I bought this led kit with very little installation instructions, decided against the install...I ended up buying and LED replacement for the factory dim orange ones. Going to put those in soon. But if they don't work I might do this install! Thanks for the hard work and showing us the way!!! Keep up the great videos! You got a subscriber!
It does work, the installation process is a little different. I believe you tap into the FRM module, there’s pins in it, instead of getting power from the iDrive module, BUT, if you ever decide to retrofit the NBT (2014-2017) head unit display, you can get the NBT kit via aliexpress and do the same install I did. If you check the aliexpress link in the description, you can check the actual description on aliexpress and it has some images of how the CIC is installed, but still the same process wiring the doors, etc. hope I helped!

I install exactly the same ambient light on my F10 few weeks ago and I had an issue with the color changing ( not matching with the screen ) and it was from module, one of the connectors has a bent pin ( just to let anyone knows in case they have that problem ). I'm waiting to see that color changed from the idrive as you mention bro. Good luck !

Hello, maybe you have an answer, I bought an ambient light kit and I have 6 wires from the i cic console and 4 wires in this module, is it somehow connected to this cic control or not?
My stock ambient light was working perfectly, I just wanted it to be color changeable, if it was possible to change the diode to be 9 colors and leave the stock fiber cable I would have done that, but to my knowledge there isn’t such a kit

Yes you change them in the iDrive options under lightning so they can be one solid light. You can even dim them, or turn them off completely. The lights don’t even have an option to fade through different colors. It’ll just be the color you chose until you decide to switch it again in the menu. 👍🏼

To everyone with the CIC system: I was having issues for 3 hours trying to figure out how to wire in the ambient module as instructions aren't too clear. The CIC system I got from Aliexpress came with an adapter for the Idrive controller + adapter for boot lid button - I just used the Idrive adapter only and it works perfect via radio controls. - main harness to ambient module - adapter between Idrive controller to ambient module No need for wiring into FRM/OBD for power etc. The thing that made me struggle was the one plug on the ambient module not making proper contact - reworked the plug and perfect - make sure to double check all pins and plug connections properly!
@@1Denmorak what do you mean exactly by mmi? The wiring diagram with the installation instructions shows to get power from obd and multiple videos show power from frm or window switches but not necessary

Hi leo, i have an f10 2013. I followed your instructions on the bimmercode app but, after i did the whole coding only „classic mode“ popped up. Do you know why? I think that my car is an nbt because i had to select the dip switches to nbt radio switch controll to be able changing colour. Cic radio switch controll did not work so it has to be an nbt.
I did everything according to the video, I only mounted the passenger side because it was late and I had to go home, I turn the car on and the LEDs only work for 2/3 seconds and go off, then the idrive controller doesn't work either. solutions? Thank you

Question. Let’s say you disconnect the f10s Idrive connect pre LCI version. And you plug it back and it won’t the ambient lights won’t turn on as they normally did. What can I troubleshoot?

Maybe it’s easier to say in English, I’m not sure, I just saw your name, but check fuse number 29 behind glove box, and then reconnect idrive controller, everything should work after you replace the fuse, this happened to me a couple of times while installing

Installed everything, but now my iDrive controller (knob) doesnt work anymore.. Anyone know what could have happend to it? With or without the module, no response from it.. no light no nothing.
It’s fuse #29 or #39 I forgot which. you could’ve plugged it in incorrectly, replace the fuse for the idrive controller and play around with the connectors again, everything should work

Mine already had ambient light, if you take off your wood trim you might be able to see the channel the light goes into

Здарова, iDrive controller не работает? У меня так же, fuse проверить надо, я забываю какой. Он сзади glove box!
Fuse надо поменять на этот контроллер, проверь на гоогли который едет на контроллер, у меня так же было, думал надо покупать новый контроллер

@@Ste_O_D never had any issues with them getting hot, LEDs typically run very cool.👍🏼

Ya should be fuse #29 on the f10
And if u have f30 I believe it’s fuse 25
