Interflug Airbus A 310 arrives in Berlin-Schönefeld, 1989

Founded in 1958, Interflug acts as the umbrella organization for all commercial aviation activities in the GDR. In the early years, the focus is on the air traffic to Leipzig, where a Trade Fair takes place twice a year. At that time, the airline does not yet own any of its own aircraft.
The archive material shows excerpts from the year 1989. The very first Airbus A 310 of the GDR state airline Interflug lands at Berlin Schönefeld Airport. Two others are to follow. With a new design, low prices and the possibility of non-stop flights abroad, the new aircraft seems very convincing.
