Towards the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Kukush was a large almost pure Macedonian city. The city played a major role during the Macedonian revival movement in the middle of the 19th century. Because of its awakening, Kukush was called a "political nest". The apostle and the heart of revolutionary Macedonia, ideologist, organizer and leader of the Macedonian revolutionary national liberation movement, Goce Delchev was born in Kukush. During the Second Balkan War in 1912, Kukush was fully burned by the Greek armies and the Macedonian population which only lived in the town till that moment was forced to flee from their homes. The Greek population that migrated from Asia Minor was inhabited instead. However, thank you for preserving the pure Macedonian traditional songs.

@pericaivanoski9027 What you posted is wrong. Most of the Slav-speaking Kilkis/Kukush population followed the defeated Bulgarian army back to Bulgaria where their descendants still live. A small portion ended up in Stomnitsa/Strumica, which was then part of Bulgaria following the First Balkan War. When that city was given to Serbia after the First World War, the Serbian government refused to allow the Kilkis refugees to leave Stromnitsa for Bulgaria. The first wave of Greek refugees to settle in Kilkis came from Stromnitsa, and the second wave came from Bulgaria. Asia Minor and Russian Greeks came later. As for Delchev, even historians in Skopje now admit that he identified as a Bulgarian. Communist forgeries died with communism.
@@sirbobloblaws thank you for confirming what I told you. Kukush was among many places in Macedonia where the Macedonian population was brutally wiped out and replaced with an ethnic population coming from thousands of kilometres away. Many of those new citizens when they were settled in Kukush did not know the Greek language. They were just an orthodox population that was needed to change the dominated Macedonian ethnical structure of newly occupied territories by Greece. Bulgaria also benefited because they can use Macedonians who were exiled from their homeland Macedonia to fill the gaps of Greeks leaving Bulgaria (so-called "voluntary exchange of population"). That is why Goce Delcev has said "the liberation of Macedonia can only be an act of Macedonians themself" and "one who works for adjoining Macedonia to Greece or Bulgaria can only be considered as good Greek or Bulgarian but not good Macedonian". About the ethnic affiliation of the Slav population in Egain Macedonia just go and ask those people who remained to leave there after all these genocide policies applied to them. And in the end, I can understand you, in the heart of Europe you were cultivated in a very ethnocentric intolerant policy aimed to justify the occupation of territories which have never belonged to your countries. If you call the opposite of that approach with the term "communism", I am extremely delighted to be called so. Best
