    The Alphafly moving to an 8mm drop but still running like a 4 due to how much the heel compresses makes sense. Saucony had the Triumph at 8mm for the longest time but the newest version moved to 10mm because during testing, they found that it was compressing so much that it functioned as a drop well below 8mm, and being intended as a long run/recovery shoe where cadence is usually lower it would have been very risky not to add to the heel to get it feeling like 8mm again.

    Another extremely important factor in your stride is the direction your foot is moving, relative to the ground, when it strikes. Is your foot shuffling forward, landing with a thud, or pawing back?

    Yeah the drop and softness of the foam are what I have to watch out for. I remember trying on Clifton 1 for the first time and that for sure felt like a negative drop to me, granted back then I was younger and didn't even know what toe drops were.

    I am a heel striker but soft heels feel amazing but kills my Achilles Tendon.. High stack also feel better but again kill my calfs.. I know that a steep rocker in the front of the shoe is excellent but extremely rear rocker is terrible because I crash land. Sketches is a big problem for me.. High drop in the Triumph 20 is making my hip muscles hurt in long runs... So every shoe has a different angle of attack and effects your body differently.

      Yeah, it’s crazy how some shoes can even cause an injury and others kinda heal you. The invincibles had me injured because they were too unstable with the high volume I had. Also I had hip issues in this marathon block which disappeared since I got my glideride 3s. I feel like heel strikers have to think more about stability and rockers/heel to toe transfer. When I’m running a bit faster and land on my midfoot that’s way less of an issue. Overall I love where shoe technology and evolution are right now 😁

    More important, perhaps, then where you land is where you weight. Land/strike shirt and almost certainly will be in front. However, where are you weight should be under CoG

    Puma for Heel striker. Heel clip that provides perfect stability. NITRO foam with strong shock absorption and repulsive force.
    Liberate 2 will absorb all the Hill Strikers who used to wear Takumisen and Streakfly.

    Been using the saucony tempus, but the brooks adrenaline is so much easier for me. Love the soft cushion. Of course the 21's are no longer available 😥

      I can't run in the TEMPUS. Donated them after 3 runs. Narrow toebox and the midsole feels very hard..

      @@i.p2088 Interesting. For whatever reason, the Tempus has been a huge success with me and I'm now on my third pair. I'm a midfoot striker and I weigh about 135 lbs so I don't compress the foam much and find it suitably soft. I use it as my long run shoe and for the older pairs they get rotated into the daily mix once retired from long run use. Due to the length of my foot, I can only ever buy men's, but width-wise I measure out to a C so in men's sizing I do well with shoes that are a little narrower than average. I've tried the Adrenalines out at the store I work for and I have absolutely zero interest in it as the 12mm drop was jarring to me and felt clunky. Just goes to show how every runner is unique, and it frustrates me when people come in interested in a shoe simply because it worked for their friend lol

    Do high drop shoes encourage heel striking? I am a light heel to midfoot striker and seem to do better with shoes that have 4-6 mm drops. I’m tempted to try 8mm or 10mm shoes (Tempus, Triumph 20) as they seem like good one run shoes, but feel concerned that the drop will affect my foot strike and get in the way. Thoughts?

    • @ielle.
      @ielle. Год назад

      I'm a mid-forefoot striker and I've had no issues in the Tempus. 8mm is as high as I like to go, as I prefer anything in the 4-8mm range. The drop of a shoe doesn't necessarily cause you to strike any particular way, but a higher drop does signal you neuromuscularly to shorten the stride and can feel blocky to someone who isn't overstriding and heel striking because of it. It's for that reason that I won't even consider any of Brook's daily trainers, as they're all in the 10-12mm range, unless you can shell out $200 for the Aurora lol. The Levitate is 8mm but way heavier than it has any business being and the Hyperion line looks interesting but is more for tempos than daily running. Brooks just makes heavy shoes in general but they're durable as hell. It's all that rubber they use lol.
