I see this as about the work and dedication involved in being the best - “too hard, too hard, more, more, more, more!”. Oiran we’re the top level and it’s clear that’s where the band want to be. Mayu in particular has worked her ass off to be as good as she can be, and watching her improve month after month was a joy to see during the pandemic. Nemophila are pretty remarkable, all things considered.

I can totally see SAKI as the worthy successor to KEIKO as the sponsor / hostess of NAON no YAON in some years from now. NEMOPHILA x SHOW-YA concert on the 28th will be live streamed !! See their channel for tickets. 🌸✨🌠

The MC who introduced them is Keiko Terada, the lead singer of Show-ya the original Japanese all-women metal band founded in 1981. Show-ya produces this Naon-no-Yaon festival, a summer music event featuring Japanese women musicians. The Show-ya channel just posted a video of Keiko and Mayu having a conversation. Show-ya and Nemophila are doing a concert together Sept 29.

I'm glad you mentioned this - I think Keiko Terada is truly inspirational along with the other members of Show-ya. The festival is not only for women but it was organised and staffed by women, Keiko has over the years also been involved in music clubs and schools for girls wanting to pursue music.
I think we see the fruits of all that dedication in the strong camaraderie, friendships and support in the female bands and artist I (we?) love so much.

I am in my 3td year being totally obsessed with Nemophila. Just look at the pure joy on Haraguchi-san’s face at 1:50. This band plays music I just love and with personalities that are just lovable.

That is one of the reasons I watch this video so often and pure joy is exactly right. Two years before they took the stage at this festival, Mayu and Haraguchi-san were two young artists and friends leaving their respective struggling bands and likely dreaming of someday being in a successful band. I doubt they would have believed that in a few short months they would be surrounded by 3 of the best musicians in Japan and would later be taking the stage at the next Naon no Yaon festival (2020 was cancelled). When she heard her friend's first scream that pure joy was from knowing that her dream was coming true.

show-ya was a pathmaker for japanese women in rock/metal. they are organising/producing the yearly naon-noyaon festival from women for women. their drummer miki played a few songs with nemophila, when tamu was recovering from giving birth to her second daughter. it´s a great network over there in japan. and nemophila are the real thing. thank you for your fine reaction, alan.

Great reaction to theses ladies. For something different someone did a match up video of Nemophila’s cover of a Journey song and the actual 1980s music video. I’m sure you’ll like the music and visual experience.🤘💙🇯🇵

I also want to praise Keiko Terada. Nobody has supported female rock/metal musicians in Japan more than her. To me, she is right up there with Doro Pesch as a pioneer of women in metal. Doro may agree since she is featured in a song on Show-Ya's 2021 album called Showdown.

I get nervous ( in a good way ) because I’m not trying to anything other than learn , but I’m learning something you can run the risk of becoming judgemental and in turn judged ! I hope the Chanel keeps me straight 😊👍
