  • Killarney Provincial Park is considered one of the best canoe tripping parks in the world for good reason. Everything about it is epic! During the final two days of our 5-day canoe trip through the heart of Killarney park, we are treated to more incredible backcountry adventure, including the longest portage of the trip (2-miles), some insane loons that performed for us, and a big hike to the highest point in Killarney Park - Silver Peak.

    Hi Guys,
    I have tripped in Killarney several times. Your camera crew certainly captured the awe inspiring grandeur of the park.
    I apologize in advance if I am wrong. It appeared James was fishing on David Lake. This lake is a fish sanctuary and fishing is not permitted. This applies to many of the lakes in Killarney (not Threenarrows Lake). Acid rain devastated the lakes in years gone by. The sanctuaries are a measure to help fish reestablish themselves. It is important your viewers are aware of this if they are planning a trip here. Ontario fishing regulations are published online by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

      Glad you enjoyed it! You're right about the different fishing rules for each lake. We kept close track of them. James was fishing on ThreeNarrows Lake.

    Wow fantastic! Killarney Provincial Park is without a doubt my favorite park in Ontario. Jumping off the rock face into crystal clear waters is one thing I remember most as a youth, Also the many times hauling the 16 foot grumman aluminum over blocked passage and grueling portages. Thanks for the upload brought back so many memories.

      Let's just say that the two filmmakers that captured the adventure (Mat and Max) are much younger than either James or myself. :) They probably covered twice the distance we did every day, because of all the running back and forth.

    I'm no expert but I think the Loon's posturing was more of a challenge to enter his territory than a welcoming. They will often posture like this just before and/or just after making a yodel call. He might also just be shaking off some water. lol Great footage.

    Would you mind doing a "big guy' kayak review pls?
    Also I just realized sea eagle brought back the paddleski, only they don't call it a kayak anymore, they call it a pontoon boat now, but I wonder how well it person as a casuall kayak that can morph into a row boat or power boat?

    Nice video! Hope you got a special permit to fly the drone. Drones aren't permitted in Provincial Parks.

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  3 года назад +4

      Great point. Yes we did, and it's important for anyone to do the same. On top of that, we were very careful to only fly the drone when other people weren't around. The last thing we wanted to do was ruin someone else's wilderness experience with our drone.

    What's the weight of the swift prospector? Honestly, whats that canoe like to portage? I have a 17ft old town royalex and it KILLS me.

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  3 года назад +1

      This canoe was 38 pounds, which is probably close to half the weight of your Royalex canoe. Of course... it's also at least twice the price. But worth it if if makes the difference between being miserable doing a trip.

    Would two paddlers in a canoe equal a single paddler in a kayak?

  • @1stevoo
    @1stevoo 2 года назад

    would it be possible for you to let us know what you think of the gosea wayfarer kayak ?

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  2 года назад +1

      I've never actually seen one, but it looks like a decent 'entry level' touring kayak. What I mean by 'entry level', is that it has the very basic features that you expect from a touring kayak (not that it's just for beginners). One of the big things you often give up with entry level kayaks is comfort, and so entry level kayaks are usually best for people that do short paddling trips (30 - 90 minutes). If you expect to do longer paddles, it might be worth upgrading to a touring kayak that offers a more comfortable seat. Again... this is just my guess from looking at a few pictures online.

      @@PaddleTV It would hardly disrupt the campers on David lake... I doubt they would notice it in between the sea plane landings of the obnoxious families that have their cottages on David Lake and fly in/out multiple times per day.
