      Sub just makes no sense in stereo IMHO. You can't locate it.

    • @MiDnYTe25
      @MiDnYTe25 2 года назад +2

      @@PK-ct1bm that would be true in an ideal world where the sub only reproduces sine waves below 80Hz or so. That's not the case, however. It is also worth keeping in mind that increasing the amount of subwoofers in a system dramatically improves your chances of cancelling a few room modes by exciting different ones with each woofer.

    generally speaking, does placing the sub outside of the monitors (rather than between them) compromise the sound in any way?

    • @dynaudioprofessional
      @dynaudioprofessional  3 года назад +2

      Hi Kelly,
      Even though the low frequencies are harder to place in a physical room, you can still localise the subwoofer fairly well when impulsive sounds are played, so keeping it at the front between the speakers is ideal.
      That said, moving the subwoofer around can have a massive impact on how room modes develop when excited by the subwoofer. Evening out the room modes might be a better overall compromise than keeping the sub at the front.
      In other words, you might want to start by placing the sub between the speakers, but if that is not practical in your room, you may want to experiment with alternative placements. You may even want to do that in any case due to the room modes as described above in case those room modes are a problem when placing the sub at the front and center.
      Hope this helps.

    I just bought this sub to Pair with my Dynaudio BM15A's, and it has not worked correctly. Buyer beware, I have reached out to DynAudio, but they do not reply back. Also, I have to do numerous factory resets for when the right side stops working, I did have a Dynaudio 9s, and it was a nice sub, I thought I go with this, seeing my room is 25' x 35', it might give more of what I need, but it has not yet worked correctly, I purchased from Vintage King and the only solution brings it back and we'll exchange it.I think I'm going back to the 9s, the DSP sounds like a good idea, but when it does not work, it is a real bummer

      No absolutely not. That would be a great addition. We're glad to hear the Contours work out great for you. Should you ever consider upgrading to a three-way studio monitor, we would recommend that you look at the new Core 47. But in either case, you could use the 18S in combination. 😃👍

    • @dynaudioprofessional
      @dynaudioprofessional  3 года назад

      Hi. The 18S comes with presets for our studio monitor range. Suib 6 has presets for our Home speakers (but not Xeo, I think). Please contact my colleagues in the Home division (the Dynaudio facebook page (not Dynaudio Professional) to hear which of the presets in Sub 6 they would recommend for Xeo 2. Hope this helps. 😃

      Hi. The Sub 6 and 18S are quite similar, but Sub 6 comes with a different host of presets that is suited for our Home range of speakers, whereas the presets in 18S has been created for our studio monitors. Also, the finish differs, as the 18S is matte black and the Sub 6 is satin black.

      They are essentially the same product with different names and different price tags . Forgot to mention that 18s is more than 1k euros cheaper than sub6 since hifi audience pays some form of tax ...
      Basically I own the set demonstrated and use it for home hifi listening. The DSP and the extra settings are more than welcome for calibration purposes .
      In two words for less than 3.5k euros I have a set that it's equivalent in the hifi gear world costs double the money to match.

    • @dynaudioprofessional

      Hi Nick. As mentioned, they are quite similar, but they are not exactly the same product. Apart from the mentioned topics, the Sub 6 also comes with a different baffle plus grilles on both sides, and the finish is indeed more expensive to make.

    how can the 'trigger' input be utilized? how can I have the ability to bypass and engage the sub at will? i want to connect the LYD48s to the sub (rather than put sub on separate output on my monitor controller) but I'm unsure how to bypass it when needed within this kind of setup.

      @@dynaudioprofessional Hi, thanks, but I've already read that a few times (I re-read it again now to be triple sure). It seems to say the Trigger input can only do a 'one-way' control (eg turn the sub on, or mute the sub -- but not both). Am I understanding this correctly? I have no way to turn the sub on (as well as mute it) from the trigger? I'm super sad if this is the case, as I already blindly made the purchase thinking there's no way that feature wouldn't be available (my other 2 subs, both at similar price point, offered a manner to do this). I will also admit, that I don't know which product is appropriate to buy as a 'trigger' (forgive me, but I'm only familiar with bypass pedal approach). Could you make any suggestion in this regard?

    • @mikelo303
      @mikelo303 6 лет назад +1

      MY previous speakers had ribbon tweeters. It's a matter of taste and ears. I can hear far more beyond 21K that conventional tweeters offer. Maybe not hear but feel more transients. I don't know. Simply my ears like ribbons much more. I get less fatigue as well. Don't get me wrong. LYD's are very precise. I can hear more music, especially in mid range, however thay are not musical which can be plus and minus. Plus if you are doing production, then LYDs are more precise compared to Adams, based on forums I read. However I DJ mostly and musicality is more of what I need, and precise hights. I know Adama oversaturate highs, so for production LYDs might be better. However, simply I am not blown away with LYDs in listening department. They are precise but they are not making me want to listen to all my music collection again. I am planning to buy Adams to make comparison side to side and sell LYD's if I like Adams more. Basically. ALWAYS listen before buying. Otherwise you will always wonder like me.
