    Eli, when asked about his dad during interviews he always manages professionally to divert it back to the reason he's there: HIS music and not his dad's.

    • @mtnmoo
      @mtnmoo Год назад +34

      the question he was prompted with was actually worded really well to still ask about him. Most interviewers are terrible at that and it was refreshing to see haha

    Growing up in the 80’s I had all the legacy acts at my disposal and living the grunge era made me feel like I was part of history. Fast forward to the 2000’s and the ride of the strokes and all that followed was a resurgence and another part of music history. I May be skipping a few but 2020’s it’s INHALER that I’m sure is that next band that we will all remember changing music, creating a new era. These guys are special, their music is special!!

    I am older than the teacher (lol). I will be in Liverpool for tomorrow night's gig, and so I have spent the day listening to the new album. It's a bit lovey dovey for me, there are no bad songs on it, but there are no great songs in my opinion. So it's a shade disappointing, I am not sure what they mean by them being more of a band on this album. I thought they sounded more like one on the first album, which I thought for a debut album was outstanding. I am looking forward to the gig, and hopefully they will play some tracks from the first album 🙂.

    • @MRynbout
      @MRynbout Год назад +5

      I thought same as you initially. This one is a grower. Took me 4 listens for it to click and now I love it. They've still got some interesting soundscapes, but you really have to listen out. One criticism I have is that the bass doesn't drive the songs as much as on the first album. On a couple of songs, the bass is too low in the mix. I hope they don't underestimate how important that bass player is! He contributes a lot to their overall sound. Tone of this album is dark romance, which I don't mind. I just hope they don't lose that edge they had on the first album. Need more guitar solos! My standout songs: Dublin in Ecstasy (took me a while to get into this one), Valentine, The Things I Do, Now You Got Me, These Are The Days.

    • @alexrimmer1214
      @alexrimmer1214 Год назад

      @@MRynbout Thank you for replying. I enjoyed last night gig, perhaps not as much as last year. But it was not due to them playing the new songs, it was because I had to watch from a distance, leaning against the back wall supporting my dodgy left leg (lol). Your comments are spot on, the album is starting to grow on me, I think it was that I was missing the bass input. I found that if I listen to the songs individually, rather than as a run through. I see the music within them a lot clearer, especially if I turn up the volume. At the gig, I don't think they played any of the last 4 songs on the album. It will be interesting if they do in future, they may not be the type of song that is played live, but it does not mean that they are no good. Thanks again for your reply 👍

      @tessbowen3361 Год назад +1

      I agree somewhat, I didn’t have the immediate wow factor that I had with iwablt and I think that’s because I expected them to be very similar which I don’t think they are. Definitely grew to love it more after listening again though!!

      @alexrimmer1214 Год назад

      @@tessbowen3361 Thank you for replying, yes, this album is quite different from the first. But the more I play each individual song, I am now beginning to like them. There is less bass in the mix, which was pointed out to me by the previous comment. I guess I must be missing that, without knowing 🙂.

    I like this band, but this presenter is bizarrely irritating.
    It’s funny really, but that Zane Lowe bloke does exactly the same thing - a kind of overfamiliar matey-ness that's incredibly grating.
    I mean, he say “Whatup”, and he hugs.
    Can’t Apple just get a normal well-informed person… instead of these oily insurance-salesman-type presenters?

      Finally! Someone had to say it! This overfamiliar “interviewing trend” is absolutely annoying… I thought I was the only one who hated Zane’s style too. Special mention to the shallowness of the questions and how to waste a valuable amount of time with an incredibly talented band. In spite of that they’re still kind and humble with this overfriendly Apple guy 😥

      "Acting like" they literally arent, its not about how theyre put out or anything (not that bono is the reason for that) they consistently release well received albums, 1 of them being unbelievably well received and have a consistent following and fan base. THAT is whats importsnt and what makes them great its nothing to do with his dad.
