      I've heard it said that the hardest part of recycling ammo is the primer. Brass can be re-used, bullets can be cast from junk if you've got nothing better, and blackpowder is at least possible to make without some huge industrial apparatus. Making something that functionally substitutes a modern centerfire primer is the hardest part, and therefore, I recon big, low-rate-of-fire guns would be quite appreciated in the wasteland, since very few primers are needed relative to the damage you can cause with them.

    For your information the real PTRD-41 is semi-automatic in the artillery contacts. When the rifle recoils, the bolt is actually forced open by the bolt cam which is the sheet metal on the right of stock. It would be a nightmare to animate.

      I'm aware of the ptrdS-41 being a scaled up SKS, in truth the SKS is a scaled-down version of the ptrS-41. Whereas the ptrD-41 is a recoil operated firearm that happens to be single shot leaving the bolt open after each shot for faster follow-up shots. Look up Forgotten Weapon RUclips channel.

      @@beaniegoodman its just PTR when talking about an Anti Tank Rifle, D and S were for Degtyarev(?) and Simonov, Hence why the SKT (Cancelled SVT Carbine) and SKS have a different end letter, and the PTRD , is semi-automatic in casing extraction tho still being single shot, so i get the other persons confusion

      @@colinnelson4080 Nope, that is actually the PTRD. It's kind of a semi-semi-automatic rifle. The entire barrel assembly is on a spring-loaded track attached to the grip and stock, and under the recoil of a fired round, the entire upper assembly kicks back, and the bolt handle hits the piece of sheet metal, unlocking the bolt, which then slides back under inertia, and the spent cartridge falls out the bottom, leaving the operator only needing the pop in a new round and close the bolt.

      A lot of pistols in games like Fallout (the 10mm, for example) have the "lock open on empty" movement as part of the reload animation. Meaning, it is assumed that because the gun reloads automatically on empty, the gun will appear to "lock open" immediately, for no other reason than that the animators are assuming that the gun was reloaded automatically after the user emptied the magazine, so it seems like the lock-open happened automatically after the las round. So if you wanted to, you could apply the same logic to this gun, the recoiling of the barrel and the opening of the bolt could be part of the reloading animation. It'd work even better on this gun, since you'd never do partial reloads, due to it being single-shot. The only reason this would not work well, is if you run out of ammo/pick it up without ammo, find ammo, and reload it, in which case the barrel would appear to recoil for no reason.
      Edit: Though, you'd wanna rethink the design of the gun. Because if it has a recoiling barrel, and you wanna fire it from the shoulder, as you would in Fallout, not prone, like in real life, you're gonna need somewhere to put a foregrip that does not recoil as well.

    This is almost perfect. If I knew anything about sound design or modding I'd make the sound of the shell dropping a very hefty "dunk dunk dunk" rather than the tiny "clink" of the standard cartridge case dropping to the floor.

      It uses the base games .50 Cal clatter noise so if you have a .50 Cal sound replacer for the shell casing it'll work.

    Been loving your weapon mods ever since I picked FO4 back up, they are exceptional quality, especially given the speed you release them.
    I don't know if you take requests, but I would love to see your take on some new energy weapons, perhaps using energy cells or plasma cores from Munitions, as they seem to be underutilized in general

    There should be an add on patch designed for this that causes any enemies under a certain HP to trigger bloody mess so that enemies like the Yao Guai, a Raider or Mole Rat literally explode in a shower of gore but BoS Knights in PA just die

    Funnily enough this gun would be perfect for balancing the ludicrous protection power armor should give you. And if fallout 76 PVP was more RUST like (wich to be honest a fallout game more akin to rust/ark would be fun as hell if you made it right) this thing would definitely be something I can see being ran unironically

    I’m going to make the argument that it should be a mid game weapon because that’s when you can encounter heavily armored enemies for the first time and also the real life PTRD was made simply and out of scarp metal to be mass produced cheaply. This OFC means we need an Ak style 20mm PTRS-41 as a late game semi automatic 20mm for use in PA
    Just call it the Chinese Anti power armor rifle and give it an RPD style hand guard like Fo3 lol.

    The Headhunter with a sneak attack while you have maxed out Mister Sandman plus Ace Operator and Deacon's perk (Cloak & Dagger) would do utterly ludicrous damage. Also, the Glowing Sea looks wonderful with trees and grass.

    My issue with autocannons in many games is that, they don't really get it right. People just think it's a big bullet, and the talks are reduced to just penetration power and/or kinetic energy. But they are auto-"cannons" for a reason, that which they are large enough and typically have an explosive charge inside.

    The chamber's thinness makes me a little uncomfortable, though I'm not a metallurgist or a gunsmith so I wouldn't know if that's enough steel to handle those pressures.

    Nice mod, only complaint I have (and even that is a bit nitpicky) is that the bolt doesn't have locking lugs on it. It would fly straight to your face making you a unicorn.

    If you were fighting lore accurate power armor, you'd need this. But in game, power armor means basically nothing. It's at its worst in Fallout 4. The stuff shreds as easy as paper.

    This is kinda how the black powder guns play in 76. I personally carried a rifle to start the fight and, if needed, 4 pistols to finish it. Grafton monster? More like graft-GONE!

    Except that there is already a true to life recreation of both the PTRS and PTRD-41 in one mod, the Modular Simonov PTRS-41 Anti-Tank Rifle. That one has a TON of attachments, upgrades and modifications. It also does not need Munitions as it adds it one custom ammunition to the game. However, it is SERIOUSLY OP. When I tried it out, I managed to get the PTRD to do 1400 damage with the various perks and weapon upgrades that are available for it. Add to that the sneak attack bonuses and I was one shotting dealthclaws, mirelurk queens and fog crawlers.

    Overall this appears to be a great mod. Sadly the stats are subpar, no offense. The 20mm is beyond deadly and the best this weapon can do is 300 and change is just sad. Also the range won't break 220, which again is sad. I'm no mod maker I just know weapons IRL and most times real life does not translate into a game very easily; but these stats are nothing more then 308 stats, if that, but the physical differences are vast. You can literally make upwards of 20 308 rounds, give or take, out of a single 20mm round. Google 20mm vs 308 and see what I mean. Again if you're restricted to physically game stats then my comment is mute. It would be nice to see the stats increases on this weapon given how difficult it is to find. Damage should easily be min 900 and max some 1600, if not more. Range should easily be over 600 min and 2000 max. Again if you're limited by game restrictions then it's perfect; but if you can tweak said settings it would be nice to see because the 20mm is a beast of a round, easily 4 times larger then a 50 cal round. At the very least this weapon should be better then the 50 cal in the game, at least double what the 50 cal can do in all areas.

    it's been almost 2 years since my last fo4 playthrough, but i remember that many legy effects and skills use the weapons base dmg. so double dmg on full health would be another 150 dmg not 600.
    150 base + 150 weapon skills + 150 from attachments + 150 from 2x dmg on full health?
    correct me if i'm wrong
    dmn i need to play fo4 again..

    Bethesda should hire modders to make guns in their games. Imagine how awesome would be if this was an alternative version of the railroad response to Powerarmor if the Brotherhood went rogue.
    They could create an entire quest based on finding this weapon schematics, to build it and keep it as an important tool to the railroad agents.
    Of course this is just an example.

    Dak, I really like your mods, but holy hell, answer please, why did you ruin your own combat rifle? First revision, the old one, changes magazines design, depending on caliber, but your newer one with only stick mags is a big step back. Just why? Why?

    Hmm do you have think a wall-penetrating mod is possible in FO4? We have the penetrator perk after all.
    Also i'd add another unique for this, a penetrating variant would be very fitting.

    If you can find some animations that work for it, the Chauchat would be a grea weapon for Fallout 4. It's got that very crude asthetic and it's actually appeared in Fallout before, as a joke weapon in Tactics.

    Munitions is only really a pain for lower level ammo, imo.
    Every 20mm round is going to be useful, so you'll never hate to see one show up as loot.

    Love this, and everything you’ve made. Idea for you or maybe for someone to spread, the mod unique uniques for fo4 is kinda mid and not as in depth of a Rehaul of the uniques as in Skyrim. I think that would be a great mod pack for this game, giving unique looks to all the named guns for the game

    Hi there, Dak, i wonder if u can add some attachements to creation club weapons, like AMR, or manwell weapons or the new added makeshifts weapons, your mod its the best one out there, and i hope u look more on weapons and maybe add more attachements :)))
    And something i want can u add a mod a damage modifier(not too overpowered) for them, if u can, maybe a quest in glowing see with a ton of enemy guarding it

    Hey man I recently got back into watching your Channel as I was considering modding my fall out again after watching the show and was watching your weapon attachment videos and I remember you saying you weren't sure what to do with receivers for plasma and laser weapons and I saw a good solution for a simple addition would be the option to upgrade laser weapons to fire plasma rounds for the increased plasma damage as well as changing the lights green and for plasma weapons a receiver that converts the plasma weapon to use energy cells which are more affordable without sacrificing the plasma damage and changing the lasers red. Basically make it so with the proper science you can upgrade lasers to be more powerful in Deal ballistic damage by firing beams of plasma while remaining more lightweight or make plasma weapons more efficient by using more efficient energy cells. Also a cool suggestion for a mod especially with all of your pipe weapon overhauls is to make pipe weapons spawn far more frequently and require Les perks to maintain an upgrade in the early game. Lastly do you know any mod that adds a very simple durability system to weapons where they decrease in damage over time unless you maintain them at the workbench or with field kits

    If you plan on making some updates to this mod I have a recommendation, I notice on the bolt there’s no locking lugs it just slides in smoothly, now if that were the case when fired the energy from the 20mm is pushing that bolt right at your face, so i recommend just extending the bolt back and adding a cutout that the bolt handle slides into and out of, it appears to be animated that way just doesn’t have no locking lugs

    should have added this in the vanilla game instead of he pipe rifle sniper at .50 cal. just saying a .20mm has appeared in fallout before and it would make late game snipers actualy dangerous to handle. the single shot would balance it alot as well. the 20mm can be the standard and .50 cal can be the upgrade just because ammo would be easier to find and you add a 3 round clip to it.

    Also there's some audio issues with your voice recording, it's faint but it kinda sounds like you're talking into a tin can at times

    I know there’s alot of R91 mods out there but i think dak should make his own i feel like he and pig would bring a very unique aesthetic to it. A more makeshift version of it if you will.

    Good for a long range sniper. One question.. The greased bolt for faster reloads actually reduces the fire rate to 2 from 3.? That seems slower reloads.

    This is really awesome but I do think the reload animation leaves ALOT to be desired, its all sorts of clunky in a very bethesda way but unfortunately a bad one imo

    The thing that bothers me is that the bolt's locking lugs do not extend into the widened part of the receiver. Honestly you should do away with the narrow part entirely as it only made sense on the PTRD in order to retain the bolt.

    I would love to use this mod but everytime I try to install it the weapon is invisible and can only be fired in 3rd person

    Hey Big Daddy Dak, im sure you get multitudes of comments and suggestions for weapon mods on a daily basis but im hoping you'll take notice of mine. You obviously have connections in the modding community and being a part of it yourself I hope you'll make my dream of using a commando carbine (De Lisle carbine) in a stealth build a reality. The De Lisle carbine is a WW2 era weapon made specifically for British commandos to use during secretive missions. Think of it as the varmit rifle from NV on steroids. (at least from a stealth point of view)
    It has an integrated silencer and is a bolt action. Aside from it being a British weapon I think it would be a very lore friendly addition to the game. Quite frankly it seems like we dont get too many wepons geared towards steath builds. Just ..... help me out man, Im begging ya.

    I feel like this gun is missing things. Like isn't there supposed to be a firing pin? How is the primer being struck.
    I'm not a fire arms repair dude but I feel as though I need invoke the presence of Zach Hazard.

      Yea I'm not sure exactly how it works but there are real life rifles that reload the exact same, I've never understood how it's capable of firing
