    I have a question please.
    I’m a mobile DJ looking at purchasing one of these to further tailor/enhance/limit front of house sound. The remote app also appeals to me.
    My system is 2x EV EKX-12P active tops and 2x EV EKX-18SP active subwoofers. The DSP control on these speakers have the option to system-match the crossover i.e. the high pass for the tops can be set to EKX-18SP (or other EV models) and the low pass for the subs can be set to EKX-12P (or other EV models).
    Would I be able to route the signal flow/configure the settings in the DriveRack so the above is maintained?
    I don’t want the DriveRack crossover controls to supersede the speakers’ system-matched settings.
    N.B. The outputs on EKX subwoofers are hardwired as a thru output (no DSP out) i.e. they’re always sending a full range signal (see this video explanation - EV ELX200, EKX & ETX Crossovers | How they work and why they are not good options for column arrays - RUclips).
    Any help appreciated.

    Hello, if we have mixer QU-16 MAIN LR output going to the input DBX DriveRack PA2 and from there output to the amplifier that connect to the 4 Bose MA12 spks.
    To ring out room with 4 AKG C7 mics, should we do it at the Mixer PEQ or use on DBX DriveRack PA2 what's called AFS (Advanced Feedback Suppression) Fixed option not LIve?
    Also perform the AutoEQ on DBX DriveRack PA2 rather than using Mixer Channel PEQs.
    Any suggestions here! Thanks much!

    How will this work with Peavey PV115D powered speakers. This speaker is not in the library. How do I set up gain?

    • @earthling808
      @earthling808 6 лет назад

      Because your speaker is powered you would only use the DriveRack crossover if you are adding subs. There is another video for setting gain. You will have to use the input meter on the back of the speaker instead of the meter on a amplifier. If it were in the list you would only have to provide the input knob setting of your speaker into the DriveRack. Follow the directions in the 'setting gain' video and use your speakers input knob as if it were the amplifier knob. The only problem is that you will hear the pink noise at full volume. You could cover the speaker with a heavy blanket while you are setting its gain as described in the other video.

    • @ScotStevens
      @ScotStevens 7 лет назад +1

      Yes it will. While nothing can correct bad mic placement or mic technique, the PA2 has 12 notch filters that use the RTA mic, sold separately, to listen for feedback while you increase your main gain, after a baseline sound check.

    dear dbx professional - please tell us when you will release a 64 bit version of this app for Mac! After Mojave - from Catalina onwards - no 32 bit apps are supported. They are "history"/"outdated". Now the next Mac OS is coming out (Big Sur), and we have held out from upgrading from Mojave in order to still be able to use your PA2 app. But we really need to move on with the "times". Please confirm when the 64 bit version will be available so we can download it! Thanks!

      +Guillermo Vazquez Hola Guillermo no soy un gran experto en esto pero lo poco que te puedo ayudar es que si no estan tanto tus speakers como tus amplis entonces busca la opcion custom, tambien decirte que aunque esto suceda puedes tomar cualquier preset como referencia ya que en su mayoria las speakers de hoy en dia tienen mucho de similar vale? revisando espesificaciones de ambas, por ejemplo si tienes X marca pero ves que es muy parecida a la jbl o qsc poes asi creas tu preset basado en ese mismo. Espero te haya podido colaborar en algo. . .

    • @paulscire5763
      @paulscire5763 7 лет назад +1

      Don't waste your time or money. You don't need to this much processing power to run a pair of powered speakers. Besides, the powered QSC stuff sounds really good right out of the box. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Good luck, dude.

    • @ScotStevens
      @ScotStevens 7 лет назад +5

      While QSC speakers are awesome (I use them in my rental fleet), they are incapable of placement and room correction which the PA2 excels at (as long as you get the RTA mic, sold separately). This one device makes your speakers sound like they are being operated by a true sound engineer.

    • @earthling808

      You would only be using the DriveRack in full range mode but the Auto EQ function is extremely helpful and fast to tune your speakers to the room. Instead of just ringing it out by ear.

    DSPs can add delay due to the time it takes to process the signal. This can be detrimental when mixing two tracks. What is the delay in ms between the mixers monitor output and the DriveRack

    • @martijnvv8031
      @martijnvv8031 8 лет назад +1

      It's a tiny delay, but you can hear it...... my workaround for this 'problem' is very simple, I just connect the booth output from my mixer to a separate amp (that signal of course doesn't go thru the DBX) and have two monitor speakers very close to me.
      You can also use powered speakers as booth monitor if you don't want to haul an extra amp.

  • @mrjn5786
    @mrjn5786 7 лет назад

    hey but what if i have a 3 way powered speaker already. where should i connect it in 3 way output of driverack??? pls answer me. Thank you! :)

    • @earthling808
      @earthling808 6 лет назад

      If you have a powered speaker that has separates amps for lows, mids and highs then you don't need to use the crossover in the Driverack. If you only have one input on the speaker and you want to use separate subs then you would use the DriveRack in Bi Amp mode (2 way) and use the Mid/High output for your speakers. So you wouldn't use the DriveRack in 3 way mode. Your powered speaker is already separating the lows, mids and highs.

    Is It possibile to use it to set different Type of Soundsystem, for example fiesf pa is from JBL and second One from Rcf... How Is It possibile to Equalize them together ?

    • @AVportau
      @AVportau 11 месяцев назад

      i used mixed brands of speakers. this only works if they are all together used as one large PA. it wont work for 2 different sound stages or directions. set the DBX DriveRack crossovers for what's recommended for your speakers. if you don't know then 20kz-120/160hz for subs and 120/160hz - 20khz for mid/highs should work ok in a 2way split to full range tops. 120hz - 20khz if you're using 15" tops and 160hz - 20khz if they are 12". 3 way is a little trickier coz you need to know your high crossover point for both brands. then use the RTA mic to set the eq. don't have the RTA mic? then you have to use your ears... highly recommend the RTA mic which will autoeq any combination of speakers you throw at it to suit any room you work in... just make sure your crossovers are set... and only works on a single FOH direction... if the brands are separated it wont work... ahhh i had an idea!... if speakers are separated you could technically use a 2way speaker system, subs and full range highs, then run a 3way setup in DriveRack with lows doing subs... mid set to full range using the x-over band pass filters doing JBLs... and high set to full range filters doing RCF. you should be able to separately manually eq each set of outputs whilst still having the anti/feedback and compression on all outs... the RTA mic autoeq wont be any good in that kind of split setup though.

    Wow, you must have quite the product on your hands if you’re manufacturing subs that can produce 250kHz. I take it you had PA systems for dolphins and other members of the animal kingdom with extended frequency perception beyond that of humans in mind. Pleased to hear dbx are stepping up to the plate as the first audio manufacturer to recognise the experience of live sound for more than just us mere humans. 😏

    I've watched the setup Video for the DBX PA+2 on RUclips. In the video the person is using two JBL high/mid speakers and Two JBL subs with Crown amps.
    My first question is how do you use two amplifiers for a High/mid speaker. The two Neutrik speakons on the back of the speaker are to go from the amp into speaker and then out of the speaker to link to another speaker.
    My second question is in the video the speakers, subs and amps are not in the preset list so the person goes into not listed list. How do you no what frequency the speakers are and how do you no which is the correct butterworth bessel and linkwitz Riley filters to use.

    • @earthling808
      @earthling808 6 лет назад +2

      First: When you are bi amping or tri amping as in this video the crossover is in the DriveRack so separate cables come out of the back of the unit for each band of frequencies. The output cable for the highs goes to the amp for the highs. The output cable for the mids goes to the amp for the mids. From the mid amp a cable is connected to the Low/Mid input of your speaker and from the high amp the cable is connected to the High input of the speaker. However, it sound like your speaker is not biampable, if it only has one input for both mid and high drivers and a parallel output for another speaker then it has its own crossover inside the speaker. Some speakers allow you to move a switch to separate those drivers and bi amp the speaker. Then one input would be for mids and the other would be for highs.Second. In the video he doesn't go into a 'Not Listed List'. He selects 'Not Listed' from the list. All of the settings that are input after that have to come from the speaker manufacturer of the speaker you are using. This is only necessary for passive speakers that are being biamped because you are bypassing the internal crossover.

    why would you fool around with the para eq , before you auto-eq ???? its all gonna change after you rta the system/room

    • @earthling808
      @earthling808 6 лет назад +2

      The parametric EQ settings that are shown are for the passive speakers if your particular speaker is not in the library. That sets the speaker itself to its flattest response if it were in an anechoic chamber. This is necessary because you are bypassing the internal crossover of the speaker. Those EQ settings come from the speaker manufacturer. Once the speaker itself is set to flat then you continue with auto eq using a measurement mic in the room to counteract room resonance.

    🧐🤔😅@4:20 - yea, Nothing suspicious here, default 100khz(!) LP X-Over for the subs sounds good to me 💁‍♂️

    ROFL !! - 4:07 - "Our subs are able to reproduce frequencies from 40Hz to 250KHz" !!! I guess no dbx engineers had approval over this video. It's OK though, because they set the low pass at 100KHz. Go marketing go !

    Way to much, hell when do you get to start your gig. I guest you have to factor this into your setup time at every different venue, hopefully you don't have multiple events in one day like full time DJs.

      It will store multiple configurations James (I think it is 40). You can do a setup for your most used combination of equipment and at least have the limiter and PEQ functionality. You can also do an outdoor RTA setting for all outdoor events. Additionally you could, as time permits at different venues, run the RTA for those venues. As a pro you probably see the same venue and set up in the same spot many times a year. It only takes once to save the setup.
