  • MCA gives a presentation / masterclass at Mansfield State College, Mansfield PA, probably around 1971. (Möller Opus 10652, 1970)
The picture in this video is pretty poor by modern standards, but being recored on consumer EIAJ video tape it's about the best that was available at the time. The organ is hard to hear but we can hear her speaking quite well.
My dad, Kent Hill, was professor there at the time and arranged this event.
Thanks to Rick at Obsolete Video Services for what I'm sure is the best possible transfer.

Indeed, I wish I knew who to contact to get this in front of more people. I know there are other videos of her on RUclips but this must be among the oldest surviving video recordings of her speaking.

This could NOT have taken place in 1975, as the presentation reads.
Albert Alain died on October 15th, 1971. However, MCA can clearly be heard stating that her father “is now 90 years old”. She also mentions that he is still around, at the organ of his church, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. So she says on this tape, at 0’50” from its beginning.
Then, no doubt this was recorded right after that organ in Pennsylvania was officially unveiled, since it’s also mentioned it was built in 1970.
I studied with Marie-Claire Alain in 1986-1987. It seems that her voice was later totally changed : strangely enough, we can hear a tone that’s mostly unknown to me.
I guess she was 44 or so, in this document.

Thanks for the info - listing updated. It was a wild guess on the year. The EIAJ VTR that this was recorded on was probably quite a novelty then as well (1969 according to wikipedia).
