hot tip = plenty of juries consistently have voted that a mob boss was "guilty" when the boss's chief enforcer admitted about the crimes, served prison time for those crimes, and was backed up by loads of documentary evidence and corroborating witnesses

It's not Ari's job to correct the record on Meidas Touch or to explain to the jury that Blanche yelling at Cohen doesn't make Cohen a liar. That's the Prosecutor's job on redirect. Anyway, the Defense has yet to produce any actual evidence which contradicts the documents and testimony presented by the Prosecution

Ari is claiming that they only need doubt, but the problem is that that doubt needs to actually be reasonable. For example, a police report shows my gun is used in a murder. I can claim it was stolen, but without reporting it, there is little reason to believe my gun actually was stolen. Trump is for some reason claiming this isn't the reimbursement scheme while also claiming that he reimbursed Cohen in a court filing. That means there should be evidence of a reimbursement scheme, but for some reason Trump's defense didn't produce this other reimbursement scheme.
The attorney that started all this “Michael Avenatti” phoned in an interview from prison a few weeks ago, and told Ari Melber that this case should not be prosecuted in 2024, along with the other cases. ... Look at all the rapid eye blinking from Ari ... he’s clearly in desperate lying mode. LOL .... What you are referring to as "lawyer histrionics" is legalism, the art of arguing in the letter of the law to destroy the spirit in the law, which is a form of perjury.
And the truth is that Michael Cohen perjured himself in this trial. And you know it.

The thing is that trial doesn’t hinge on Cohen alone. There are other witnesses and a considerable amount of paperwork that confirms the facts. Ari seems quite biased against Cohen. I am sincerely shocked by this. It’s almost like he just doesn’t like Cohen personally and it’s coloring his viewpoint.
But the only thing they argued was that he could not have had two conversations in one minute and thirty-six seconds. I just watched you, Ari Melber, have two conversations with your guest in that amount of time. So, they're argument is subjective.

It is my understanding that the lawyer client privilege doesn’t apply when a law is being broken. This case is all about the breaking of the law. So what is your point.

The POINT is this! Trump was in on the DISCUSSION of the cover up.
AND, ALSO, if the DEFENSE had a problem with the ethicalness of the tape, they would have argued to NOT have it admitted into evidence. AND if they did argue to have it excluded AND it's admitted anyway , into evidence, then it must be legal.
I belive that "New York is a one-party consent state, which means that a conversation can be recorded if one party involved consents, or if the person recording is physically present and participating in the conversation. This applies to both phone calls and in-person conversations". AND an attorney is NOT held to attorney client privildege if the client is acutally committing a crime.
Let me know if my understanding of New York law is inaccurate.

still waiting for that too... trial is about over, and while some people here want to lock Trump up no matter what, these same people can't clearly state what crime Trump has officially been charged with, and how / where he broke the law, and last I heard, Stormy still owes Trump $600 thousand for defamation, and Cohen has been in legal troubles for lying to the courts, so both of the prosecution's top witnesses are untrustworthy and their "stories" buckled under cross-examination, so looking at this objectively i just don't see how we can get a Trump conviction here, and if it somehow happened, it would be overturned in an appeal. --- Even Libs that hate him are dealing with the reality that this isn't the thing that will tank Trump's campaign.

I don't think you should accuse Ari of that. Asking the question, though, would be a valid point. However, I am aware they've had a bit of a beef in the past, but other journalists have also said that Blanche DID score a point with that phone call cross examination. But when you take the entirety of Cohen's testimony, the prosecution is way ahead in points scored.

The defense's claim that Trump meant "cash" in the real estate sense, which is essentially a total payment of entirely his money instead of financing from a bank (a mortgage)... I don't know how the prosecution couldn't dunk in their face on that, because there is no context here where anyone could plausibly believe that Trump meant he wanted to finance the hush money. lol At some point, doesn't all the weak and flimsy logic start to make the jury feel like the defense is insulting their intelligence?

I don't think Ari cares one way or the other. He is an employee at MSNBC. Ultimately the decision on who and what gets talked about isn't Ari's to make. Maybe he has an opinion himself, but that isn't relevant to his job as a journalist. Given his past I'd say he's more professional than that. MSNBC isn't some unhinged podcast where you can just say whatever you want. If Ari's opinions are contrary to the networks directives and he expresses them on air that's a pretty sure way to get fired. He's not going to do that.

The conversation and whether it happened or not should have been objected to for RELEVANCE. They have EVERY OTHER piece of information that implicates Trump committed the crime. There was no NEED for Cohen to confirm it directly with Trump thru a phone call. It was an effort INTENDED TO SPECIFICALLY discredit the witness, and the prosecution ALLOWED IT.
What? It was absolutely relevant! It’s Cohen lying about the very conversation with Trump that supposedly would prove criminal intent.

That conversation is the only evidence they have of criminal intent, which you need by law to get a conviction. Without intent, there’s no case. That’s why they had to put Cohen on the stand. The documents don’t show Trump intended on violating campaign finance laws. Cohen was saying he talked to Trump about it and Trump was aware of it. But now it looks like Cohen might be lying about that.
I'm not trying to spam, just honestly asking. What crime did they prove he committed? My understanding is that the way the state law works, he can only be charged with falsifying records, if he knowingly did so to cover up another crime. I haven't seen any claims of what crime he lied to commit, just stuff about what the payment was for. NDAs aren't illegal, so what was the other crime that he was covering up? I havent seen it mentioned anywhere

Somehow still holding on to my sanity, I've read through so many of these threads just to see what they were saying about this exact question and shockingly no one ever gives an answer. They don't even try to come up with a lie, just ignore it everytime it's brought up. It's really kind of wild to see. Like, if the majority of these people are actually human beings, it's pretty unnerving. But yeah. No one EVER has an answer to this question. Shocking, I know. It's really something.
