instead and cleared no problem (not 36*... it was either 29* 30*... sue me, I'm a scrub). So make of that what you will.
yeah I've noticed many players over time have said they disliked this vid at first but started to agree with this vid over time. she's still pretty awesome in the overworld for movement! which i didn't cover in this vid.

she has a energy problem in solo-anemo, i honestly didn't think it would be that serious, I'm one step away from putting fav code i currently have her with skyward atlas.

She’s one of the most beautiful character.. she’s fun and i mean really fun to use for exploration.. secondly she awesome with furina… I’ve been playing for over a year and i have c3 qiqi but not a single copy of jean .. She’s a great healer to work with furina .. plus the vv is great on her .. plus being an 59 I already have all the character so using Diluc plunge or gaming plunge is fun …
Her buff is actually freaking massive. Its also tied with her passive. Diluc can go from a 57k plunge to 90k plunge with xianyun buff, theres a few videos pointing out how to make her be a very good character to have
Na she’s future proof. Kinda like Shenhe when she enables cryo. So far we only have Gaming and Xiao for plunge but if you’ve been playing GI, you know how Mihoyo does things.

You didn't really mention Hu Tao. Why is she in the "can take Furina won't care about Xianyun" tier? Hu Tao's previous best Furina team was with Jean and replacing dash/jump cancel with a plunge is better + with both Furina and Yelan/Xingqiu applying Hydro, the Vape inconsistencies should be better too, no? Edit: nvm you mentioned Hu Tao at very end.
yeah, and you can just use no plunges if it bothers you, she is pretty much same as Jean, but better for majority of players because you can guarantee her with 180 pulls, closer to 160. On my account I have Charlotte, who has almost same energy issues as Xianyun, if solo cryo, and Baizhu who can make some seeds for burgeon, which is probably ok. I would like to ask Jamie do I need or do I don't need dedicated healer with offensive benefits for double hydro Hu Tao Furina team, if I want to maximize Hu Tao potential, and I don't want to use Bennett because circle impact and swapping to only heal teammates has inbuilt skill issue potential for me, to be completely honest. Because with Xianyun you push the ult button = heal is good = you can forgor about healing issues, and then Jamie says Xianyun is underwhelming. If Xianyun is underwhelming, who isn't, that's my genuine question.
@@Gentraf yeah, true, many of my friends don't have Jean even when playing from release. Getting a Jean that can also do some pretty cool Plunge things is cool.

One team that I’m planning to try and for which I have some hopes for Xianyun outside of plunge carries are Furina taser teams. Xianyun being both anemo catalyst and a healer look like a solid driver for something like Furina/Fischl/Yae
I got her early on 50/50 and I'm actually pretty happy about it. Between the 15% gliding speed and extremely quick traversal over all sorts of terrain, she is now the best exploration unit I've got and its not even close. It feels great exploring the new zone with her.
I almost have all characters, but still it's a shame your video popped up just after I got her. She is ok with some charachters, but I guess it was better to skip. Keep it up, you don't need to be positive if character is mid.
I've been seeing a new "plunging Hutao" team w/ Furina and Xianyun floating around on youtube recently. Just wondering how that team compares to the original double hydro variant with Zhongli in terms of damage/ ease of use. Considering my Hutao is only C0, it might make sense to pull Xianyun for her plunging buff?
If you have C0 Hu tao and enjoy the plunge play style and using her with Furina, then Xianyun is a good pull because it is an upgrade slightly better than C1 Hutao. IMO a good pull, as my C0 Hu tao got a huge upgrade with her.
I mean you can play both neuvi, furina together and xianyun , furina together. You don't need to set a fixed team comp like you only have to play 1 team for furina like you can use her repeatedly in the abyss
This has nothing to do with Xianyun but I'm curious as to why in your tierlist at 3:20 it says Yae doesn't care about Furina. I've been using the two together (+Baizhu) with great success but maybe I've been wrong this whole time and I should just go back to using Kazuha in the much less fun pure aggravate team. Thanks.
I found her pretty fun with c0 Hu Tao (the plunge seems about as clunky as jump cancels lol) but I still mostly play her in mu Xiao team. My Xiao has never done so much damage. I also like playing different teams and I am just happy have a new team for hu tao and xiao. Great video as always. Love the content.
Personally I find her quite versatile. Even outside of enabling plunge she's still a great team wide healer, a VV shredder, a mobility unit, and a minor crowd controller. She's a consolidated anemo support with healing and sub dps potential. You can build her as sub dps and she still provides all of her supporting kit without compromising any benefits of running her.
I've seen so many people parroting how she'll easily guarantee anywhere between 80k-100k DPS for different HT/Diluc/Xiao teams, and I've just been immensely skeptical at how consistently those teams will be able to reach those thresholds. Thankfully, it looks like you've very clearly pointed out why these teams won't be as consistently good as the charts suggest. I honestly don't really know why people still treat pre-release DPS calcs as gospel, *especially* for characters like Xianyun, who very clearly was going to have issues with swirl setups, energy, along with how consistent her teams will be able to vape/melt, how her buffs would scale in AoE and so on. Don't get me wrong, regardless of these issues she's still very good for Xiao/Diluc/HT/Gaming, but 100k DPS with a full C0 team good? I don't think so. Other than that, banger video as always. I love how you always make sure to playtest the teams you're TCing, and point out any issues in playtesting.
1. There are plenty of teams that dont use Furina. 2. Jean can never be guaranteed. There are probably lots of people who have Furina but dont have Jean and would like her.
We're nearly 4 years in to the game. I think its about time we embrace niche supports like Shenhe, Baizhu and now Xianyun. Newer players can save up for reruns of staple units like Nahida, Kazuha, Yelan while older players like myself can just focus on polishing our existing teams like Ayaka freeze, Nilou bloom and Xiao hypercarry. I expect Chiori to be the same as a niche support for Itto mono geo.

Completely agree. She does what she's supposed to in the 4-5 teams she works in, and she's kinda meh elsewhere. A sidegrade to Jean if the plunge buff isn't being utilized. I'm a bit bummed that such an amazing design was yet again relegated to hyper specific teams that I don't like playing (looking at you, Shenhe.)
Shenhe was the sole reason I became a cryo main even though I didn't like either Ayaka or Ganyu and had to wait 2 entire years for a new cryo dps. But hey, at the very least I had two options to choose meanwhile Xianyun is glued to Furina. So, if you like Xianyun and wany to clear with her, you need to have a specific limited 5 star in your team and also to like that 5 star. Just awesome.
before i watch the whole vid. ofc plunge isnt good by itself. nothing is really. add a couple buffer characters and a c0 diluc or c0 Ga-ming + a hydro enabler then you got an op team. you shouldnt start off a video with negatives like shes not strong by herself. shes a really great character, shes the first actual plunge enabler/support besides the goofy "Dragon Strike"(that no one cares about) shes a mid range healer, not only is she a plunge enabler but she also buffs it. also have you tried exploring with her or doing dailies? its fun to jump around the way she does. Do you really need to pull for her?? no ofcourse not. the hardest content in the game can be ran thru like nobody's business with a team of Sucrose Xiangling Bennyboy and Xinqui. pull for her if you want tho. i know i did cuz i liked her design and jump mechanic. had her maxed at level 90 talent level 9, 9, 9 first day and love her. Edit... this post was just my 2 cents lol. also have you seen Hu Tao plunge team with Xianyun. it kinda competes with diluc plunge team. massive dmg, Play for Fun guys not for Meta!!!

@@sweatymobilegamer784 let just use the highest dps aggrevate team Keqing/Cyno/Yae - Nahida - Kazuha - Fishcl Yes, In theory Kazuha or even Sucrose is superior However with the new abyss priorities boss with high hit, a sustained healer or shielder is now more need than ever You don't want to replace the 2 Electro character (especially Fishcl), that leave you with only Kazuha/Sucrose and Nahida Personally unless you run Cyno (which I didn't say in the original comment) Keeping Nahida and repace the Kazuha/Sucrose is much better
@@simonditomasso9868 Yes, yes it is. Due the lack of incentive to plunge, we can ignore that part of it and just look at the rest of XY's kit. None of this has anything to do with Furina lmao. All anemo options can carry VV, but both Sucrose and Kazuha allow for faster swirl setups and- more importantly - more frequent chances to do so. Especially given that Kazuha (and to a lesser extent Sucrose) can provide additional electro app, swirling is just going to feel that much worse with XY when you have Nahida's E procs to keep track of. Their buffs are significantly more potent. First thing I want to say regarding this is that any offensive catalyst you put on XY, Sucrose can carry and probably better utilize. A C0 Kazuha has his A4, which is a significant boost to ALL damage dealt by your electro units, who, and this is the most important part, contribute the large majority of team DPS at a baseline. Sucrose offers a more potent EM buff to all aggravated hits of similar overall strength to Kazuha's A4. Most important of all, Kazuha specifically has force CC. Sometimes, this doesnt do anything. Other times, this alone makes a WORLD of difference. C0 Nahida is simply not as much of an offensive gain as a proper anemo buffer. If you have to give up one for healing/defensive utility, you ALWAYS downgrade the dendro slot.
I really want to know what went through the devs head when making her they could’ve made her a dps and they said “we’re to fucking lazy here a character that was highly anticipated that only allows u to do plunge damage” they need to give her a rework and make her ass a main dps

Man, I'm a new player and just hit AR 40. I decided to pull her because "Hey, my first 5 star. She seems fun." Then YT just recommends this to me is just depressing. Considering how tedious the grind is for pulls and mats, i may have just wasted a few pulls 😔
@@episode4882 she doesn’t benefit nearly as much as others but since she can jump cancel in her combo instead of dashing she can still get some use out of it. There’s a few showcases of this team out there and while it may not be a dps increase (pretty hard to test especially in aoe so it’ll probably take some time) it’s definitely competitive

@@episode4882 I’m talking about her getting the ability to plunge. That by itself is actually pretty good and it doesn’t make a major difference in the amount of NAs you’re able to get off. Worst case scenario you may need closer to 275 ER rather than 250 or maybe engulfing but from what I can tell it doesn’t seem like an issue at all.
i was dissapointed with her until i tried her out today. with furina c6 faruzan and bennet she clears abyss faster than my aggravate alhaitham. Im very impressed with the damage she can do.
Just a heads up, she gets close to Hu Tao with C1 and Homa but IWTL is not a theory crafter and not a reliable source of info and his videos are dismissed by theory crafters because his showcases are manipulated to show the characters that he likes in a better light than the others. Kqm, Jstern, TGS and Zajef are the ones you wanna go for when it comes to meta info

keep in mind that he theory craft from a hard core perspective. if you cannot force the PMA to go to its "split mode" within 13 seconds, you are an "underwhelming" character in his eyes. but for casuals, she is amazing

Healers are just cursed tbh none of them seem to be fitting to pull for at all atleast they tried something unique with her though jstern25 and zajef are pretty satisfied with her.
Seriously. The c6 Bennett ruining team comps was a joke of a complaint even in the early days when it had some merit. C6 Bennett opens more possibilities than the 2 or 3 it closes.
It's very hard to execute! You can try it and if you execute it successfully you'll get more damage at c0 without xianyun. That's a difficult thing do.
Thing is, she is. She's a slightly bigger upgrade than what c1 is. So at c0, xianyun is very significant. And tbh i don't quite get the "its difficult to pull off" comments, because youre already jump cancelling at c0, so thought in an extra right click shouldn't be too much difficult, atleast from my experience.

I either run him with: Furina (C2) , kazuha , and Lisa w/ PA on Maidens, OR Fischl, KAzuha, Kokomi on clam. Thank you :) (i don't have Zhong,,, i tried AP ning with PA, but not a fan of picking up crystalize shards, and i got similar results to using Lisa)

This actually isn’t true. Faruzan C6 provides constant off field grouping every 3 seconds for like 18 seconds. While lynnet’s forced grouping is meh at C1; she has the best taunt in the game and it lasts 12 seconds which is a main dps window.
It’s not that they’re not releasing cc on anemo units…. They aren’t releasing upgrades. Kaz and sucrose because of their generic buffing will stay kings while C6 faruzan, the best multiwave grouper in the game, feels niche to anemo only teams.

People look for both damage and likable characters. This isn't hard to figure out. Its worth noting that Xianyun is at minimum one of the top 3 characters for traveling around the world. That is also a factor.
@@Elrog3 yeah, I myself pull mostly that way. Hutao and Yelan are the only char I pulled just looking at their design and animations + VA. Navia is the only character I pulled after her story quest. Mostly all other chars, only for damage. But ended up liking some. Eg., Yoimiya Kazuha Raiden.

Honestly Jamie I love your content wholeheartedly, I just feel the way things were taken into account in this video were a bit scuffed compared to how you usually review things.
For i.e. there are other uses for Xianyun, whilst niche she does work with Chongyun infusion+Shenhe and C6 Lynette infusion+Faruzan. The damage in these teams, at least from my experience with the C6 Lynette ver is very high.
I get reviewing Gaming cause he's new but only reviewing one specific 4* when there are others that work well seems confusing to me. Still a great video as it was pretty insightful though it just felt really baffling at points fot e.g. to put certain characters on that chart and then to not include others (some standard banner 5*s and only 1 4*).
Unfortunately I only have c0 faruzan and c0 Lynette so can’t test those for the video

I think Neuvillette needs Furina way less than other teams need Furina + Jean/Xianyun. Which isn't necessarily a reason to justify rolling for her in and of itself, but I think he doesn't mind it quite so much as other people mind getting that combo.

Jean requires the team to be around 50% hp or low at start of rotation for efficient fanfare while with Xianyun use burst and forget about healing for 16 seconds.

25:27 - Plunge Vape Hu Tao may feel scuffed to you, and you may say it's still better to just simply stick to her traditional setups, but tbh if it means I won't ever need to pull c1+Homa to give my c0 r5 dragon's bane Hu Tao a team on par with my other carries, that's a price I'm well willing to pay. Plunge Vape Hu Tao was one of Xianyun's main selling points for me, as someone who likes her but doesn't want to commit to spending on cons/sig weap for her. Despite having all her traditional supports (zhongli yelan xingqiu), running her trad team without the aforementioned upgrades felt weak and like a downgrade from my other carry teams who didn't need as much investment and I always hated that.
Jamie, it doesn't matter if the likes of Xiao, Diluc, Gaming and Hu Tao probably wants Furina, with or without Furina Xianyun is still a BiS support for them, Furina simply manages to work better there as well instead of Xingqiu for example, Xianyun doesn't NEED Furina in those teams

I think you’re comparing her a bit unfairly here. Like sure Neuvilette doesn’t care about Xianyun but he also doesn’t particularly care about Furina. He cares a bit more about Furina than Xianyun ofc but his teams were insane even before Furina came out and a bunch of content creators and theorycrafters said that they were surprised that Furina didn’t actually end up elevating his best team very noticeably.
Alhaitham as well, sure his quickbloom team with Furina is just beyond stupid with how fast and consistently it shreds through HP pools, but even with Yelan it's still a stupidly good team.
Ayaka I remember you specifically talking about how it makes things clunky for her and how you prefer her old teams because of their easier and more flexible rotations and setups, I could be wrong tho.
Hu Tao too, does not get any insane team upgrade from using Furina compared to her older teams and people still play VV vape or xq/yelan
Tighnari from what I hear from Tighnari mains still prefer using his classic spread teams. Wanderer usually wants a shielder right? So it has some anti Furina synergies. Kokomi is a healer so she shouldn't be counted imo. Raiden first of all should work with plunges as well as Beidou but that’s beside the point and also I think a lot of people still prefer her rational and hypercarry teams with sara and bennett.
So I think with all these characters having other viable options other than Furina, it makes using Furina with Xianyun not be as bad as you’re making it out to be.
Especially for characters that plunging actually works for and they prefer a hydro that doesn’t need to be triggered on a normal attack. I think it would actually be better to use Furina in a team like that instead of putting her somewhere where Yelan or XQ could work just as well
Thanks for raising that issue about Furina. I was kinda close to pulling Xianyun, but I had forgotten i'm using marechausee Navia in a Furina team while I'm waiting to farm an echoing woods set for Navia.

I agree with your concerns regarding Xianyun. I will be pulling for her because I have C0R1 Xiao with 90/200, 140 Er also it be nice to use my C4R2 Diluc again. My Navia came with QiQi, so Xianyun is kinda free for me😅. Also, I feel like C0 Neuvillette has good teams outside of Furina comps, and because he is so busted even without Furina he feels strong. But I am not a speed runner so my thinking would be different than someone who is.
Edit: So I pulled Xianyun with guaranteed pity but I needed one more Faruzan's con for C6. So I did one more 10x pulls and Keqing came with Faruzan.

I am also interested in this team so I'll test it once my Xianyun is Lv 90. My current favorite is Kazuha, Keqing, Fischl, Baizhu but I think Xianyun comp might come out on top in ST situation.

I think some of the negative response comes from an audience that is used to a more general guide that is more focused around the new character, whereas I always thought of your channel as more centered around the handful of characters you basically specialize in. And then it's looking at how those specific characters are maximized. I prefer creators that follow this approach since, well, it's a game I might as well pick my faves and make them strong, and I want to hear practical advice from someone who thoroughly plays them too. But with you joining the cc program and releasing these new guides as soon as characters come out... are you looking to shift to more of the generalist approach? Seems like much of the negativity comes from 'you didn't test x' 'y is amazing and you overlooked it' and while these critiques are valid, this type of generalist content isn't what I associate with your work. But it is more popular so it could help with audience expansion, so I understand if that's the goal. I didn't think you were negative at all (like come on saying she's not an upgrade is not negative and certainly not slander) so I hope you don't dwell on those sorts of responses, and as always I look forward to your next video!

For me, Xianyun is amazing. She feels incredible for Gaming, Dliuc and Xiao, and many other characters feel good enough. She enables new teams that use a new way to deal dmg, which brings variety, even if it is not insanely powerful. For that I think she is extremely good and everyone who is not a new player should consider pulling for her.
Also, as my only anemo healer (not counting Sayu...) she is pretty good with Furina, and she fits in almost every team where Jean does. Again, more variety.
I've been having a lot of fun with plunge Shenhe (Xianyun, Furina + Chongyun). The icy quills + Xianyun's buffs coming together to buff Shenhe's plunges results in quite nice damage, and it's nice to have a team of characters that are all related to each other in some way (except Furina, she just got adopted I guess)
I am just happy that I can play my abyss with my viable dehya😅.getting 100k plunge with dehya is something I never imagined.
Good analysis. I got and built Xianyun mostly because I was desperate for a way to make my Diluc and Xiao better. My conclusion is that she definitely did that... but that level of investment shouldn't be needed to make someone viable (and not even necessarily optimal). Xianyun is fun... I just don't see using her in the Abyss much. We just had the plunge bonus in the last round and I didn't use her at all. I used Alhaitham Hyperbloom and Ayato Vaporize instead and cleared no problem (not 36*... it was either 29* 30*... sue me, I'm a scrub). So make of that what you will.
yeah I've noticed many players over time have said they disliked this vid at first but started to agree with this vid over time. she's still pretty awesome in the overworld for movement! which i didn't cover in this vid.

yeah, and you can just use no plunges if it bothers you, she is pretty much same as Jean, but better for majority of players because you can guarantee her with 180 pulls, closer to 160.
On my account I have Charlotte, who has almost same energy issues as Xianyun, if solo cryo, and Baizhu who can make some seeds for burgeon, which is probably ok.
I would like to ask Jamie do I need or do I don't need dedicated healer with offensive benefits for double hydro Hu Tao Furina team, if I want to maximize Hu Tao potential, and I don't want to use Bennett because circle impact and swapping to only heal teammates has inbuilt skill issue potential for me, to be completely honest.
Because with Xianyun you push the ult button = heal is good = you can forgor about healing issues, and then Jamie says Xianyun is underwhelming. If Xianyun is underwhelming, who isn't, that's my genuine question.

True her teams are a bit clunky but i dont mind playing for the crazy pop off when it does work.
One team that I’m planning to try and for which I have some hopes for Xianyun outside of plunge carries are Furina taser teams. Xianyun being both anemo catalyst and a healer look like a solid driver for something like Furina/Fischl/Yae

Bro i pulled for Xianyun and you are absolutely right. I kinda regret getting her. Sadly I found this vid late.
I got her early on 50/50 and I'm actually pretty happy about it. Between the 15% gliding speed and extremely quick traversal over all sorts of terrain, she is now the best exploration unit I've got and its not even close. It feels great exploring the new zone with her.
I almost have all characters, but still it's a shame your video popped up just after I got her. She is ok with some charachters, but I guess it was better to skip. Keep it up, you don't need to be positive if character is mid.
I've been seeing a new "plunging Hutao" team w/ Furina and Xianyun floating around on youtube recently. Just wondering how that team compares to the original double hydro variant with Zhongli in terms of damage/ ease of use. Considering my Hutao is only C0, it might make sense to pull Xianyun for her plunging buff?
Zhongli team is still her most popular team due to the comfort and ease of use 👍
If you have C0 Hu tao and enjoy the plunge play style and using her with Furina, then Xianyun is a good pull because it is an upgrade slightly better than C1 Hutao. IMO a good pull, as my C0 Hu tao got a huge upgrade with her.

She does about what you'd expect, she enables plunge playstyle & buffs plunges. That just isn't very useful for most characters as it turns out.
I mean you can play both neuvi, furina together and xianyun , furina together. You don't need to set a fixed team comp like you only have to play 1 team for furina like you can use her repeatedly in the abyss
This has nothing to do with Xianyun but I'm curious as to why in your tierlist at 3:20 it says Yae doesn't care about Furina. I've been using the two together (+Baizhu) with great success but maybe I've been wrong this whole time and I should just go back to using Kazuha in the much less fun pure aggravate team. Thanks.
it's a good team but she doesn't necessarily need furina because pure quicken or chevreuse teams are way better for her

I found her pretty fun with c0 Hu Tao (the plunge seems about as clunky as jump cancels lol) but I still mostly play her in mu Xiao team. My Xiao has never done so much damage. I also like playing different teams and I am just happy have a new team for hu tao and xiao. Great video as always. Love the content.
Personally I find her quite versatile. Even outside of enabling plunge she's still a great team wide healer, a VV shredder, a mobility unit, and a minor crowd controller. She's a consolidated anemo support with healing and sub dps potential. You can build her as sub dps and she still provides all of her supporting kit without compromising any benefits of running her.
I've seen so many people parroting how she'll easily guarantee anywhere between 80k-100k DPS for different HT/Diluc/Xiao teams, and I've just been immensely skeptical at how consistently those teams will be able to reach those thresholds. Thankfully, it looks like you've very clearly pointed out why these teams won't be as consistently good as the charts suggest.
I honestly don't really know why people still treat pre-release DPS calcs as gospel, *especially* for characters like Xianyun, who very clearly was going to have issues with swirl setups, energy, along with how consistent her teams will be able to vape/melt, how her buffs would scale in AoE and so on. Don't get me wrong, regardless of these issues she's still very good for Xiao/Diluc/HT/Gaming, but 100k DPS with a full C0 team good? I don't think so.
Other than that, banger video as always. I love how you always make sure to playtest the teams you're TCing, and point out any issues in playtesting.

1. There are plenty of teams that dont use Furina.
2. Jean can never be guaranteed. There are probably lots of people who have Furina but dont have Jean and would like her.
We're nearly 4 years in to the game. I think its about time we embrace niche supports like Shenhe, Baizhu and now Xianyun. Newer players can save up for reruns of staple units like Nahida, Kazuha, Yelan while older players like myself can just focus on polishing our existing teams like Ayaka freeze, Nilou bloom and Xiao hypercarry. I expect Chiori to be the same as a niche support for Itto mono geo.

Completely agree. She does what she's supposed to in the 4-5 teams she works in, and she's kinda meh elsewhere. A sidegrade to Jean if the plunge buff isn't being utilized. I'm a bit bummed that such an amazing design was yet again relegated to hyper specific teams that I don't like playing (looking at you, Shenhe.)
Shenhe was the sole reason I became a cryo main even though I didn't like either Ayaka or Ganyu and had to wait 2 entire years for a new cryo dps. But hey, at the very least I had two options to choose meanwhile Xianyun is glued to Furina. So, if you like Xianyun and wany to clear with her, you need to have a specific limited 5 star in your team and also to like that 5 star. Just awesome.
before i watch the whole vid. ofc plunge isnt good by itself. nothing is really. add a couple buffer characters and a c0 diluc or c0 Ga-ming + a hydro enabler then you got an op team. you shouldnt start off a video with negatives like shes not strong by herself. shes a really great character, shes the first actual plunge enabler/support besides the goofy "Dragon Strike"(that no one cares about) shes a mid range healer, not only is she a plunge enabler but she also buffs it. also have you tried exploring with her or doing dailies? its fun to jump around the way she does. Do you really need to pull for her?? no ofcourse not. the hardest content in the game can be ran thru like nobody's business with a team of Sucrose Xiangling Bennyboy and Xinqui. pull for her if you want tho. i know i did cuz i liked her design and jump mechanic. had her maxed at level 90 talent level 9, 9, 9 first day and love her. Edit... this post was just my 2 cents lol. also have you seen Hu Tao plunge team with Xianyun. it kinda competes with diluc plunge team. massive dmg, Play for Fun guys not for Meta!!!
I’m getting her so I can run her in aggravate with Nahida lmaooooo, she’s a defensive option that lets me jump around for fun 🙆♂️

??? She's a significant and obvious downgrade to Kauzha/Sucrose in aggravate. Only plus is her healing if you're not playing Baizhu/Kirara.

Yes, In theory Kazuha or even Sucrose is superior
However with the new abyss priorities boss with high hit, a sustained healer or shielder is now more need than ever
You don't want to replace the 2 Electro character (especially Fishcl), that leave you with only Kazuha/Sucrose and Nahida
Personally unless you run Cyno (which I didn't say in the original comment) Keeping Nahida and repace the Kazuha/Sucrose is much better
Alhaitham also works well with her too.
@@simonditomasso9868 Yes, yes it is. Due the lack of incentive to plunge, we can ignore that part of it and just look at the rest of XY's kit. None of this has anything to do with Furina lmao.
All anemo options can carry VV, but both Sucrose and Kazuha allow for faster swirl setups and- more importantly - more frequent chances to do so. Especially given that Kazuha (and to a lesser extent Sucrose) can provide additional electro app, swirling is just going to feel that much worse with XY when you have Nahida's E procs to keep track of.
Their buffs are significantly more potent. First thing I want to say regarding this is that any offensive catalyst you put on XY, Sucrose can carry and probably better utilize. A C0 Kazuha has his A4, which is a significant boost to ALL damage dealt by your electro units, who, and this is the most important part, contribute the large majority of team DPS at a baseline. Sucrose offers a more potent EM buff to all aggravated hits of similar overall strength to Kazuha's A4.
Most important of all, Kazuha specifically has force CC. Sometimes, this doesnt do anything. Other times, this alone makes a WORLD of difference. C0 Nahida is simply not as much of an offensive gain as a proper anemo buffer. If you have to give up one for healing/defensive utility, you ALWAYS downgrade the dendro slot.

I really want to know what went through the devs head when making her they could’ve made her a dps and they said “we’re to fucking lazy here a character that was highly anticipated that only allows u to do plunge damage” they need to give her a rework and make her ass a main dps

Man, I'm a new player and just hit AR 40. I decided to pull her because "Hey, my first 5 star. She seems fun." Then YT just recommends this to me is just depressing. Considering how tedious the grind is for pulls and mats, i may have just wasted a few pulls 😔
She is pretty good + a healer, there are other reviewers who praise her highly, dont be discouraged friend 👍

She's more of a late game player's toy but I wouldn't worry about anything said here because it only applies to high levels of play

Bennett, Hu Tao, and Raiden all work really well with Xianyun in double hydro and they all utilize the plunge enabling/buffs

@@episode4882 she doesn’t benefit nearly as much as others but since she can jump cancel in her combo instead of dashing she can still get some use out of it. There’s a few showcases of this team out there and while it may not be a dps increase (pretty hard to test especially in aoe so it’ll probably take some time) it’s definitely competitive

And by plunging and doing less NA during her burst, you will sometimes fail to charge up your teammates’s burst if they have low ER
@@episode4882 I’m talking about her getting the ability to plunge. That by itself is actually pretty good and it doesn’t make a major difference in the amount of NAs you’re able to get off.
Worst case scenario you may need closer to 275 ER rather than 250 or maybe engulfing but from what I can tell it doesn’t seem like an issue at all.
i was dissapointed with her until i tried her out today. with furina c6 faruzan and bennet she clears abyss faster than my aggravate alhaitham. Im very impressed with the damage she can do.

Just a heads up, she gets close to Hu Tao with C1 and Homa but IWTL is not a theory crafter and not a reliable source of info and his videos are dismissed by theory crafters because his showcases are manipulated to show the characters that he likes in a better light than the others. Kqm, Jstern, TGS and Zajef are the ones you wanna go for when it comes to meta info

@@rail5695 depends , for new player who still cannot do 36 spiral abyss to get full free primos, using Xianyun is going to be a big L. Pulling Nahida is more preferrable. but for someone who already do 36 spiral abyss, it's a fun character just pull anyway. We are doing spiral abyss for fun anyway.

Seriously. The c6 Bennett ruining team comps was a joke of a complaint even in the early days when it had some merit. C6 Bennett opens more possibilities than the 2 or 3 it closes.

It's very hard to execute! You can try it and if you execute it successfully you'll get more damage at c0 without xianyun. That's a difficult thing do.

Thing is, she is. She's a slightly bigger upgrade than what c1 is. So at c0, xianyun is very significant. And tbh i don't quite get the "its difficult to pull off" comments, because youre already jump cancelling at c0, so thought in an extra right click shouldn't be too much difficult, atleast from my experience.
Furina+xinyuan is good for everyteam where furina+jean is good. If you don't got jean like me then she pairs well with furina.
dont feel bad for the review, I understand, I mean, I also love cloud retainer character, but i ll skip her for Arlecchino, because even I love Cloud Retainer, I cant see me enjoying Xianyun playstyle, yes, she s pretty and beautifull, but nothing more.
